Coming Soon! Harlo is a 3 year old, 20 lb mini Australian shepherd mix with the heart of a herding dog. He loves his people, running in the yard and playing with his squeaky toys. He will want to be your best friend and likes cuddling on the bed. Harlo is an energetic dog and, like most herding dogs, will need an outlet for his energy and focus. Harlo is crate trained, walks well on a leash and loves affection from his family. He gets along well and plays with the dogs in his foster home but he doesn't like all dogs. Harlo currently struggles with anxiety and socialization issues and is often nervous and reactive around new people and in new places. He will need an experienced dog owner that is willing to invest the time and energy into helping him adjust into a new home and would benefit from training to help him overcome his anxiety and build confidence. Please complete and return to SCP for review! All dogs typically show on Saturdays from 11 AM to 2 PM at the Petco in Clear Lake at 2410 Bay Area Blvd near Space Center. Since all our dogs are in foster homes, an individual dog may not be at our weekly Adoption Event due to conflict with a foster's schedule. If you are interested in meeting a particular dog, please send an email to scpdogworld@gmail.com so that the Dog Coordinator can let you know if the dog will be at the Saturday Adoption Event at Petco. If you just want to meet some great dogs looking for their forever home, please come visit with us on Saturday! The adopter for this dog must reside in the immediate Houston/Galveston area and be at least 25 years old. A home visit may be required prior to this dog going to any home. The adoption fee for a dog is $210 (or $270 for puppies). All dogs are microchipped, on heartworm protection, spayed/neutered, vaccinated, de-wormed and treated for fleas. She is a GORGEOUS Border Collie/Rhodesian Ridgeback mix or Tri-Colored Rhodesian Ridgeback. Her personality is true to her breed! Xena's foster mom and dad have 3 other dogs that she likes to play with and share toys with, but she has also learned to be by herself. Her foster mom says she needs an active family with another dog or multiple dogs. Xena needs room to run to get her energy out. She likes going for long walks and exploring the wilderness. Xena sleeps with her foster mom and dad in bed with all the other dogs. It gets a bit crowded but she does love sleeping with the pack. This makes her feel safe. Xena does not like to be in a kennel or crate. So, a family that is at home would be ideal.She likes eating ice cubes! Xena says 'When mom gives me fresh water in a bowl she puts in extra ice cubes for me. That makes me feel special and loved.' Xena loves riding in a vehicle and knows not to jump around and act like a baby.She can walk on a leash pretty well as long as she has her harness on; Xena is not a fan of collars. She also knows a few commands like “stay”, “no” and “potty”.Xena will bark at strangers until she gets to know them. Her foster dad has taught her to fetch. She loves chasing the ball and bringing it back, it’s the letting it go part that she has a hard time with BECAUSE she also loves to play tug of war. Xena is also a fan of the Laser Light. She thinks they are fascinating!Xena is Special Needs because if and when she gets too excited she has seizures. The vet attributes this to a blow to the head as a puppy.
