Weighing just 32 pounds, this sweet pup is full of love, playful energy, and puppy charm. He absolutely adores toys and playtime, and he’ll quickly steal your heart with his big eyes and wiggly tail. Right now, Sentry is scared and sad at the shelter. It’s no place for a baby like him. He is fully vetted and has been well cared for - sadly his owners could not care for him any longer and they made the tough decision to give him up. We will find the perfect fur-ever home for this boy. Scooter is a lovable and charming boy with a playful side. He loves snuggling on the couch with his humans and enjoys a good game of fetch or tug-of-war with his toys. When he's craving attention, he’s not shy about speaking up, guiding you to whatever he desires—whether it’s a toy, treat, or even a walk around the block. During the day, he likes to sit by the front window, observing the cars, dogs, and kids passing by. Scooter is a smart dog who’s learned to use the dog door, but he’s also trained to ring a bell when he needs to go outside. He gets along well with medium to large dogs, though his interactions with cats and smaller dogs are unknown. While he’s making great strides in his training, there are a few behavioral quirks we're working on. If he’s resting near his human and they move or touch him, he will startle and bark, so we gently speak to him before we make a move. Scooter is also not fond of nail trims, ear cleanings, or having his nose touched, and he requires a moderate sedative for these vet visits. Despite these challenges, the vet has seen significant improvement in his behavior. She is back with the foster who pulled her fro Dallas Animal Services in late 2022. The adopter reported instances of aggression and resource guarding, but she has been on her best behavior since arriving back in Dallas. We had her evaluated by a trainer, who reports that she is a dominant personality who needs consistent reinforcement of her place in the hierarchy. The foster reports that she is smart and knows basic commands. She can be pushy, but takes correction well. She is high energy, loves to play with the other dogs in the household and is very affectionate. She is leash trained, crate trained and housebroken, up to date on shots and heart worm negative. She will do well with an experienced owner and the rescue will include a session with the trainer to teach the new owner techniques for avoiding issues. My daughter found this dog on a disc golf course. Her ex said he would help financially but they broke up. She already had 3 dogs. My daughter is in rehab and I’m not physically strong enough to take care of and train this puppy along with the other dogs. He is very friendly and listens well. He’s had his 3 rounds of puppy shots. I think he is about 6 months old. Looks like a beagle but much too tall. He doesn’t bark a lot.
