Story
Meet Blue – a Sweet, Loyal Mini Australian Shepherd Looking for an Active Home 💙 Blue is a loving and attentive mini Australian Shepherd with a gentle heart and an energetic spirit. He’s wonderful with people and has grown up surrounded by family life. About Blue: • Very sweet, affectionate, and attentive • Gets along well with both men and women • Lived happily with another smaller dog for a long time and does well with most dogs • Grew up with multiple small children—pushing, pulling, and poking never fazed him; he tolerated it all patiently • Playful and energetic, especially when it comes to being outdoors • LOVES walks and can happily go on long ones • Does well in the car • Minimal to moderate barking—he’ll alert you to knocks or loud sounds, making him a great little alert dog, but is otherwise quiet Blue would truly thrive in a home that can give him daily walks and regular exercise, which his current family is unfortunately unable to provide.

Story
PEDICO FEMALE 24 LBS 2 YRS Pedico made her way to rescue after her owner passed away. We do not have any background on her - age and breed are estimates. She loves to play with her foster dog siblings and ignores the house cats. Crate trained - working on establishing a routine/housebreaking. She is very nervous when meeting new people, and isn't a fan of being picked up. Rides quietly in the car (crated) She does have a nervous habit of pacing/spinning in circles- in living room or if in a larg crate* is good ND settles in size appropriate crate. This animal is up to date on all shots, dewormed, and spayed/neutered. They have been heartworm tested (negative) and on prevention.  The adoption fee is $275.00 If you are interested in adopting this pet please fill out an application. http://www.ajssearchandrescue.org/adoption-application  January 20, 2026, 1:27 pm

Story
Margie is a sweet Shetland Sheepdog Sheltie/Australian Shepherd mix girl weighing in at 46 pounds. Paws and Prayers received her after she and her sister were hit by a car. Another rescue took her sister. Margie limped and had a luxated patella so we took her to access possible surgery. Unfortunately when blood work was completed she had all three tick diseases with a finding of 467. The three kind of tick diseases were Anaplasmosis, Ehrlichiosis and Lyme. A reading of 30 means they are experiencing problems with the tick disease so three vets were talked to had NEVER seen 467 and referred the findings to specialty vets who said it was not a time for surgery.. Also, she had a corona virus in her blood. Surgery could not be completed under these circumstances. If the leg was operated on it would probably get infected and would be of no use.  So we waited and she had several doses of antibiotics. It took 5 months to clear her blood but by that time scar tissue formed on the leg and she would not get much relief from surgery. She will always have a little bit of a limp and need medication as arthritis will probably set in as she gets older. She will need Carprofen and Gabapentin the rest of her life. Her foster mom has been paying for it and says it would cost about $33 a month. She would also need to be checked in another six months to verify extent of tick disease and recovery rate.  And of course, she will need to be on heartworm and flea medications. Definitely needs a home without too many steps. She can go down my three steps to the outside but I have to lift her back end up to get her up the steps. Margie is frightened of new people but once she bonds with you , she will love so deeply, you will never be able to let her go. Her adoption fee is $350. You will need to complete a non-obligatory application at www.pawsandprayers.org in order to meet her. Any questions, email marty@pawsandprayers.org.   This pet qualifies for the Pets for Patriots program  https://www.petsforpatriots.org/veterans/ December 5, 2025, 3:39 am

Story
Sweet 1 year old Amy is in the market for a new loving home and would prefer a more quiet laid back setting. She is 35 lbs of a perfect mix of australian shepherd (her dad) and boxer/pit mix (her mom). A single lady would be prefered as she's not quite sure of men yet, but we are sure could learn to love them too? She did spend the first 6 months of her life in a pen outside with her littermates, so we would love a new owner that can work with her on socializing. Once in a new home, she is loving and a loyal velcro pooch. Amy has completed a 6 week training course. No children please, as she was adopted and returned due to her being afraid of littles! If you would like to be considered to adopt Amy please fill out the application today. She is up to date on vaccines, spayed, microchipped, and a loving little girl. Her adoption fee is $300. To meet her you can do a non-obligatory application at www.pawsandprayers.org.  Any questions, email kreuger9367@yahoo.com      January 21, 2026, 1:13 pm

Story
This handsome 5-year-old Australian Shepherd is the total package — smart, loyal, and full of love! Max knows basic commands, is fully housebroken, and enjoys toys, bones, and relaxing in his crate, though he prefers to be by your side. He walks well on a leash but may pull or react when he sees other dogs. He’s played nicely with dogs before, but slow introductions work best. Max loves being with his person, whether he’s fetching a ball, getting belly rubs, or resting his head in your lap. Like most Aussies, he’s alert, aware of his surroundings, and may try to herd small children or animals. He’ll thrive in a home familiar with herding breeds and able to guide his energy in a positive way. Max needs a yard to run in or someone who is reasonably active to help him stay happy and balanced through walks, play, and mental stimulation. Adoption is $300 which includes his neuter, age-appropriate vaccines, microchip and current monthly prevention. To fill out an application for this animal or a general application click HERE.All animals are up to date on age appropriate shots, microchipped and fixed. To meet one of our animals we require an approved application. You can fill one out at https://tobyscrittercoverescue.org/adoptionapp/ January 24, 2026, 10:17 am

**WE ARE CURRENTLY DOING ADOPTIONS BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. YOU MUST CALL TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT IF YOU'RE INTERESTED IN ADOPTING. PLEASE LEAVE US A VOICEMAIL IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO REACH US. THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE AND UNDERSTANDING.- CCDP STAFF** Hi there. My name is Dory. I'm about 4 years old and I weigh about 66 lbs. I was brought into the pound by someone that claimed to have found me as a stray and that he had me for a week or so... I came into the pound with a prolapsed vagina, which required an emergency surgery. I have now healed up and I am doing wonderful. True to my breeds, I can be aloof with strangers and protective of my people and space. It might take me a little while to warm up to new people, but baby talk and treats work wonders with winning me over. Once I get to know you, I am extremely sweet, playful and affectionate. I love getting attention and playing with my people. I have done well with the other dogs I've met here at the pound, but I do not do well with cats and would do best in a feline-free family. I do a good job of keeping my kennel clean. I do have some occasional accidents, but not often. If you're looking for a sweet dog to add to your family, please consider adopting me. Our adoption fee is $152. We accept cash, check or credit/ debit cards for adoption fees. If you pay using a credit or debit card, a convenience fee of 2.39% will also be applied. If paying by check, you will need 2. One Check will be for the dog license, and one will be for your dog's adoption fee, which includes heartworm testing (for dogs 6 months of age old and older), parvo/distemper vaccine, rabies vaccine, bordetella vaccine, 3 days of panacur de-wormer, spay or neuter surgery, microchip, and a current Ohio dog license. We DO offer foster to adopt. (We will NOT accept cash for foster to adopt). We highly recommend you do a foster to adopt with your new dog if you are not 100% sure your new dog is going to work out in your home. Foster to adopt gives you a couple of weeks with the dog to make sure they are a good fit with your family before your payment is processed and the adoption is finalized. ALL DOGS/PUPPIES WILL BE SPAYED OR NEUTERED unless a health issue prohibits the surgery from being performed. Not all dogs posted for adoption are spayed/ neutered yet. If you're driving a long distance to adopt, please verify that the vetting process has been completed and dog you're interested in adopting is still available for adoption. The above mentioned vetting is all included in your adoption fee. The adoption fee and what is included in the adoption fee is NON-NEGOTIABLE. Adoptions MUST be done at the pound and in person as there is paperwork to fill out and an adoption contract that must be signed by the adopter. This means you must be willing to travel to our shelter to adopt. If the dog you're interested in adopting has medical conditions or injuries which require medical treatment, we ask that you help with the medical bills, in addition to their adoption fee if possible so we can continue to help the dogs coming in who need additional vet care. We are a county run shelter, therefore we cannot control our intake or the health or behavior of the dogs that come in to our shelter. Although we try our hardest to place all of our adoptable dogs, there are certain circumstances in which any dog in our care could be euthanized at any time and without further notice (IE: sudden untreatable medical condition or injury, temperament or behavioral problems which may not be apparent when the dog first arrives, etc.), therefore all dogs at our shelter should be considered urgent. We try our absolute hardest to never have to euthanize for space and have not had to do so for many years thanks to the ongoing support from the public and high adoption rates. Please remember; the adoption of a more highly adoptable dog will mean more time for the less adoptable dog in the kennel next to him! Shelter hours are Monday-Friday: 8 am- 4 pm. Saturday, Sunday and holidays: 8 am - 12 pm. Adoptions are always welcome any day of the week/ weekend and on holidays. We are here everyday to care for the dogs and the best way to make our day is to see our dogs go to loving families. There is nobody in the office on Saturday, Sunday or holidays, so therefore, we are unable to answer or return phone calls over the weekend. We are only staffed to take care of the dogs and do adoptions over the weekends/ on holidays. Can't adopt a dog? We would love to have more volunteers who are able to spend time with our dogs! The dogs LOVE going for walks and the socialization and exercise helps make the dogs more adoptable.
