Story
Meet Mimzy! She is a sweet medium sized girl that adores other dogs! She even played with a small dog and is such a happy and smiley girl! She was surrendered to our rescue partner because her family were moving and couldn't take her with them. She's great on a leash and is a social butterfly! From her current foster: " Mimzy is a fun, loving & super playful girl! She is very easily self entertained and plays with toys by herself sometimes. She loves to cuddle and will curl up right next to you if you let her. She is a big fan of treats and loves to receive any form of praise. She is not the biggest fan of skateboards & bicycles or other fast moving things (people running by her) but can be calmed down and responds very well to positive reinforcement when these things approach. She loves her crate and will lay in it occasionally just to relax/calm down, she never barks when in the crate and always is excited to see us when we return. She is very social and loves all people so much, she is a little iffy when it comes to other dogs with a big personality but with some time she comes around and plays well. As a whole Mimzy is a sweet pup who just wants someone to play with her and love her! From her previous foster: "Mimzy is a super sweet energetic dog and she wants to be around people all the time! She loves her stuffed toys and can keep herself occupied for quite a while with them. We are working on leash manners and not pulling but she is making good progress and is very treat motivated. She does great in her crate and does not bark while she is in there! She is not a huge fan of bikes and skateboards while she is on walks, but is redirected fairly easily with treats and pets and is working on barking less at passing people." Party animal alert! Layla is here to bring the good time to any party with her fun loving energy, inviting personality, and silly antics! She's a fun loving girl and she enjoyed romping around with any dog that would play with her, she also loves to throw toys up and play with them too. This girl is even great on a leash so it seems someone has worked with basic cues with her as a pup. From her amazing foster: 'Here's some notes about her: -the best snuggler, loves to cuddle -loves to run, would appreciate a backyard -she wants a doggy friend so badly -knows sit -is initially little wary of new people but warms up quickly -treat motivated -crate trained -working on potty training, a regular schedule with encouragement outside helps! -"guards the fences in the backyard but I think really just wants to protect her people while also saying hi to a new person or dog lol -ALWAYS has a toy in her mouth, will greet you with a gift -loves sticks/bones -has such a soft, shiny coat -the little white tip at the end of her tail is so cute -Velcro dog, will follow you around the house -she'll need someone with structure and patience who will provide lots of mental and physical exercise since she's just a pup -she just wants to love and be loved! Story
Meet Minnie! This sweet gal is a social butterfly who loves attention. She found herself in need of a new forever home after being attacked by the neighbor's dog. :( Despite that, she did great with all dogs at our rescue partner! From her current foster: "Minnie is an absolute angel! She loves giving and getting all the love she can, and if she thinks you haven't pet her enough she'll be sure to let you know. She's very well behaved on walks, but we're working on not stopping in people's paths to force them to say hi. She's great with other dogs and absolutely loves people. She's not very high energy and hasn't shown any interest in toys but she loves going on nice long walks where she can sniff and explore. Her favorite thing to do is cuddle and she'll take any opportunity to crawl into your lap or lay on your chest." Previous shelter staff notes: Minnie is an absolute sweetheart and she loves to be around other dogs! She used to have a loving home to call her own, but the neighbor's dogs got into her yard and tried to attack her. For her own safety, her family made the heartbreaking decision to surrender her in hopes of her finding a new and improved life. Despite having a broken heart, she's very sweet, loving, and is waiting on YOU to give her a chance. She loves all dogs she's met and she avoids any conflict. She's very calm, well mannered, and easy going. She's great on a leash, seems potty trained, and enjoys hanging out in the pool. If you're looking for a dainty soul that's appreciative of any love she can get, Minnie is your girl! Her mature personality has won my heart and once you meet her, you will fall in love too! Meet the "J" babies! These tiny little nuggies were surrendered to our rescue partner after momma had an unexpected litter (hence the importance of spaying and neutering!). They were barely more than a week old at the time of surrender and were hand-raised and bottle fed by some of our rescue partner's most amazing fosters. Now that they're 8 weeks old, they're ready to find the perfect forever home! Updated pictures coming soon. :) ADOPTION FEE: $500 We are a foster-based rescue and generally do not have pups available to meet at our office except during adoption events on Saturdays. Story
This sweet, beautiful girl is Ogallala but everyone calls her Olga. She came to Soul Dog in 2021 fearful and feral. Over the past year in her current foster home, she has gradually blossomed from spending all her time cowering in the corner to spending most of her time lying relaxed in the corner. Olga is very fearful, but also very sweet and gentle. Her instinct is to get away, avoid detection, and be left alone. For the first several months in her current foster home, Olga hid in her selected corner and only snuck around at night to eat. She is not housebroken and has selected a spot in the house where she feels safe going potty. After several months in the house, she started to feel comfortable enough to look out the windows, and then even venture outside onto the balcony. As she has gotten comfortable and gained confidence, she has begun to show affection, as well as a bit of a playful, rambunctious side. She will occasionally join the family on the sofa and will even solicit attention once in a while. She hit a big milestone a couple months ago when she started barking at people from the window and balcony instead of hiding from them. (We are now working on stopping that behavior.) Although she has gained a lot of confidence, Olga still has a lot of fears and triggers. She is terrified of people and loud sounds, and anything that sounds like banging. The sounds of roofers or even kids playing basketball will send her running. She is a master escape artist and bolts when she gets scared, so you will need to be careful and vigilant and have a solid fence. She will go to her next home with a GPS collar just in case. She has come a long way over the past year with her foster and is starting to learn that some people and places aren't so bad. She needs a kind and understanding person to give her the patience, quiet, time, and love that she desperately needs.

Story
Meet Bell! Such a sweet and happy girl! She's also the perfect medium size at right around 40 pounds! From Bell's foster: "Bell is a sweet, goofy girl who is loyal to her people. I did find out the hard way she is a bit of an escape artist, so a yard with a reliable fence is a must for this girl. Bell is still such a puppy and has so much energy, but once she gets better mannered on a leash, she would love to go hiking and be out in nature. We took her with us on a recent trip, and she did great in the car and loved when we were able to let her roam around. Bell has never met a stranger on a walk recently. An elderly neighbor wanted to meet her, and we are working on not jumping, so while walking up to the lady, I told her off, and she was very sweet with the lady. She is happiest when she is around people. I believe she would do best in a house with another dog close to her in size to have a friend and playmate. I don't have cats, so I'm not sure how she would do around them, but my dogs are small, and she annoys them at times, but that has more to do with the fact that she wants to herd them but hasn't ever been aggressive to them in a way that concerned me. Bell is very loyal, and I have caught her sitting in front of my doggie door at night, wanting to protect the house from the outside world." From Bell's previous foster: "Yesterday she went on an adventure. She walked great. She absolutley loves everyone she meets. Happy wagging tail all the time. We are working on "off" with her with other strangers (though truly she knows no stranger). She is so active and happy girl. I adore this little girls energy. She has been great at teaching her other foster sister manners with our personal dog. She has the best and most loving pitty energy. She is a great teacher towards her foster sister. This girl deserves such a great home who will enjoy her active and social energy." "I just wanted to send you another update on Bell. She is doing great! She is super comfortable in her crate and only barks for a few minutes before settling down. At night she sleeps wonderfully in the crate. She is a huge ball of energy and needs lots of mental and physical stimulation otherwise she can get destructive. I have noticed she has a really large prey drive so I have kept her away from the cat and would not recommend her to go to a home with small animals. She is also super, super strong and needs someone who is able to handle her strength. When she sees something on walks that she wants to get to it's difficult to stop her. Other than that she is a wiggly goofball and super sweet and wants endless attention from her humans!!! She is super food motivated making training her a breeze. I was also wondering if I need to bring her to the adoption event Saturday and how that would work. Thanks!! (Also some adorable pics of the baby)" Previous shelter staff notes - very sweet girl who loves to snuggle but also loves to play rough & rowdy. She could match energy with dogs, sometimes she was very playful running all over the place & at other times she sat & watched the yard.
