Story
Abelia is the perfect dog. Loving, smart, beautiful, cuddly, stays with her person, active but not hyper, medium sized, adult but still young, great with dogs of all sizes, great with cats and kittens, walks well on the leash, does well in a crate, not a barker. She was dumped with another dog and a local resident reached out for help so the dogs wouldn't starve or get hit by a car. They are now safe at the rescue. She is currently still in Oklahoma where she was rescued but she can only be adopted out of state where people treat animals well. She has to be prepaid and picked up directly from transport at one of our transport drop off locations below. If things don't work out for some reason, which rarely ever happens, we will either find a local foster to take her in or she will go back to Oklahoma on our next transport until a new home is found. Note: No dogs are advertised as potty-trained because most dogs need at least some re-training in a new environment and after being in a shelter/rescue environment/strays. www.facebook.com/desideratarescue (copy and paste into a new browser window) Transport locations: - Washington State (Kennewick, Spokane, Tacoma, Lynnwood/Edmonds, Bellingham) - Oregon (Portland and Springfield) - Colorado (Ft Lupton) - Idaho (Heyburn and Boise/Meridian) - Utah (Ogden) - Wyoming (Evanston, Rock Springs, Laramie) - Montana (Missoula) - Illinois (Vandalia, Springfield, Chicago) - Indiana (Spiceland, Burn Harbor) - Michigan (St Joseph, Battle Creek, Ann Arbor) - Wisconsin (Madison, Wausau, Eau Claire, Appleton, Milwaukee) - Minnesota (Minneapolis/St Paul) - Iowa (Des Moines) - Ohio (Columbus and London) - Pennsylvania (Erie, Pittsburgh and Harrisburg) - New York (Buffalo and Albany) - Connecticut (Enfield) - New Jersey (Bedminster) - Nevada (Las Vegas) - Arizona (Flagstaff) Vetting: spayed, microchipped, rabies vaccine, bordetella vaccine, dhpp vaccine x 3, lepto vaccine x 2, dewormed several times, on monthly flea and tick prevention, on monthly heartworm protection. Too young for a heartworm test. Adoption fee: $650 (includes the $250 cost of transport from Oklahoma and all vetting listed above) Adoption application (copy and paste into a new browser window): https://form.jotform.com/82677586784176 FAQs (copy and paste into a new browser window): https://docs.google.com/document/d/12eb_SRtk1AzaBl87UltcLJ24MjH9UhQm_LE77iWZEQA/edit?tab=t.0 Desiderata Rescue is Oklahoma Licensed Rescue #95

Story
Are you looking for a constant companion in a tiny little package? You will want to meet Danny. We think he’s a miniature Australian shepherd mix (with a dash of fox and lemur mixed in for good measure) and is around 25 lbs. Regardless of his breed, he’s a 100% sweetheart. When he’s awake, he will be gazing deeply into your eyes, and when he’s asleep, he will be snuggled right up against you. He’s a puppy (just under a year old) and is still learning about house training, but that’s nothing that a belly band can’t solve while he’s learning. He’s worth being patient with because once he bonds, he is loyal and true. He takes baths like a champ—no sensitive feet issues with Danny. He also loves to take walks, but be ready for sudden pulls if he sees a rabbit or squirrel because he’s prey-driven. For that reason, a house without rabbits, guinea pigs or other small mammals is important. He is likely to thrive in a variety of households. He’s comfortable living with other dogs, both big and small, and males and females. However, being with his person is his favorite thing, so a home where he will have your company throughout the day will suit him the best. He is so sweet and submissive that he would likely do really well in a home with children, too. Danny is in foster in Aurora, Colorado. *We require all adopters to come to Colorado to adopt. *We do not transport dogs. * You can view this wonderful dog at https://www.milehighcanine.org/post/dogs/danny You can apply for our wonderful dogs at https://www.milehighcanine.org/adopt/adoption-application/.

Story
Our little beautiful Roxy is something else! She is so intelligent and happy, and wants to be with a family. She adores children, and the seven year old in the house has taught her to fetch and lots of other things. She is gentle and precious, only about 30 pounds at a year, so is smaller, and loves getting attention. She is crate trained and house trained, enjoys other dogs, loves being outside, and walks well on a leash. She is ready for her forever best friend. She enjoys water, tummy rubs, and showing off how smart she can be. She is a bit frightened of cars rushing by and can be a little shy when she first meets you, but when she comes in for scratches, it is such an amazing feeling. Roxy enjoys everything about having a family, and cannot wait to find her forever!

Story
Our petite Coney is a special soul, who just wants to be loved by her people. Left abandoned after her family moved, she is ready to find a life partner in adventure, relaxation, and love. She is only 28 pounds and is fully grown, so we put her as a small dog simply so she would not get overlooked. She fits right in between your legs and will snuggle there. She would love to be a lap dog and walks well on a leash. She enjoys playing with other dogs, and is polite about that, though being with people is what she would always prefer, and she would like to be an only dog with doggie friends. She is medium energy, and loves to lie under a desk while you are working or by your feet in the kitchen. She lives with a dog-savvy cat in the foster home and does just fine. She is quite well-behaved and loves her crate as her safe space. Coney has a smile on her face most of the time, and is a gentle soul ready for her forever!
