Story
Meet S’mores! This 33lb, 3-year-old, Mini Aussie Shepherd was picked up running in the street and brought to the shelter, and while the busy, loud environment has her feeling a little nervous, her sweet personality shines through almost immediately. She may start off timid, but she warms up quickly once she knows she’s safe—and then her friendly, affectionate side comes out.She loves to play with stuffies, is very treat-motivated, and happily engages with people who offer a gentle approach (and snacks!). S’mores has also shown interest in a couple of other dogs, suggesting she could enjoy a canine friend with the right introductions. With a calmer home, patience, and lots of positive reinforcement, S’mores is sure to blossom into a loving, playful companion. She’s just waiting for someone to give her the chance. We do all adoptions with approved applicants by appointment only. If you are interested in adopting, please contact us via FB Messenger or email us at jcasreception@johnsoncounty.in.gov for an application. You can also find one on our website at http://johnsoncountyanimalshelter.com/adopt/. Once an application is submitted and approved, we can set an appointment to meet the pet!

Story
We’ve had Wickett for the last 5 years. He has traveled many states with us and hiked many trails and has ran freely as a farm dog in between. We believe now at this stage of his life he would do best with an experienced family with no kids or kids that are older and can respect his space. Our son is in his toddler years and there is a lot of sporadic movements and food that puts him in difficult situations. He is friendly around our son and enjoys his pets when they are supervised. He is muzzle trained. Very sweet and loving dog. Wants to be with/near his people. Is very smart and food driven. Loves to chase squirrels/small animals and can jump 4ft fence. Meets new people best when he is outside in open space. Let him approach in his own time. Very protective of his space and area. He knows sit, stay, down, paw, touch. He has a dog brother for past 5 years and takes time being introduced to other dogs and animals.

Story
Willow is around 2 years old. We love Willow but unfortunately we became tight on money and are forced to work more just to cover bills and are not able provide the home Willow needs. She is high energy and very friendly. She is kennel trained and potty trained. She does manage to escape our 4 foot tall chain link fence by jumping over it so she would do best in a home with a taller fence or someone who has time to walk her everyday. She always stays in the neighbor hood but I am worried she could be hit by a car as we live close to a main road. If we could afford to build a taller fence I would definitely keep Willow. She is due for her annual shots but unfortunately I cannot afford to take her to the vet right now. She is treated with a topical tick prevention monthly. Willow would be a great addition to a home with other high energy dogs and older children. She also would do very well on a farm or a home with land for her to run.

Story
Her name is Athena Marie, she is a 5 year old Australian Sheppard/ pit mix, who secretly thinks she’s a lap dog! She is a very lovable dog, who gets along with children of all ages. She also gets along well with female dogs and any gender cat! She loves to play with toys, knows how to give paw and sit. Athena is house trained and would come supplied with a cage, leash, and harness, plus a food bowl. She is my sisters dog, but due to housing situations she can no longer take care of her, so I took her in hoping to find her a permanent home! But due to my own living situation and having 2 fur babies of my own I’m trying to find her a very loving family with room in their hearts for a very big baby!
