Story
Everyone say hi to Charlie! Charlie is a sweet 5 year old who had a rough start to life. Because of this, she is weary of strangers but once she knows its safe she turns into a SWEETHEART. Charlie is cuddly, loving, potty trained, decent on a leash, friendly with dogs, ok with cats, good in the car and a pretty chill girl. Shes on the smaller side, around 40 lbs. Also due to her rough start in life, Charlie is heartworm positive (will receive treatment) and is being treated for Lyme disease. The rescue pays for her treatments. The rescue can also arrange for transport to our partner veterinarian for treatments if needed. Heartworms and Lyme disease in dogs are not contagious from dog to dog or to humans. Anyone would be lucky to add this cutie pie to their pack Apply to meet this gem at www.ricopetrecovery org. The adoption fee for Charlie is $250.

Story
Tragedy has struck one of our adopter families, leaving this deeply bonded mother-daughter pair urgently in need of a new home.In January 2022, sweet Daisy came to us and delivered a litter of puppies in our care. She and one of her babies, Izzy, were adopted togetherand theyve been inseparable ever since. Izzy has always been a mamas girl. This week, their world was turned upside down. The woman who gave them a loving home was tragically killed in a car accident. Her family cant keep the dogs and has asked us to take them back. Now Daisy and Izzy need someone to give them a second chancetogether, if at all possible. Izzy is the perfect girl: Great with kids Good with cats and dogs Loving and easygoing Daisy (the mama) is more sensitive:Shes fearful of strangers and takes time to warm up.She is not aggressive, but has occasionally nipped when scared. She needs a calm, patient home that will let her adjust at her own pace.We know its a hard time for dogs needing homes. But we also know theres someone out there who can offer these girls the stability and love theyve lost. Please consider opening your heart and your home to Izzy and Daisywhether through adoption or foster care. You can apply at ricopetrecovery.org.

Story
This beautiful red girl is Annie. Annie is about 6 months old. She is believed to be a beagle and hound mix. Annie currently weights 22lbs at 6 months and will likely be a medium-sized girl. Annie and her sister Lucy came to Rico care after they were diagnosed with Parvo and their owners surrendered them. Annie is very sweet and loving. She sleeps in her crate quietly at night. Annie is doing great with potty training outside if she is kept on a schedule. She is not quite dry overnight yet, but she is making progress. Annie is great with children and other dogs and she loves people, laps, treats, and toys. Annie is often found sitting on the lap of the first person who claims a spot on the couch. This gorgeous girl would love a family with a yard or an active family that loves outdoors adventures and walks! She is a beagle mix after all and her nose demands good sniffs!!If you love beagles and hounds, apply to meet Annie at ricopetrecovery.org. The adoption fee for Annie is $350. The fee includes vaccines and the spay surgery and a microchip at our partner veterinarian.

Story
Saturday, February 8th, we got a call from a man desperate and overwhelmed. He had been hospitalized and, while he was away, allowed an acquaintance who was facing homelessness to stay in his apartment. When he returned home, he was met with an abandoned dog and two cats - left behind with not a single drop of food or water. She told him she wasnt coming backand that she didnt want the pets.To make matters worse, he doesnt own a car, and his landlord told him the animals had to be gone by Monday. He was left with two impossible choices: lose his apartment or open the door and turn them out.Huge thanks to Colony Cats & Dogs for stepping up immediately and agreeing to take in the 2 wonderful catsone of whom is suffering from severe flea dermatitis. After dropping off the cats, we went straight to the vetvaccines updated, flea/tick prevention started, and a much-needed nail trim. Then I did what we always do I begged our foster group. And they said yes. Welcome Bain to Rico Pet Recovery! Bain loves affection, is doing wonderfully with other dogs and cats, and his tail hasnt stopped wagging. He refuses to let his new foster dad sit on the couch alone, hasnt barked once, and did great when left by himself.Bain will be neutered soon and is already proving himself to be an incredible family dog. We believe he was loved, but as weve said beforeDesperate people to desperate things.Hell be neutered soon so you can apply to meet Bain at ricopetrecovery.org Adoption fee is $250He is 2 yrs old and 48 pounds. Beagle mix.

Story
Meet Buster Buster and his siblings arrived in the world via emergency C-section when their mom became too sick to deliver naturally. Sadly, their mama couldnt nurse, so these tiny fighters were lovingly bottle-fed around the clock by devoted fosters. Thanks to all that care, Buster is now growing into a confident, curious, and resilient puppy whos ready to find his forever home. He is learning to be independent but loves to cuddle with his foster. He is estimated to only be 30-35 lbs full grown, based on his momma's perfect size. Hes a true survivor with an adventurous soul, and his cute face and puppy dog eyes will win your heartIf youre looking for a special pup with an incredible story and so much love to give, Buster might be the one for you. The adoption fee for Buster is $350. The fee includes the first two sets of puppy shots at our partner veterinarian. The adopter is responsible for the 3rd and 4th sets of shots and all subsequent veterinary care at their own veterinarian. The adoption fee also includes the neuter surgery and a microchip when Buster is old enough to be neutered at our partner veterinarian. Apply to meet Buster at ricopetrecovery.org.
