Cashew is a sweet and loveable boy looking for a foster home to relax in while he is receiving medical treatment. He has a happy-go-lucky attitude and has a good time wherever he goes! Cashew isn’t a big fan of taking his medication, so it may take some experimenting with different treats to hide his pills. Foster Reason: Ear Infection, elevated liver enzymes, heartworm positive Foster Time Frame: 2+ WeeksFoster time frame could be longer depending on future medical results and needs.Foster Care Plan: Cashew is being treated for an ear infection and is being monitored for elevated liver enzymes. He will go to foster with medication and will have an appointment scheduled to repeat his labs on 4/22. He has not yet begun his heartworm treatment. Cashew will have a medical consultation at his pickup appointment, so you are prepared to confidently care for this happy boy! He is fully vetted and has been well cared for - sadly his owners could not care for him any longer and they made the tough decision to give him up. We will find the perfect fur-ever home for this boy. Scooter is a lovable and charming boy with a playful side. He loves snuggling on the couch with his humans and enjoys a good game of fetch or tug-of-war with his toys. When he's craving attention, he’s not shy about speaking up, guiding you to whatever he desires—whether it’s a toy, treat, or even a walk around the block. During the day, he likes to sit by the front window, observing the cars, dogs, and kids passing by. Scooter is a smart dog who’s learned to use the dog door, but he’s also trained to ring a bell when he needs to go outside. He gets along well with medium to large dogs, though his interactions with cats and smaller dogs are unknown. While he’s making great strides in his training, there are a few behavioral quirks we're working on. If he’s resting near his human and they move or touch him, he will startle and bark, so we gently speak to him before we make a move. Scooter is also not fond of nail trims, ear cleanings, or having his nose touched, and he requires a moderate sedative for these vet visits. Despite these challenges, the vet has seen significant improvement in his behavior. She is back with the foster who pulled her fro Dallas Animal Services in late 2022. The adopter reported instances of aggression and resource guarding, but she has been on her best behavior since arriving back in Dallas. We had her evaluated by a trainer, who reports that she is a dominant personality who needs consistent reinforcement of her place in the hierarchy. The foster reports that she is smart and knows basic commands. She can be pushy, but takes correction well. She is high energy, loves to play with the other dogs in the household and is very affectionate. She is leash trained, crate trained and housebroken, up to date on shots and heart worm negative. She will do well with an experienced owner and the rescue will include a session with the trainer to teach the new owner techniques for avoiding issues.
