It’s been an extremely hard decision to make, truly. He looks like a grumpy old man, but he’s extremely sweet and wants to follow me around and know where I’m at, at all times. He was originally owned by a woman who passed from medical issues and I adopted him and now I too have medical issues. It’s absolutely heartbreaking, because he deserves to get the attention he needs. He’s has a few accidents at home due to his age.

Story
If you’re looking for a quiet, low-key puppy… just keep swimming 🐠 But if you’re looking for personality, playfulness, and a whole lot of love? You’re in the right place. Dory is a 3-month-old Beagle/Staffordshire Terrier mix who brings big energy in a small package – for now, as she’ll be about 46-79 lbs. full-grown! Dory is spunky, smart, and a bit dramatic (think: expressive, hilarious, and not afraid to share her opinions). She’ll confidently mix it up with dogs bigger than her, then turn around and melt into your lap like the sweet cuddle bug she is. Here’s what makes Dory so easy to love: 🐾 Nearly house-trained and great with potty pads when needed 🐾 Knows “sit” and “down” (and working on “drop it”) 🐾 Loves toys – squeaky, stuffy, rope… You name it 🐾 Enjoys playing with other dogs and keeping up with the big kids 🐾 Curious and loves things like snuffle mats and scent games She’s still a puppy, so she’s learning as she goes. Dory is improving on leash every day, still figuring out crate time (she prefers being near her people), and can get a little impatient during playtime. But she’s bright, eager, and will absolutely thrive with consistency and structure. A few things to know about life with Dory: 💙 She loves the outdoors and would do best with space to explore 💙 Her ideal family is ready for puppy energy + training 💙 A playful dog friend or an active home would be a big plus Dory may not have the world totally figured out yet (and she cannot speak Whale)… but she does know how to love, how to play, and how to make every day more fun. Dory’s adoption fee is $275 and includes her spay, microchip, age-appropriate vaccines, and flea/tick/heartworm preventatives. Apply to meet Dory at PawsitiveTailsKC.org. Meet-and-greets will be scheduled with approved adopters. 🖤🤎❤️🧡💛💚💙💜🤍💜💙💚💛🧡❤️🤎🖤 APPLY @ PawsitiveTailsKC.org 🖤🤎❤️🧡💛💚💙💜🤍💜💙💚💛🧡❤️🤎🖤

Story
Meet Chief 🐾 Chief is a 1-year-old, 20 lb Beagle mix who has absolutely blossomed in foster care. After coming from a hoarding situation in rural Missouri, he’s been learning what life in a home is all about — and he’s proving every day just how sweet, social, and eager he is to be part of a family. Personality 💛 Chief is a gentle, sensitive boy with the softest soul and the cutest floppy ears (seriously… they have a mind of their own). He may take a minute to process new situations, but he wants to connect — and once he feels safe, he melts right into you. Being held and close to his people is his happy place, and he’s becoming more affectionate and confident every day. Social + Playful 🐶 Chief loves other dogs and truly thrives with a canine companion. He’s playful, respectful, and takes a lot of comfort in following another dog’s lead. Having a buddy helps him feel more secure and brings out his fun, puppy side. He also enjoys chew toys and bully sticks to keep himself happily occupied. Learning + Routine 📚 Chief is a smart, eager learner who is making great progress with his routine. He’s working on leash skills and building confidence with new sounds and environments. Because he’s still learning, he’ll need a home committed to consistency and patience as he continues to grow. A fenced yard will help him feel safe while he gains confidence outside. Ideal Home 🏡 Chief would do best in a home where he can continue building confidence at his own pace. He’d love a friendly dog companion and people who will give him reassurance, structure, and time to settle in. Older, respectful kids would be a great match for Chief. Chief has overcome so much and is truly thriving. He is incredibly sweet and someone will be so lucky to have this guy forever ❤️. ----------------------------------------- If you’re interested in adopting, please apply online at mscrescue.org/adopt. Pet Location: Wayside Waifs Campus My Friends at Wayside say: - I’m a little shy—slow and steady wins the race with me.- I`m a typical hound who loves sniffy walks.- I have displayed some touch sensitivities. Ask our staff for more info! My home needs are: - Wayside recommends bringing your children 9 years old and younger out to meet me before adoption since I can be nervous around new people and loud noises.

Pet Location: Wayside Waifs CampusMy Friends at Wayside say: - I am enrolled in Waifs with Wisdom. This is a program for dogs to learn basic commands and leash walking skills. My adoption comes with a free 30-minute private training session.-New people and things make me a little nervous. Let’s take things slow! - Balls, squeaky toys, rope toys, I love them all! - An adopter with training experience would help me thrive!-I’m smart and food/treat motivated, and I already know sit! My home needs are: -I need a home with kids 6 years old and older since I tend to be nervous around new people and loud noises. -Wayside requires bringing the whole family out to meet me before adoption - new people can make me a little nervous.- Wayside recommends you bring your dog to meet me before adoption to ensure we can be buddies.Hi, I`m Ava,I ended up at the shelter when my family couldn`t care for me any longer. I have been struggling to settle in. I am 4 but have a lot of energy, so don`t let my age fool you. I am a perfect size at 29 pounds for those that don`t want a large dog.I know sit but don`t seem to know any other commands. I like to zig zag when walking so could use some help with walking on a leash. I am a beagle after all. I like to use my nose. I would make a great jogging partner once I settle down.I enjoy interacting with other dogs at the shelter. Once I feel comfortable, I really like to play. I have a kind of rough and tumble play style. I like to chase other dogs, then do some wrestling with them. I love to run with them.I am looking for an owner that can help me get some energy out. Walking/hiking buddy? Jogging? I`m up for whatever you throw at me. Come say hi. I would love to meet you.Love, Ava

Story
Lacey is a super sweet and loving dog, but needs time to feel comfortable. Sadly she was rescued from a hoarding situation, so can be shy at first. Once she gets to know you, she is a total snuggle bug. She has a gaining more confidence every day, and is doing great using potty pads, and learning our dog door. Because she is still learning how to be a dog, she would be best in a home without very small children. She does great with dogs and cats. 100% of our animals are in foster homes, this gives us the ability to get to know our pets really well, which helps us match our adopters with their perfect companion! If you are interested in learning more about this pet, please fill out our quick adoption survey. Once received, the foster parent will be in touch to answer any questions, and discuss next steps. https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/MARQ/Dog All dogs and cats are spayed/neutered prior to adoption, microchipped, and are current on age appropriate vaccines and preventions, and are available to meet by appointment.
