She came to us very pregnant and uncertain, and an X-ray showed she was carrying four puppies. From the moment they arrived, Macy showed the world what kind of dog she is — an exceptional mama. She dotes on her babies, plays with them, watches over them carefully, and makes sure they are always safe and loved. Macy has an intensity to her affection that is impossible to miss. She will look at you with big, open, soulful eyes — the kind that seem to ask for love while offering all of hers in return. There’s a tenderness about her that tells us she likely didn’t have an easy life, and being abandoned while pregnant only reinforces that. And yet… she still trusts. She still loves. She still opens her heart to people. That kind of resilience speaks volumes about Macy’s beautiful spirit. She is sweet, gentle, affectionate, and deeply loyal. Questions can be emailed to rescue@mbrohio.com Scooter is a 3-year-old Beagle/Shepherd mix weighing 47 pounds who is looking for his forever family. This sweet boy came to the rescue very underweight, and thanks to lots of care and good meals, he’s slowly gaining weight and starting to come out of his shell. Scooter already knows how to sit and is eager to keep learning, especially if toys or treats are involved! He walks nicely on a leash and is working on his potty-training. He loves playing with toys, happily chewing on bones, and then winding down for some quality cuddle time. One of his favorite things is simply being part of the family—he wants to be included in whatever you’re doing, whether that’s playtime or a cozy night on the couch. Scooter gets along well with other dogs but has not met children yet. He is currently very curious about the cats in his foster home and is learning how to co-exist with them peacefully. Affectionate, loyal, and full of love, Scooter is a snuggler at heart who’s ready to find a forever home where he can continue to grow, feel safe, and be cherished. If you’re looking for a devoted companion who will fill your home with love, Scooter might just be your perfect match. Meet Cora! This 5 year old beagle girl has the most beautiful eyes and soul! Cora weighs about 38 lbs. Cora is dog friendly and loves to play with her canine friends. She also previously lived with a cat (Cora was surrendered to us when her previous owner had some personal medical issues). Cora enjoys playing in her foster mom's backyard. She is good with her foster mom's grandchildren but seems to prefer canine companionship over human companionship right now. She comes to humans for pets and scratches, but isn't a cuddler. Cora is crate trained and stays in her crate when her foster mom is away. She wasn't potty trained at first, but with structure Cora caught on fast and hasn't had an accident in a while. Smart girl! Meet Maui! Maui is a 3-month-old beagle mix with big puppy energy and even bigger curiosity. He’s a happy, fun-loving guy who adores people, loves playing with other dogs, and treats the yard, and the house, like one giant discovery zone. Shoes have recently been promoted to “very interesting chew objects,” but don’t worry… we’re working on redirecting him to toys (which he also loves once reminded they exist). Maui is crate trained and making progress with housebreaking. He’s a quick study, learning by watching the other dogs in his foster home. He’ll politely sit for treats and meals; he just hasn’t connected that behavior to the actual word “sit” yet. Baby steps. He also understands that outside = potty… he’s just still negotiating the “not inside” part of that agreement. Maui will howl like a hound and also "talks" to you from time to time. Maui came to us from a rural county shelter in Ohio, and while we don’t know much about his early life, his strong interest in food suggests he may not have always had consistent access to it. Because of that, we’ve been working with him on positive food interactions and building good habits around eating. He’s doing really well and continues to improve, but he’ll need a patient, committed family who can keep up his training and help him grow into the confident, well-mannered dog he’s clearly meant to be. If you’re looking for a playful, smart, slightly mischievous puppy who will keep you laughing (and maybe hide your shoes just in case), Maui might be your perfect match. We don't know Maui's full breed mix, but we are estimating his full-grown size will be on the larger end of a "medium" dog.
