Hi, I'm Artturi! I am a friendly pup with so much love to give! I love to play around with both doggy friends and humans alike! I am a little shy when meeting new folks, so I might take a little bit of time to warm up, but I warm up very fast with some love and patience. The shelter staff tell me I am a "timid guy" who walks well on leash and they tell me what a good boy I am, and I believe it! I'm crate trained, working on perfecting housetraining, and have already aced a beginner obedience class! I love going for car rides, going on runs (I can go for miles!), and playing fetch! Given my age and breed, exercise is definitely the key to unlocking my chill side. I'm a smart boy and I'm eager to learn, making training easy breezy! I can't wait to meet you and see if we might be a great match!

We adopted our sweet boy from a humane shelter and later learned through DNA testing that he is 100% Border Collie. He has typical herding instincts but is on the lower-drive side for the breed. He is smart, eager to please, and loves playing ball, hiking, and training with his person. He knows basic commands including come, sit, and place, and is both house and crate trained. He can be skittish around small children, so we believe he would do best in a home without young kids. We also want to be transparent about his medical needs. He has an extra vertebra that causes some back pain. He is currently in physical therapy and takes medication to manage his discomfort. His ideal adopter will be willing and able to continue this level of care. He is a loving, intelligent dog who would thrive with someone who enjoys staying active, training, and building a strong bond with their dog.

Otter is a 6 month old mixed breed dog, from New Mexico. He was found wandering alone on the highway and turned into animal control, where no one claimed him. Otter is now in a foster home in Fort Collins. We are guessing him to be. border collie/terrier mix, but he may have many breeds mixed in. He is very sweet and loves to play with other dogs, and has so far been kennel trained and quiet. He barks when he plays but not when alone in his kennel. He is about 23 lbs currently, and probably won't grow to more than 30 lbs full grown. We have not seen him with cats yet. Otter is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines.

Oscar is an almost 2 year old Border Collie mix. Sadly, Oscar spent the majority of his life in a large shelter. He went in when he was about 10 weeks old and stayed there until he was a year and a half, when we were able to get him out. Since then he's been in a foster home. He was very very nervous when he first came in, and wanted nothing to do with new people. He was very gentle however and would just cower or hide when nervous. Since being in foster, he has come a very long way. He walks very well on leash with his trusted people, and doesn't seem scared of car/traffic noises. He is still very shy of new people, but once warmed up he's very sweet and offers tail wags, and likes to be pet. He is kennel trained and likes to go into his kennel as a safe space, and is very food motivated. He is potty trained and will potty on leash. Oscar will need. very patient and quiet home, with the understanding that he will take time to warm up but then will be a very sweet guy. We also recommend he go to a home with other dogs, since he absolutely loves all other dogs and will need a confident dog to show him that things are ok!Oscar is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines.

He loves greeting his people with enthusiasm, chasing a ball during a game of fetch, and then settling in for snuggles once he's burned off some energy. Chief is eager to please, highly food motivated, and a quick learner, making him a great candidate for continued training. He's already making excellent progress with his house training and is working on his leash manners and kennel training. Like many young dogs, he's still learning that hands aren't toys and is practicing polite manners such as "no mouth" and "down." Chief has done wonderfully with children and enjoys the company of other playful dogs. His foster family's 4-year-old is one of his favorite playmates! He's generally a quiet pup, though he may bark when separated from his people as he continues building confidence with alone time. At night, he settles in nicely and sleeps well in either his dog bed or alongside his people. If you're looking for a smart, affectionate companion who's ready for adventure by day and cuddles by night, Chief may be the perfect addition to your family. Chief is a 3-month-old mixed breed who was rescued from a high-intake shelter. This dog's adoption fee is $500 and includes up-to-date vaccinations, microchip, and neuter. Chief is also tested with other dogs, cats, and children. He is working on potty and kennel training in foster care. Pending approval, your application is valid for 1 year, and you will be eligible to request a hold on an individual animal for the Saturday adoption event. We do offer midweek private adoption appointments for approved applicants pending staff, foster home, and vetting schedules. Because we are 100% foster-based, private adoption appointments are only offered for individual animals. Recently, our 9-month-old son was crawling past Marlin. Marlin gave a quick corrective nip/bite that unfortunately caught our son on the face. While it was clearly a boundary-setting response rather than a sustained or aggressive attack, it resulted in a facial injury. Given our son’s young age and mobility, we can no longer safely manage the household environment to prevent another incident. We feel strongly that Marlin deserves a home where he doesn't feel stressed by unpredictable infant behavior.

Meet Lacey Lou! This beautiful 4-year-old Border Collie/German Shepherd mix is a total sweetheart who just wants to be loved. Sit down and she’ll happily rest her head in your lap—her favorite place is right next to her person. Lacey is crate trained, house trained, walks nicely on leash, rides well in the car, and is great with other dogs. She was raised with children and does wonderfully with them. She’s very interested in cats, but she’s learning that the resident feline is, in fact, a permanent member of the household. Lacey Lou was adopted from MHCR as a puppy, but after her family split up, she was given away and eventually ended up in a local Colorado shelter. We’re so happy to have found her again and are determined to help her find the peaceful, loving, forever home she deserves.
