Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Banjo came to us from an owner who was unfortunately losing his home. We are sorry for the gentleman and his situation, but very glad we are able to provide some much-needed medical care for Banjo. We are so happy to share that he does NOT have heart issues as we initially suspected!  His cough was instead due to a collapsed trachea and is so much better than when he arrived. Banjo has settled in nicely in his foster home! He's a good boy and his foster mom allows him to sleep in bed with her or on the couch. She thinks he is very smart and taught him to shake hands in about 20 minutes! He does rest a lot but he also really enjoys his walks, typical beagle with nose to the ground smelling everything! Banjo can be a bit excited when first meeting another dog, but we think he would do best in a home with a dog or a cat as a buddy and he prefers not to be left alone for very long. As far as his medical care, of course being a senior he will have some issues down the road. For the time being. Being his blood work looks good but we will be bringing him back for some booster vaccinations and recheck at the end of December. Banjo could go on sleepover anytime!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.December 12, 2025, 2:58 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Darla has spent the last seven months in a loving foster home in Mississippi where she's come such a long way. When she first arrived she was shy and unsure, but with time, patience, and gentle reassurance, Darla has truly blossomed and her sweet personality now shines through. She still may take a little time to warm up and has shown preference for women over men at first, but once you've earned her trust she'll be your best bud. She now adores her foster dad and even gives him little hand licks to express her love! Darla is great with kids and loves other dogs. In fact, having canine friends around seems to help her feel more confident so a home with another dog would be welcomed. Darla  needs to be in a home with a fenced-in yard where she can safely explore and sniff to her heart's content. Darla is heartworm negative, spayed, and ready for her sleepover. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.December 26, 2025, 8:38 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.ADOPTION PENDINGThe first thing you’ll notice about Walker is his sweet face and how he loves to head butt you and have his ears scratched. The next thing you’ll notice is how he rolls over and wants his tummy rubbed.  Only after that will you realize that he’s missing a leg.  Walker gets around just fine as a tripod.  He can do steps, go in and out the doggie door in his foster home, and even jump up on the couch. It doesn’t slow him down one bit. He is fully house trained, gets along great with other dogs and people, and rarely barks. He only gets into a little mischief around the house and once grabbed a book off the coffee table and brought it down to his doggie bed to snuggle with it.  I mean who doesn’t like to settle in with a good book from time to time? Walker has been sleeping in a doggie bed right next to his foster mom at night and sleeps through the night and on into the morning sometimes too. He loves romping around the backyard in his foster home, and he loves walks as well, but could use a little more leash training. He was picked up as a stray in Mississippi, so no one really knows what’s happened to him, but thanks to SEBR, we got this precious little boy fixed up and he’s got a new lease on life. He's just been neutered and had the unrepairable leg amputated and will be treated for heartworms the first week of December.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.December 27, 2025, 5:19 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Scarlett is seriously spunky for her age. She was a stray who had to fend for herself, so she is clever and independent. She is resourceful when it comes to food and has been known to counter surf - a skill very common with beagles. She gets along really well with both dogs and people, and she loves to sit on the couch with her foster mom or dad in the evening. When she first arrived it was clear that she was not house trained, but she is learning and getting very close. She tries to go outside, but if she can’t get there, she will use the mat by the door. She also walks well on a leash. She loves toys but is one of those dogs whose goal is to remove the stuffing. However, the toy does not lose its allure unstuffed! Oh no, she is still quite happy to continue playing with it. Scarlett seems much younger than she is because she is so lively and friendly. She tested positive for heartworms but has done her treatment. She will be arriving in Florida mid-October and will be ready to go on sleepover. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.October 2, 2025, 10:43 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Poncho's little heart longs for a family. He was so unhappy at the shelter and when he first arrived at his foster home he seemed insecure. He followed his foster mom and dad everywhere around the house. But after a few days, he realized he was safe and he relaxed. He can now sleep contentedly on the couch with them in another room, once he's checked to see what they are doing. Poncho has learned to sit for his treats, and he loves to gives kisses. He's good in a crate when left at home and doesn’t complain. Although he has not been destructive in the house, he does like to remove the stuffing out of stuffed toys. He also really likes a cuddle when it rains and there is thunder. He is talkative, barking at strange noises or to let you know he wants something, but his barking is not excessive. He also barks at new people who come in the house but settles down pretty soon. He walks fairly well on leash and his house training, although not perfect, is coming along. Pancho is heartworm positive and will be ready for his heartworm treatment injections mid-December. He is currently with one of our wonderful Fosters in Louisiana but will come to Florida as soon as we either have a foster or a potential adopter for him.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.December 4, 2025, 2:21 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Cheesecake has been with the rescue since September 2024. She came to us from Louisiana where she had been living in the woods near a small town. She was known to the residents who would often leave her food, but they were aware that she kept having puppies and unfortunately the puppies would very often get killed by other animals or run over by cars. She was hard to catch but after many unsuccessful attempts they finally captured her and one of her puppies (Pop-Tart). When Cheesecake arrived in Florida she was a very frightened dog. Her rehabilitation began with her first foster family where she learned she could live comfortably and even discovered a loving relationship with the man...and then began to trust his wife too. In November 2025, a little over a year later, we decided to move her to another foster to help her broaden her acceptance of people and being loved. She of course regressed a bit, but is re-adapting much more quickly than she did at first - just what we had hoped for! Cheesecake is still very timid and fearful of new things, new people and new places, but she is VERY gentle and sweet. She can be really affectionate and loves belly rubs and petting. Her energy level is quite low and she spends most of the time in her 'safe place', the bed (also in her first foster home). It took a while in both homes for her to learn she could go out on her own safely and come back in safely, but she is basically house broken and will hold it rather than pee in the house. So a few times a day she will take a brief stroll and sniff around in her fenced yard. At first, Cheesecake didn't interact with other dogs much, yet she has been quite accepting of them being near. Eventually she became somewhat companionable with them, but it took time. However, she does not yet understand play. It is important to know that Cheesecake is still a flight risk. If frightened she could easily get out of a harness or possibly even slip a Martingale collar, and if she got loose in an unfamiliar place she would be very difficult to catch. Cheesecake needs a securely fenced yard and someone who can be very attentive to her security. For so long this lovely girl was barely staying alive and so all she thinks about is safety and survival. We believe Cheesecake is on the road to learning to enjoy life, and our hope if she can find a family who will continue that beautiful journey with her. Cheesecake has been successfully treated for heartworm and has completed all of her vetting.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.December 26, 2025, 12:48 pm
