Story
Hi! My name is Silas! My owners were unable to keep me as they’re having to move and my foster mom is about to have a baby and can’t keep four dogs! I get along with one of my foster moms dogs but was unsure about the other. I’m two and a half years old and I am house broken and kennel trained! My previous owners had kids and I loved them from what my foster mom was told!

Story
Ready to go nuts for Pistachio? Say hello to Pistachio, a young shepherd mix bursting with energy, personality, and a whole lot of love to give! At just around a year old, Pistachio is a wiggle butt and doesn’t sit still for long when out & about. At home he’s as cuddly as he is fluffy. He’s learning the art of settling with routine & consistency thanks to his foster who has professional dog training experience. We don’t know his exact breed mix but we suspect he has some type of herding genes. A home without young kids would be best. Pistachio gets along well with other playful pups and would be thrilled to have a tolerant or equally energetic doggy sibling—or he’ll happily take all your attention as a solo sidekick. He’s the perfect fit for an active person that’s willing to maintain the structure he’s accustomed to and continue working on basic obedience. His foster is also more than willing to offer training support after adoption as well. Pistachio is housebroken, crate trained, & rides well in a car. Pistachio is UTD on vaccines, kept on flea/tick/heartworm prevention, neutered & microchipped. His adoption fee is $300. If you are interested in adopting, please go to our website and fill out an application. www.thefosterdoghouse.org/adopt

Story
If you're looking for a dog that is goofy and loves to snuggle, Blizzard is the one! She is a very sweet Australian Shepherd/Lab mix and has been an incredible addition to our family. She's great with kids and has been around 7 and 8 year olds during her time with us. She lets the kids wrestle with her on the floor, but never gets too rough (usually just lays there and takes it). Unfortunately, our family is going through some changes and we no longer can provide a home that Blizzard and her sister, Maple, deserve. We're hoping to find a family that is ready to take on a younger dog and give Blizzard the love that she deserves!

Story
Maple (brown nose) and Blizzard (white nose) are sisters from the same litter. The sisters have lived together for their entire lives so far. So we'd like to keep the two of them together if possible. They both are very sweet Australian Shepherd/Lab mixes and have been an incredible addition to our family. They're great with kids and have been around a 7 and 8 year old during their time with us. They both let the kids wrestle with them on the floor, but never get too rough for the kids. Be careful though, they might intrude into your personal space if you're not a snuggler!! Unfortunately, our family is going through some changes and we no longer can provide a home that Maple and her sister, Blizzard, deserve. We're hoping to find a family that has plenty of room for the sisters to run and burn off all the energy that builds up being a shepherd mix.

Story
Meet three year old Sienna, a beautiful Aussie mix girl who is such a sweetheart. She was found abandoned in the middle of a highly traveled road. She is crate trained, and working on her house training. She does well with other dogs given slow introductions. She is a wonderful size at only 38 pounds. Could she be the girl for you? Continue reading and fill out our on line application RECOMMENDATIONS & PROCEDURES Please note, the following are recommendations for puppies and different breeds of dogs. We will evaluate each application on an individual basis to see what is best for the dog/puppy and the potential adopter. Puppies are very fragile and not toys. We recommend children be at least six years old to be considered to adopt a puppy. Small breed dogs ( such as chihuahuas, yorkies, shih tzus , etc) we recommend children be at least eight years old. Herding, working breeds we recommend children to be at least 12 years old. Again these are recommendations. Adoption Procedures: We will travel up to two hours ( one way) to do physical home visits and we do not do virtual home visits. ( we are in Cleveland County NC) Most of our dogs come from bad situations and we want to know where their forever home is going to be. While we do not require fencing on all dogs, certain dogs that need a fenced in yard, will not be adopted unless potential adopter has one. We also adopt some dogs to people who live in apartments ( as long as the landlord approves) but not all dogs. We do not adopt to anyone under 21 years of age. We also do not feel college students are the best fit for most of our dogs. Most of our dogs again, come from bad situations and need lots of attention. Most college students have financial responsibilities and we feel need to be focused on school. Our goal is to match the dog with a family that fits the dog’s needs. We are solely focused on what is best for each dog in our rescue. These dogs have had enough moving around, dumped out like trash, and we want to ensure they find their forever home. We do require you sign a contract and if at any time you cannot continue to provide for the dog, the dog comes back to the rescue. Your first step to adoption is filling our our on line application. You will then get an automated email stating we got your application Next our adoption coordinator will be in touch either by phone or email If your references check out, a home visit will be scheduled. After the home visit is done, a meet and greet with the dog you are interested in and/or any other available dogs we have will be scheduled If the dog and you are a match, contract will be signed and you may take your new family member home.
