Story
AdoptAPet Inquires are not an application and will be ignored. Peanut is a 2 year old Basset Hound who amazes everyone she meets with her surprising athleticism. She can jump impressively high and will happily play for hours on end. She loves every new human and dog she meets and is always ready to make new friends. Her absolute favorite activity is playing bitey face and wrestling with her dog buddies, and she could do it all day if given the chance. She is pretty vocal when excited/playing. She enjoys sitting by the window and supervising the comings and goings of everything and everyone in her sight. Peanut loves going for car rides, walks well on a leash, is crate trained, and is a very smart girl who figures things out quickly, sometimes a little too quickly, as she has been known to try to open things and help herself. She is very food motivated and will try to sample everyone else’s meals, so she’ll need a family willing to continue working on manners. She also has no concept of personal space and believes she should be in her dog friends’ faces trying to play most of the time. Because she’s so playful, Peanut needs to be adopted by an active home with another playful dog. She enjoys tug and wrestling with other dogs, though she’s not big on playing with toys by herself and will need active engagement to stimulate her and get her energy out. She does have a prey drive and will chase squirrels. She is not a fan of cats. Peanut would do great in a home that will keep her active, continue her training, and give her lots of love and attention. Adoption radius 60 miles from zip code 20906. Application here: https://tinyurl.com/TLCdogapp We do not promote any of our dogs as house trained or allergy friendly.

Story
Meet Japan, a 1-year-old, 25â€Â㦊-pound mix of Corgi and Basset. (Note his short legs!) The best way to describe him is to quote his foster’s description. “Very playful, dog friendly, vocal, loves to jump, loves playing with his kennel mate, loves to give kisses and just all around wants all the attention!” Sounds like a great dog to me! Don’t you think? (posted 3/7/26, ME) ' ' Adoption Fee: $395.00-- covers microchip, worming, all vaccines, monthly heart worm preventative, monthly tick/flea preventative, spaying/neutering, health certificate, and complete medical records. Transport Fee: $160.00-- We consider the transport to be of great importance and, as such, take particular care of the dogs during the trip. We make every effort to arrive with healthy and minimally stressed dogs. **It is rare that we know with certainty the ages or mixes that make up our dogs, but we do our best to be as accurate as possible based upon our experience. **May 15, 2026, 3:37 pm

He’s not here for chaos, drama, or cardio… but he is here for cozy naps, quiet companionship, and being your loyal shadow around the house. If you’ve been dreaming of a dog who’s happiest lounging beside you, Jameson is ready to apply for the position of full-time best friend. This sweet guy is crate trained, house trained, and also semi-stimulus collar trained. He’s lived the good life before and is looking for a calm, loving home to enjoy his golden years.     Jameson can get along with other dogs, though he hasn’t been introduced to new dog friends in a while. He’d likely do best with slow, respectful introductions. He’s not the type to demand the dog park lifestyle, but he’d be willing to go if it meant spending time with his person.     Jameson does have a sensitive side — he has a low tolerance for loud noises and fast movements, such as remote-control toys or running children. He also can be wary around unfamiliar men, like handymen or first-time visitors, so he’ll need a patient adopter who understands that trust takes time and love. Jameson would thrive in a quiet adult home (or a home with older, respectful kids) where life is peaceful and predictable.     If you’re someone with a soft spot for seniors and a heart big enough to offer comfort, stability, and love, Jameson will repay you with unconditional love, loyalty, and companionship. Apply today and don't let this one get away! Your new pet will require a refresher in house-training. K-9 Lifesavers strongly recommends all new adopters enroll their new pet into obedience training. This provides for an easier transition into a new home, ensures the dog remains well socialized, and helps form a bond between the dog and the new family.    Adoption fees cover basic vetting, rabies (if puppy is old enough), distemper/parvo vaccinations, deworming, monthly heartworm prevention while in our care (if old enough), monthly flea/tick prevention while in our care, and transport costs. K-9 Lifesavers will also cover the cost of spay/neuter at our partner vet at 6 months of age or reimburse adopter for up to the amount of our partner vet cost should you choose to spay/neuter at your own vet.Foster Program:    Foster homes provide for the temporary care of a rescue until the dog is placed into a loving, forever home.  For more information on becoming a foster parent, and our Foster Program, visit http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/foster/ or email our Foster Coordinator at foster@k-9lifesavers.orgSPONSOR ME! Help Save Lives!    Make a tax-deductible donation today and help save a life.
