Story
A Soulful Heart and Floppy Ears: Meet Chief Chief is a gentle 20 lb Beagle mix who came to us from a hoarding situation in rural Missouri. At 1 year old, he is still learning what it means to live in a home, but his sweet nature shines through every day. He has a quiet, soulful presence and is looking for a patient family to help him continue his journey. Personality and Connection Chief is a sensitive boy who truly wants to be near his people. While he is still learning how to snuggle and initiate affection, he relaxes once you hold him. It’s his silent way of showing he finally feels safe and just wants to be loved. One of his most adorable features is his ears; they are constantly floppy or flipping upside down, perfectly matching his endearing personality. He is a work in progress who just needs a little more time to fully come out of his shell. Training and Progress He is an incredibly smart learner who is making great strides in his daily routine. He is learning to walk on a leash, though loud noises can still be startling. A fenced-in backyard is a must for him so he has a secure place to play and go potty while he builds his confidence. Because of his history, Chief is still mastering potty training and can have occasional accidents indoors. He may whimper a bit at night as he adjusts to his new space, but because he is so bright, these moments don't last long once he realizes he is safe. He needs a family that will offer gentle guidance and consistency as he settles in. Social Life and Play When he isn’t observing his surroundings, Chief is a fan of chew toys and bully sticks, which are a great way to keep him happily occupied and calm. He is very social and loves the company of other dogs. He has a playful, puppy-like energy but is naturally respectful and submissive around others. He finds a lot of confidence by following the lead of other dogs, so a home with a calm, friendly canine companion would be the best fit for him. The Ideal Match Chief would do best in a quiet, low-traffic household with a predictable routine. Because he is still finding his footing, a home with small children would likely be too overwhelming for him; he would prefer an adult-only home or one with older, calm teenagers. He would be a perfect match for someone who works from home or a retired couple who can be present to give him the reassurance and frequent potty breaks he needs. With a little time and a lot of love, Chief will be a deeply devoted companion. He just needs someone patient to give him that chance. ----------------------------------------- If you’re interested in adopting, please apply online at mscrescue.org/adopt. Story
Truman is a 5.5-year-old Beagle/ Border Collie mix who is loyal, smart, and deeply loving. Since joining our family in Christmas 2021, he has been a steady companion who thrives on connection. He loves walks, car rides, and especially the water. Give him a lake and a stick, and he will happily swim and play fetch. He knows several tricks and absolutely loves kids and other animals. Truman was recently diagnosed with diabetes and needs a consistent routine and attentive care to stay healthy. With our busy work and teenage schedules, we can no longer provide the consistency he deserves. We love him deeply and want to find him a home where he can truly thrive. He will come with his belongings, including two beds, bowls, toys, and the remaining food and medication. If you are looking for a loyal and loving companion, Truman is ready to meet you.

Story
Lacey is a super sweet and loving dog, but needs time to feel comfortable. Sadly she was rescued from a hoarding situation, so can be shy at first. Once she gets to know you, she is a total snuggle bug. She has a gaining more confidence every day, and is doing great using potty pads, and learning our dog door. Because she is still learning how to be a dog, she would be best in a home without very small children. She does great with dogs and cats. 100% of our animals are in foster homes, this gives us the ability to get to know our pets really well, which helps us match our adopters with their perfect companion! If you are interested in learning more about this pet, please fill out our quick adoption survey. Once received, the foster parent will be in touch to answer any questions, and discuss next steps. https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/MARQ/Dog All dogs and cats are spayed/neutered prior to adoption, microchipped, and are current on age appropriate vaccines and preventions, and are available to meet by appointment.

Story
We’re looking for the right long-term home for our 1-year-old spayed female beagle/pit mix. She’s a really happy, friendly, and enthusiastic dog who brings a lot of energy and personality with her. She loves being around her people and will quickly become your shadow once she bonds. She’s affectionate, eager to please, and trains easily. Fully vaccinated, house trained, crate-comfortable, and very athletic - she loves space to run.She does have some territorial tendencies and bonds closely with "her" people. Because of that, she may do best as the only dog. She enjoys playing with other dogs, but cohabitating hasn’t worked out in our home as the other pets have not been receptive as we'd hoped. And job our situation has changed, and we can’t give her the time and exercise she deserves. We really do love her and want to find a home where she can fully thrive and live her best life. With the right match and energy, she’s going to be an incredibly loyal, fun, and loving companion.
