Story
Please contact Sarah Maraschky (sarahm@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.CAN be fed after midnight! GIZMO NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!!   Come meet Gizmo and other great adoptable dogs this Sunday (April 28th) from 12-3 pm at the Petsmart in Silver Spring (12020 Cherry Hill Rd, Silver Spring, MD 20904)!         Name:  Gizmo        Best Guess for Breed:  Basset hound and terrier mix   Best Guess for Age:  2 years        SEX:  Male   Approximate Weight:   35 lbs   Gets Along With:   Other dogs! Gizmo has experience living with cats in his foster home. We are happy to discuss tips for introducing him to the kitties in your home! Due to his shy personality, he may not go to a home with children under the age of 12.    Currently Living at:  DC area foster home.  Special adoption considerations: Because Gizmo is shy, he needs to go to a home with a confident, welcoming resident dog. Due to his shy personality, we do not recommend him for a home with children under the age of 12.   Gizmo is Looking For:  His forever home! Gizmo is so sweet and - just look at those short and stubby legs - he is incredibly cute! He would love to trot through the world with confidence, enjoying all the adventures his new humans can dream up! To get there, he needs extra patient and loving adopters who understand he has not gotten enough experience in new places yet, and a welcoming resident dog who can show him how to dog. Obedience school will help build his braves as well.  Gizmo most of all wants to know he is safe and loved and under his own roof for all his days. He has so much love and loyal companionship to offer in exchange. Best of all - he CAN be bathed and CAN be fed after midnight. What do you say? Does this sweet shy boy get his fresh start with you? What My Foster Says About Me: Gizmo has so much love to give and he deserves someone to love him back. He’s a great running partner, he’s doing great running on leash. We had 2 runs today and interacted with some pups along the way and he was very gentle to them. He gets attached very easily, he follows me everywhere around the house. I am sure that there’s nothing he can’t overcome with love and patience. Also biiig nap lover, if it wasn’t for his silly running, I would say he’s a lap dog.  Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT:      The adoption fee for this dog is $460, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and spay/neuter. If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online   at   bit.ly/adoptaluckydog  .   Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption. Name:  Lucille         Best Guess for Breed: Basset hound and terrier mix Best Guess for Age:  2 years as of April 2024       SEX:    Female   Approximate Weight: 29 lbs   Gets Along With:   Other dogs! We haven't seen her with kids or cats but she can be tested   Currently Living at:  South Carolina shelter; needs a foster or forever home in the DC area to get her freedom ride up here.    Lucille is Looking For:  Her forever home! This sweetie with the super adorable short, stubby legs landed in the shelter due to no fault of her own. She's looking ahead to the time when she will have her own humans for long sniffy walks (hey, look at those legs. if she's got Basset in her - that hound nose is gonna work overtime!), romps in the park, and all the adventures they can dream up. Including pup cups from Starbucks - she's heard about those and is up for trying them! Quality kibble and a cushy dog bed are on her wish list as well.    But you know what? She's out of the puppy yips and as an experienced dog in her prime, she knows what's most important: Being safe and loved and under her own roof. In exchange, she promises adoring gazes and tail wags and loyal companionship. What do you say? Is that what you're looking for? Story
People, let me tell you about your new beeeeeest friend ... because I'm pretty sure it's ME! My name is Betsy, and I am ready to make myself the fun-loving, kiss-giving, happiest-girl-ever center of your world.Other dogs? Love them! Outdoor smells? Love them! Chew toys? Love them! People? Love them! Things that remind me of chew toys? Love them! I'm still working on that last part -- I'm only 1 year old, so I need a bestie (or two!) who can help me practice my commands and help me remember which toys are mine and which shoes are yours. Don't worry about crate training, though -- I've got that skill mastered. If you need a new BFF who loves to play and who will return your attention with ALL the tail-wags and love she can give (and who totally rocks a bandana on top of it all), then you can stop looking -- I'm here, and I'm ready for you!If you'd like to take me home, please fill out an adoption application at this website - http://www.animalalliesrescue.org/adoption-application - and choose me, Betsy! My adoption fee is $350 and AARF wants me to tell you that their adoption package covers all expenses needed to prepare dogs like me for our forever homes. By the time you meet us, we've already been spayed/neutered (if age appropriate) and microchipped. We've been checked by a veterinarian, and we're up to date on age appropriate immunizations against rabies and DHLPP (distemper, hepatitis, leptospirosis, parainfluenza, and parvovirus). We've been tested for heartworm and other tick borne diseases (4DX), and we've started our heartworm and flea preventive medications. Some of us have had extensive surgeries, dental work, or other necessary procedures. AARF is committed to getting all of us entirely ready for a happy, healthy, love-filled life!
