Story
This is a courtesy post. Please do not contact Heart of the Foothills Animal Rescue for information. Contact information is provided in the description below.Penny is a little less than a year old. She's spayed and weighs around 50 pounds. We believe she is a chocolate lab/Australian shepherd mix. She does well with cats as long as they don't chase her. She is housebroken. She's a very sweet dog but she is very rambunctious and needs a lot of room to run. If you are interested in adopting Penny please email angelicawhisenant@gmail.com

Story
Here’s another pup for the small dog lovers! ♥️🐾Meet Texie! This gorgeous, spunky girl is an Aussie Chihuahua mix and while we’re not totally sure what else is in there, we do know she’s incredibly sweet!Texie can be a little shy at first, but once she’s comfortable, her personality shines through in the best way. She’s great with other dogs and loves having canine friends to hang out with. And when she bonds with you? She becomes VERY Velcro always wanting to be close, right by your side soaking up all the love. She’ll keep you entertained with her goofy antics rolling in the grass, full-speed zoomies, and chasing every bug she can find. Her favorite hobby, though, might just be making every treat within reach disappear in record time!😂Because she can be a bit timid at first, Texie would do best in a calmer home with older kids, or younger kids who understand she needs a little time, quiet and space to warm up and show her true personality! Texie is around 4 months old and weighs 13 pounds, so she’ll stay on the smaller side perfect for someone looking for a petite, loyal companion. It can be a little hard to tell from photos, but Texie has sectoral heterochromia in one of her eyes, meaning she has a unique mix of colors within the same eye. This is not an injury just a natural and beautiful variation in her eye color! We’ve had a few questions about it, so we wanted to share for clarity 😊Come meet this sweet, silly girl you might just find your new best friend! 💕🐶Come by or give us a call!Puppies 6 months and under are typically $200 and dogs from 7 months to 6 years are typically $100.00. Story
This is 11 year old Stella. Her mom adopted her as a puppy from us in 2014. Stella's mom is having some health issues that require her to go to a nursing home. At this point her family is not sure if it will be temporary or long term. Her main concern is Stella, which she considers her 3rd child. Since Stella is an ABLAR alumni, we want to step up for Stella and her mom. WE NEED A FOSTER FOR STELLA ASAP !! She is house, leash and crate trained. Super sweet and loving. Stella weighs approx 50 lbs. She is still very active and loves squeaky toys. She has been the only furbaby but does get along with other dog friendly dogs. Cats unfortunately are not a good mix for Stella. She is also used to a fenced in yard but that would not be necessary since she is leash trained. Please contact 828-612-2951 if you can foster Stella for us. We try to limit our travel time for home visits to a two-hour driving range (about 75 miles) from Morganton, NC. Please visit http://www.abetterlifeanimalrescue.com/adopt-a-pet.html for an adoption application.

Story
Bear the SWEETHEART!! Estimated Birthday: 11/3/25 Estimated Size: Medium to Large Bear is the male runt from a litter of 8. He currently weighs 18 lbs. He is very sweet and loving! His mama babied him a little more than the others. As a result, he is very loving but also seems to be very humble. He shows demure confidence in meeting new people and visiting new environments. He is a snuggle bug, and loves to be babied! He is a very very sweet boy. Most of the time quiet and bashful, but has already began finding his voice. Loves to be held and petted more than anything, but also more than happy to be active and playing games. LOVES playing in the water. Absolute cuddle bug and he is so precious. (He was mommas boy when they were tiny pups). Bear is in need of a foster home ASAP!! You provide the love, we will continue to provide food, vet care, preventative meds, and supplies. All American Mix. His mama appears to be a Boxer mix. We think they may potentially have some pitbull terrier, lab, hound. Bear is colored more like a Border Collie, and has soft fuzzy hair. We try to limit our travel time for home visits to a two-hour driving range (about 75 miles) from Morganton, NC. Please visit http://www.abetterlifeanimalrescue.com/adopt-a-pet.html for an adoption application, or call 828-612-2951.
