Story
Looking for a quiet, loyal friend to share your days with? Meet Stanley, an 8-year-old gentleman who’s ready to be someone’s faithful sidekick for the best years ahead. Stanley is the perfect companion for a calm, easygoing lifestyle. He adores routine, enjoys the simple things in life, and has a special soft spot for older adults — especially retired folks who appreciate good company and a steady pace. He’s happiest spending time right by your side: soaking up the sunshine on the porch, snoozing through a cozy afternoon, or curling up with you and a crocheted blanket during a quiet evening at home. Stanley takes his routines seriously and will politely remind you when it’s past bedtime — because even a distinguished gentleman knows the value of a good night’s rest. Stanley is great with other dogs and children, though he prefers a cat-free household. He’s gentle, affectionate, and loves to be included in whatever you’re doing — whether it’s gardening, watching TV, or enjoying your morning coffee.  If it were up to him, he would never leave your side!  So a family that is home a lot or can take Stanley with them to most outings would be the best fit for him.  Recently diagnosed with a mild heart murmur, Stanley is still in good spirits and has many happy, loving years ahead. His needs are simple: a calm home, a soft blanket, and someone who enjoys life’s slower moments as much as he does. If you’re looking for a steady, loving companion to share your golden years, Stanley would love to meet you. He’ll remind you when it’s bedtime, keep you company through every season, and fill your home with warmth and quiet joy. Stanley is being surrendered his current owner and a community member.  He is not being fostered by a volunteer with the Powell Animal Welfare Society.  PAWS is not responsible for the accuracy or validity of this post.July 1, 2026, 4:12 pm

NOW HIRING: Permanent Family for  Artie Posted by: Artie | Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent | Compensation: Unconditional Love + Snuggles   ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION I am a one-dog operation with a proven track record of enthusiasm, loyalty, and lap-warming. Founded approximately one year ago under difficult circumstances (a country road, no severance, no notice), I have since rebuilt from the ground up and am ready to scale. I am looking for the right family to grow with me — long-term applicants only. POSITION SUMMARY I am seeking a warm, loving, and reliably present family to fill the role of Artie's People. This is not a remote position. The ideal candidates will work well under conditions of moderate excitement, appreciate a good snuggle, and understand that when a squirrel disappears behind a bush, the situation requires patience.  Every PAWS dog is loved, vetted, and ready for a fresh start July 1, 2026, 4:12 pm

Story
Ursula is a 3-year-old Puggle (Pug/Beagle mix) who weighs 25lbs. She is energetic and playful so she will thrive in an active home where she can burn off her energy before settling in for the night. She likes to jump so a standard size fence is a must.   Ursula is smart. She has already mastered sit, paw, down, and she’ll even wait for her dinner. Because she’s a clever girl with a typical Beagle stubborn streak, she would love a family that continues her training. It’s a great way to bond with her!   Ursula is a lap dog and she likes to cuddle in her humans bed. She is not a fan of the crate. She needs a home where someone is around most of the time.   She can be a little shy at first with new people but treats will win her over.   If you have a secure yard, a cozy bed to share, and plenty of time for love and training, Ursula is ready to start her next adventure with you! Every PAWS dog is loved, vetted, and ready for a fresh start July 1, 2026, 4:12 pm

Story
💔 Tragedy has struck one of our adopter families, leaving this deeply bonded mother-daughter pair urgently in need of a new home.In January 2022, sweet Daisy came to us and delivered a litter of puppies in our care. She and one of her babies, Izzy, were adopted together—and they’ve been inseparable ever since. Izzy has always been a mama’s girl. This week, their world was turned upside down. The woman who gave them a loving home was tragically killed in a car accident. 💔 Her family can’t keep the dogs and has asked us to take them back. Now Daisy and Izzy need someone to give them a second chance—together, if at all possible.🐶 Izzy is the perfect girl:✔️ Great with kids✔️ Good with cats and dogs✔️ Loving and easygoing🐕‍🦺 Daisy (the mama) is more sensitive:She’s fearful of strangers and takes time to warm up.She is not aggressive, but has occasionally nipped when scared. She needs a calm, patient home that will let her adjust at her own pace.We know it’s a hard time for dogs needing homes. But we also know there’s someone out there who can offer these girls the stability and love they’ve lost.🙏 Please consider opening your heart and your home to Izzy and Daisy—whether through adoption or foster care. You can apply at ricopetrecovery.org.

Story
Nutmeg’s story started when our team recovered her in the middle of nowhere. She had been abandoned and was clearly not a dog that showed signs of being loved. Now, she’s slowly discovering that humans can be safe, and full of ear scratches (which she has decided are absolutely the best thing ever). She’s still learning how to “dog,” and new things can feel scary at first. Nutmeg is a flight risk and will always need a secure harness and leash outside, even in a fenced yard for a while. She needs time to decompress, build trust, and move at her own pace. But once you’re in her circle? She falls in love. The shy little girl who once avoided people starts seeking you out for affection, quiet companionship, and those magical ear scratches.Nutmeg is wonderful with dogs and cats of all sizes in her foster home. In fact Nutmeg needs to be placed in a family with another calm well balanced dog who can show her how to be a pet and trust humans. She would do best with a patient, understanding family willing to let her blossom in her own time. Nutmeg is scared of people moving fast and of loud noises. For this reason we do not recommend Nutmeg for a family with children. She would do best in a family with adults or teens and in a quiet household without a lot of visitors. She is about a year old and 16 pounds. You can apply to meet her at ricopetrecovery.org.  Adoption fee is $350

Story
Chonky is a 6 year old beagle/boxer mix. He is a couch potato, and would love nothing more than to curl up and snuggle all day. He loves to be around people, and will follow you through the house for “moral support.” He has lived with other dogs before, but seems to do best with low energy dogs that give him his personal space. He does not like to be jumped on or wrestled with. He doesn’t do well with cats, but has lived around Guinea pigs and ferrets and seemed very unbothered/disinterested by them. He is a very sweet, loving dog who wants nothing more than to be by your side. Has been around kids his whole life and loves them. A little shy at first, but once he warms up to you he will be your best friend.

Story
Elliot will be 12 in November and has been part of our family along with her sister since they were 14 weeks old. Elliot is a gentle 30lb girl. She loves going for walks and running outside. She loves being pet and cuddling up next to you. She is quite protective and will alert if anyone enters the home/yard, she welcomes people kindly but with caution. Elliot loves playing with her sister and is fine around other animals but generally prefers to keep to herself. She is good with children. We love her very much and this is a hard decision to come to, but we have entered a different season of life as we now have three young children and are having a fourth child this summer - between my husband and I both having full time jobs and parenting we are no longer able to give them the love and attention they deserve. We are hoping they will find a loving home to ideally take them on together as they have been lifelong besties.
