You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.  River here, If I say so myself, I am a handsome, exceptionally sweet and fun-loving Australian Shepherd mix, who is ready to bring joy and companionship to your home! My mom has a chronic illness and needs to re-home me. At just 1.5 years old and 55 pounds, I have a playful spirit and a high energy level, that makes me the perfect adventure buddy. Whether you're going for a hike, swimming in a lake or river,  or just lounging on the couch, I will be right by your side. I have nothing but love in me. I am  an affectionate boy who thrives on companionship and connection. I am very attuned to energy, so I know when to support. I am house-trained, leash trained, do not destroy household items and get along beautifully with other dogs and children, making me an ideal addition to any family. My loving nature and friendly demeanor will melt your heart! I was hit by a car at a year old. I had a break on my left front leg. Xrays were done recently and it showed it did not heal properly. We will have a consult with an ortho Dr, to determine if a surgery could make it right. Otherwise, I may need an amputation. This cost will be on the rescue.Us dogs don't care about being handicapped. We adjust. This kind of surgery can be from $5-$7,000. Being I am young, the rescue may try to raise funds to save my leg. We will keep you updated.   River would thrive in an active household where he can receive plenty of exercise, mental stimulation, family adventurers as he loves riding in the car and camping. He’s looking for a loving family who can appreciate his sweet personality and provide him with the care and attention he deserves. If you're ready to open your heart and home to a furry friend who will fill your life with love and laughter, then River is the perfect match for you! Come meet him today, fall in love, and see just how wonderful life can be with River by your side! **WE ARE CURRENTLY DOING ADOPTIONS BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. YOU MUST CALL TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT IF YOU'RE INTERESTED IN ADOPTING. PLEASE LEAVE US A VOICEMAIL IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO REACH US. THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE AND UNDERSTANDING.- CCDP STAFF** Hi there. My name is Jingles. I'm about 1 1/2 years old and I weigh about 55 lbs. I was found as a stray in the Calcutta area and I was brought into the pound. I am a very sweet, energetic boy looking for a new family to love. I have been very good with people and I love going out for walks with the volunteers. I know some basic commands and I so appear to have been a house dog. I have been good around the other dogs here at the pound, but should meet any dogs I will live with in a new home to make sure we're compatible. If you're looking for a sweet dog to add to your family, please consider adopting me. Our adoption fee is $152. We accept cash, check or credit/ debit cards for adoption fees. If you pay using a credit or debit card, a convenience fee of 2.39% will also be applied. If paying by check, you will need 2. One Check will be for the dog license, and one will be for your dog's adoption fee, which includes heartworm testing (for dogs 6 months of age old and older), parvo/distemper vaccine, rabies vaccine, bordetella vaccine, 3 days of panacur de-wormer, spay or neuter surgery, microchip, and a current Ohio dog license. We DO offer foster to adopt. (We will NOT accept cash for foster to adopt). We highly recommend you do a foster to adopt with your new dog if you are not 100% sure your new dog is going to work out in your home. Foster to adopt gives you a couple of weeks with the dog to make sure they are a good fit with your family before your payment is processed and the adoption is finalized. ALL DOGS/PUPPIES WILL BE SPAYED OR NEUTERED unless a health issue prohibits the surgery from being performed. Not all dogs posted for adoption are spayed/ neutered yet. If you're driving a long distance to adopt, please verify that the vetting process has been completed and dog you're interested in adopting is still available for adoption. The above mentioned vetting is all included in your adoption fee. The adoption fee and what is included in the adoption fee is NON-NEGOTIABLE. Adoptions MUST be done at the pound and in person as there is paperwork to fill out and an adoption contract that must be signed by the adopter. This means you must be willing to travel to our shelter to adopt. If the dog you're interested in adopting has medical conditions or injuries which require medical treatment, we ask that you help with the medical bills, in addition to their adoption fee if possible so we can continue to help the dogs coming in who need additional vet care. We are a county run shelter, therefore we cannot control our intake or the health or behavior of the dogs that come in to our shelter. Although we try our hardest to place all of our adoptable dogs, there are certain circumstances in which any dog in our care could be euthanized at any time and without further notice (IE: sudden untreatable medical condition or injury, temperament or behavioral problems which may not be apparent when the dog first arrives, etc.), therefore all dogs at our shelter should be considered urgent. We try our absolute hardest to never have to euthanize for space and have not had to do so for many years thanks to the ongoing support from the public and high adoption rates. Please remember; the adoption of a more highly adoptable dog will mean more time for the less adoptable dog in the kennel next to him! Shelter hours are Monday-Friday: 8 am- 4 pm. Saturday, Sunday and holidays: 8 am - 12 pm. Adoptions are always welcome any day of the week/ weekend and on holidays. We are here everyday to care for the dogs and the best way to make our day is to see our dogs go to loving families. There is nobody in the office on Saturday, Sunday or holidays, so therefore, we are unable to answer or return phone calls over the weekend. We are only staffed to take care of the dogs and do adoptions over the weekends/ on holidays. Can't adopt a dog? We would love to have more volunteers who are able to spend time with our dogs! The dogs LOVE going for walks and the socialization and exercise helps make the dogs more adoptable. THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE AND UNDERSTANDING.- CCDP STAFF** Hi there. My name is Jenny. I'm about 6 1/2 years old and I weigh about 45 lbs. My sister and I were originally surrendered to the pound back in July 2023. I was quickly adopted, but unfortunately I was recently returned because of issues of having food aggression towards his new wife's small dogs. I am a bit on the timid side when I meet new people, but I do warm up. I typically warm up faster with men and I seem to be more of a "man's dog", but I also do well with women once I get the chance to know them and bond with them. I am a very good girl in the house and I am housebroken. I was trained to an invisible fence system and I did good on it. Other than my issues with food, I was good with the other dogs in the home, so if I am fed completely separate and all food bowls are picked up after meals, I should be able to peacefully exist in a home with other dogs. I do good with the other dogs here at the pound. If you're looking for a sweet companion to add to your family, please consider adopting me. Our adoption fee is $152. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Board Game puppiesTwister is one of eight adorable puppies who got the best start in life thanks to Doberman Underground! Their brave mom was found as a stray and taken to a shelter, where it was discovered she was pregnant. Thankfully, DU stepped in to ensure she had a safe place to deliver and raise her pups. While their mom appeared to be a purebred Doberman, DNA results revealed that she is actually a unique blend! Twister and her siblings are a mix of several wonderful breeds, including Doberman, American Pitbull Terrier, Australian Shepherd, Labrador Retriever, and Boxer. These pups are going to be big, cuddly dogs with loving personalities and lots of energy! Twister is a well-socialized, playful pup who will thrive in a home with a confident canine companion to help show the ropes. As a large-breed mix, she will need an experienced owner who understands the commitment of raising a big, energetic pup. At this young age, she will adapt well to kids and cats with proper introductions. Training is a must to help Twister grow into a well-mannered adult, so be sure you have the time and dedication for a growing puppy. A spay/neuter contract is required. If you're ready to bring this lovable pup into your home, apply today at www.DUdobes.org!
