Dog's Name: Pup Kirby (KIR0524SOPMD)Estimated Breed: Basset Hound / Catahoula Leopard Dog MixApproximate Age: 5-6 months Approximate Weight: 25 LBS Currently Living at: Boarding Adoption Fee: $500DOG'S DESCRIPTION: Meet Pup Kirby! This beautiful boy with the most gorgeous eyes was found as a stray on a country road in rural Georgia. He was in foster with an elderly woman and her Chihuahuas until he came to us. She described him as well-behaved and very sweet. He also got along great with her dogs. Kirby is extremely gentle and good natured and will make a wonderful companion for some lucky family. At his young age, he is in his prime for training and socialization. Please remember that young pups require a lot of time, love, and patience to become the best doggie citizens they can be. Adopt Kirby because every home deserves a touch of his gentle, sweet, and good-natured spirit! Your new pet will require a refresher in house-training. K-9 Lifesavers strongly recommends all new adopters enroll their new pet into obedience training. This provides for an easier transition into a new home, ensures the dog remains well socialized, and helps form a bond between the dog and the new family. Adoption fees cover basic vetting, spay/neuter surgery (at partner vet if not fixed before adoption), rabies, distemper/parvo vaccinations, treatment for worms, heartworm testing, monthly heartworm prevention and monthly flea/tick prevention (while the animal is in our care), and transport costs from high-kill shelter. Please note that on average, K-9 Lifesavers spend significantly more on each dog than their adoption fee. Adoption fee for HW positive dog also covers heartworm treatment at our partner vets. Foster Program: Foster homes provide for the temporary care of a rescue until the dog is placed into a loving, forever home.
