Story
Luna is a gorgeous blue merle Mini Aussie (~27 lbs, 7 yrs) with a striking blue crescent moon in her brown eyes and fluffy coat. She has been with us since age 1. She is smart, loving, and full of life. Highly intelligent, she needs mental work or a job to stay balanced and happy. Affectionate, relaxed after exercise, great with people, excellent at boarding, shines at dog parks, and loves frisbee catch. Fully vaccinated with solid obedience training. As a herding breed, she has protective instincts and may nip/herd when stressed. She thrived on our half-acre but struggles with younger kids in our blended family, with a few minor bites in high-stress moments. She would excel in a calm home with older kids (or none), experienced herding-breed owners, plenty of space, and purpose (herding, agility, hikes, tasks). We adore her and want her to have her happiest life. Would love to get updates/photos for our 12-year-old girls. Perfect for an active, experienced owner with space.

Story
Pistachio is a one-year-old, medium sized, mixed-breed with a totally mysterious lineage & backstory (he was found as a stray). Whatever his breed mix (maybe some kind of shepherd with all that fluff?), it clearly includes equal parts good looks, goofiness, and friendliness. Personal space? Pistachio’s never heard of it. He loves affection and will happily park himself at your feet, on your lap, or anywhere he can be close to his people. He’d make a great work from home companion. He’s a great car rider so would also enjoy accompanying you on any weekend adventures. When it comes to playtime, Pistachio is wonderfully self-sufficient. He’s tried just about every toy in the bin and can entertain himself, but he also loves a good game of tug or fetch when you’re up for it. Pistachio gets along well with other playful pups (he’s currently fostered with 2 other dogs) and would be thrilled to have a tolerant or equally energetic doggy sibling—or he’ll happily take all your attention as a solo sidekick. He’s the perfect fit for an active person that’s willing to maintain the structure he’s accustomed to and continue working on basic obedience. He’s very food motivated, which makes him easy to train. His foster, who has professional dog training experience, is also more than willing to offer support after adoption as well. Pistachio is UTD on vaccines, kept on flea/tick/heartworm prevention, neutered & microchipped. His adoption fee is $350. If you are interested in adopting, please go to our website and fill out an application. www.thefosterdoghouse.org/adopt

Story
Meet three year old Sienna, a beautiful Aussie mix girl who is such a sweetheart. She was found abandoned in the middle of a highly traveled road. She is crate trained, and working on her house training. She does well with other dogs given slow introductions. She is a wonderful size at only 38 pounds. Could she be the girl for you? Continue reading and fill out our on line application RECOMMENDATIONS & PROCEDURES Please note, the following are recommendations for puppies and different breeds of dogs. We will evaluate each application on an individual basis to see what is best for the dog/puppy and the potential adopter. Puppies are very fragile and not toys. We recommend children be at least six years old to be considered to adopt a puppy. Small breed dogs ( such as chihuahuas, yorkies, shih tzus , etc) we recommend children be at least eight years old. Herding, working breeds we recommend children to be at least 12 years old. Again these are recommendations. Adoption Procedures: We will travel up to two hours ( one way) to do physical home visits and we do not do virtual home visits. ( we are in Cleveland County NC) Most of our dogs come from bad situations and we want to know where their forever home is going to be. While we do not require fencing on all dogs, certain dogs that need a fenced in yard, will not be adopted unless potential adopter has one. We also adopt some dogs to people who live in apartments ( as long as the landlord approves) but not all dogs. We do not adopt to anyone under 21 years of age. We also do not feel college students are the best fit for most of our dogs. Most of our dogs again, come from bad situations and need lots of attention. Most college students have financial responsibilities and we feel need to be focused on school. Our goal is to match the dog with a family that fits the dog’s needs. We are solely focused on what is best for each dog in our rescue. These dogs have had enough moving around, dumped out like trash, and we want to ensure they find their forever home. We do require you sign a contract and if at any time you cannot continue to provide for the dog, the dog comes back to the rescue. Your first step to adoption is filling our our on line application. You will then get an automated email stating we got your application Next our adoption coordinator will be in touch either by phone or email If your references check out, a home visit will be scheduled. After the home visit is done, a meet and greet with the dog you are interested in and/or any other available dogs we have will be scheduled If the dog and you are a match, contract will be signed and you may take your new family member home.
