Story
Howdy from our handsome little swamp frog, Leroy! Give this guy a mud puddle to flop down in and he’s living his best life.Leroy is an older boy with a stubborn streak and plenty of personality to match. He’ll need a family that can set clear boundaries, especially when it comes to sneaking human food or handling his collar, which makes him uncomfortable. Because of this, we’re looking for a home with older teens or adults only.Despite his quirks, Leroy has a big fan club among our volunteers. He’s the kind of dog who forms strong bonds with his people and just needs someone patient, confident, and just as headstrong as he is to help him work through his food aggression and collar sensitivity. The good news? Leroy is open to meeting other dogs and even passed his cat test here at the pound! If you think you might be the right match for this muddy, bullheaded sweetheart, please stop by and spend some time with him. We’re more than happy to let you visit with Leroy as many times as it takes.

Story
Meet Bruce! Bruce is a classic beagle mix with a big voice and an even bigger heart. He's a chatty little guy who isn't shy about letting you know when he wants company- and honestly, he just wants to be close to his people as much as possible. After being abandoned in his previous home, Bruce has developed some separation anxiety, so he's hoping to find a dedicated companion who can give him the love and reassurance he deserves. Bruce is incredibly affectionate and full of personality. On walks, he may pause just to give you a hug as if to say, "thank you for being here". He's not a fan of cats due to his strong prey drive and we're still learning how he feels about other dogs- though he does appear to be a bit jealous when he sees them heading out for adventures without him! This determined little guy has even been spotted climbing over shorter fences in search for snuggles, proving just how committed he is to finding his person. Despite being treated for a skin infection from the condition he was found in, Bruce remains cheerful and loving. He keeps his kennel very tidy and treats his blankets with care like the good boy he is. Bruce can be a bit particular about his food but have some cheese and you'll have his attention. If you are looking for a loyal and affectionate companion who will keep you smiling Bruce is ready to meet you! Bruce also says no cats in his home please. If you are interested in adopting or fostering Bruce, please feel free to apply online!

Story
Hi everyone! My name is Dash! I’m a petite little guy that looks like a beagle mix, maybe? Take a guess! Although I’m just over a year old, I’m a very chill dude. I came to a shelter in southern Ohio in September when my family’s house burned down and they had to move. I had spent so many months there before coming to a foster home! Each day I learn more and more about how wonderful the world is and that it’s not so scary! I’m a little shy at first but just sit with me for a few minutes and I’ll be snuggled up to your side in no time! I’m good with kids, other dogs, and cats! I’m learning about toys and absolutely love laying on the couch and watching tv with you! I do pretty well on a leash and know to go potty outside! I’m really cute and curl my paws under me like a cat when I rest! Every PAWS dog is loved, vetted, and ready for a fresh start May 21, 2026, 5:58 pm

Story
Looking for a quiet, loyal friend to share your days with? Meet Stanley, an 8-year-old gentleman who’s ready to be someone’s faithful sidekick for the best years ahead. Stanley is the perfect companion for a calm, easygoing lifestyle. He adores routine, enjoys the simple things in life, and has a special soft spot for older adults — especially retired folks who appreciate good company and a steady pace. He’s happiest spending time right by your side: soaking up the sunshine on the porch, snoozing through a cozy afternoon, or curling up with you and a crocheted blanket during a quiet evening at home. Stanley takes his routines seriously and will politely remind you when it’s past bedtime — because even a distinguished gentleman knows the value of a good night’s rest. Stanley is great with other dogs and children, though he prefers a cat-free household. He’s gentle, affectionate, and loves to be included in whatever you’re doing — whether it’s gardening, watching TV, or enjoying your morning coffee.  If it were up to him, he would never leave your side!  So a family that is home a lot or can take Stanley with them to most outings would be the best fit for him.  Recently diagnosed with a mild heart murmur, Stanley is still in good spirits and has many happy, loving years ahead. His needs are simple: a calm home, a soft blanket, and someone who enjoys life’s slower moments as much as he does. If you’re looking for a steady, loving companion to share your golden years, Stanley would love to meet you. He’ll remind you when it’s bedtime, keep you company through every season, and fill your home with warmth and quiet joy. Stanley is being surrendered his current owner and a community member.  He is not being fostered by a volunteer with the Powell Animal Welfare Society.  PAWS is not responsible for the accuracy or validity of this post.May 21, 2026, 5:58 pm
