When she first arrived she was shy and unsure, but with time, patience, and gentle reassurance, Darla has truly blossomed and her sweet personality now shines through. She still may take a little time to warm up and has shown preference for women over men at first, but once you've earned her trust she'll be your best bud. She now adores her foster dad and even gives him little hand licks to express her love! Darla is great with kids and loves other dogs. In fact, having canine friends around seems to help her feel more confident so a home with another dog would be welcomed. Darla  needs to be in a home with a fenced-in yard where she can safely explore and sniff to her heart's content. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Matty's personality is all beagle! He's a friendly boy who was dropped off at a Louisiana shelter as a stray and he is so happy to be in his foster home! Matty wants to hang out with his humans and be a part of whatever is going on. He loves to cuddle and will do anything for food, including stealing it when you aren’t looking. Housetraining is still a work in progress, but improving. He does well in a crate. Once his foster parents started feeding him in his crate and giving him treats there, he was eager to jump right in. He is mostly quiet, even in the crate. He doesn’t bark unless he's helping the other dogs defend the yard, but even then he is not the instigator. And Matty is good with other dogs, even if they bark and growl at him. He isn’t intimidated, he just keeps going. He loves stuffed toys but occasionally he will get hold of something that isn’t a toy. He is still learning that part of being in a house. If you want a true beagle, he is exactly what you're looking for. Matty is heartworm positive but scheduled for treatment in Louisiana mid-March. He is healthy and asymptomatic so we expect him to do well. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Banjo is a very affectionate boy and a really great cuddler! His foster mom often allows him to sleep in bed with her, but he likes the couch too. He's a fairly mellow fellow and does rest a lot. His foster mom thinks he’s aging backwards and he’s getting more brown in his face.  We are so happy to share that he does NOT have heart issues as we initially suspected! His heart is good and strong but he does have early stage kidney disease and is on a special diet. Banjo Is also currently dealing with some incontinence but is a good sport about wearing his diaper. He really enjoys his walks, typical beagle with nose to the ground smelling everything! Banjo can be excited when first meeting another dog and can also be selective about who he likes. We think he would do best as an only dog but he would probably love a cat as a buddy. He also prefers not to be left alone for very long.  Banjo is looking for someone with a heart for seniors. He came to us from a family who encountered some really hard times and became homeless, and they needed him to be safe and cared for. He has just arrived in his foster home and is starting to settle in. We have him scheduled for his neuter surgery and vaccinations and he should be ready to go to his new home on the weekend of March 20th. Peter is already doing well with housetraining and leashwalking. If you are interested in adopting Peter, please submit an adoption survey on our website. Once you have been approved, we will require a $100 deposit towards the adoption fee with the balance due at the time we deliver Peter to you. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Brucie is a smart boy, very intelligent. He loves his food, and also some chicken and CHEESE, thats his favorite. He's great with other dogs but very shy with humans. In his foster home, he observes the other dogs getting affection, and then he comes up slowly asking for love too. Hes not really a cuddler yet, only sometimes, but that could change over time. When Brucie gets his bursts of energy he will play with toys and run around with the other dogs and play fight with them - and he loves the dog park! Brucie listens to commands and is good when walking on a leash, but likes to walk behind the other dogs. He loves to sleep on his bed and the couch, and only gets on foster mom's bed if he sees the other dogs do it. Brucie needs to continue to gain confidence and clearly other dogs definitely need to be part of his learning process. He tested positive for heartworms but has been through his treatment. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Ollie identifies as a tiny lap dog and is definitely not shy about joining you in your personal space. He's happy to jump right up in your lap or lie on top you to take a nap, although he will often stretch out to take up as much space as possible. He's a moderate energy dog who loves toys and playing with other dogs his size. He's not as comfortable with dogs taller than him and will act big and tough to cover his nervousness, but with dogs his size and smaller he is completely calm and curious. When meeting new people Ollie can also initially be a little timid, but he loves children. Although he will chase squirrels and rabbits, Ollie does fine with cats. He has mastered house training and is comfortable sleeping in his crate at night with the door open, or on the couch or in a dog bed. Ollie is okay being left alone and doesn’t get anxious. If his current family is going to be gone for an extended period of time, they do crate him with the door closed. Outside Ollie is typical beagle -- exploring wherever his little nose takes him! He is pretty good at walking on a leash after he gets over his initial excitement. You just have to stop, ask him to sit, then begin walking again. It may take several times of doing this before he understands that he is being walked, not pulling you down the road. Most important for Ollie would be an affectionate family, a fenced yard, and a bonus would be someone home most of the time.
