Story
Viktor is currently fostered in Mentor Ohio, and his adoption fee/donation is $150 Update 10/4/2021 Viktor was seen at a Behavior clinic and is on medication for his anxiety issues and not being able to be leashed. His foster said he is making progress with wearing a leash but it is slow going. He is doing well with the other dogs in the foster home. Victor update 4/23/2020 Viktor Requires a fenced yard with direct access from the living area Victor has really settled down A LOT in his foster home!! In fact he has really bonded with one of his foster fur brothers (Jasper) The two of them have become like peas and carrots!! They do everything TOGETHER! Sleep together, play, run, chase, practically attached at the hip. We are so impressed with how well he is doing. However we recently had him stay with a different foster home for a day or two, just to see how he did away from his normal environment, and away from Jasper. We wanted to test him, and see if he was ok, and not revert back to the old “FERAL VICTOR” Well unfortunately he reverted back to acting extremely feral in the new foster home. He would not allow anyone in the house to touch him, he constantly ran away from any and all human interaction. He would find a corner to hide in and just shake and tremble for hours. Once they were able to get him outside in a fenced yard, he kept running around the yard, trying to get away, and it took over an hour to get him back in the house. Victor CANNOT be leashed to this day. If his foster tries to put a leash on him, he freaks out, and pulls, thrashes trying to escape his collar to get away. After trying the different environment, we had to get him back to his original foster, we couldn’t let him be freaked out like he was any longer. Once he was back “HOME” he went right back to being his happy self, and was SO HAPPY to be back with his Buddy Jasper!!! He is going to need a very experienced, special adopter, one that has a SECURED fenced in yard, this is a MUST, there are NO EXCEPTIONS!!! They will need to have at least one or two other dogs for him to bond with, as he cant handle being an only dog, because of his feral background. The best case scenario for victor, would be to get adopted along with his buddy jasper (2 yr cocker spaniel special needs). It would be the best possible home for him, but we realize this is not an easy thing to do, it is our wish though, that this could happen for both of them. Original Bio Hi there, My name is Viktor, I am a beagle mix of some sort, and I am only 2 yr old. I had a rough start in life, I was born in the wild to feral mother dog, and the animal warden had to trap me to catch me!!! I was so fearful of humans, I had no social skills at all, and took quite some time to come around when being near humans. I am happy to report, that I am now ready for adoption!! I am able to be petted, loved on, and live like a real dog, isn’t that so cool!! I am living with many other foster brothers and sisters, the four-legged kind that is. I get along well with them, and like to play, I still have a ways to go when it comes to being leashed, and walking without freaking out!! I will need a forever home that has at least one other dog, because I get my confidence from them, it’s a comfort mechanism for me, and I would be sad if I were alone without another dog as a friend. I need to be in a fenced in yard when I go outside, I am learning about something called housetraining, and I think I am catching on. I do my business outside when my foster mom puts me out, but I do still occasionally make a mistake. I am used to my crate, and I stay in there every day when my foster mom works, you see it keeps me out of trouble!! I am a small dog, only about 20 lbs, I am full grown, and will not get any bigger, so if you are looking for smaller, then I could be your dog!! Oh, I do have a bad habit of chewing things, so I am told I am not supposed to do that. I like to chew, its fun, but these humans tell me that is NOT NICE, and I get into trouble when I chew up something.I will work on being a good boy, I promise, I just need to be trained I guess, can you help me? I will give you lots of love in return!!! Viktor is neutered, current on vaccines, and is heartworm negative. Story
No mistaking this solid guy for a his little yellowbird namesake. Woodstock has the nose of a Beagle and the heart of an American bulldog. He can often be found hopping around the play yard, throwing a toy in the air so he can chase after it and giving his belly up to all his friends. He's a rock star in our playgroup and loves everyone he meets. Despite his playful tendencies, Woodstock's sweet demeanor and stout size make him the best cuddle buddy and walking companion. Woodstock is a fan favorite and would make an exceptional family dog, he is truly in love with life and very sweet mannered. Due to how -AWESOME- he is, we're hoping he can get a little foster break from the shelter and shack up with some bffs! If you're interested in possibly hanging out with him for some sunshine time, email us today at foster@cuyahogacounty.us.

Story
Say hello to Nubbs! He is an 11 year old Beagle/Bulldog mix who weighs 40 pounds. Nubbs is a very laid-back boy who definitely enjoys a slow paced lifestyle. He enjoys going for walks and exploring outside, but he is always ready for a nap afterwards. He enjoys spending time with those closest to him, but he has no problem enjoying his independent time as well. Nubbs shows potential to live in a home with another dog as well. Since he is such a social pup, he could live with children ages 10 and older. If Nubbs looks like the pup for you, give us a call at 330-487-0333 ext 226 to learn more about him and schedule a time to come in and meet!

Story
Cooper wins the prize for the cutest underbite and droopiest jowls. Cooper is a male beagle/bulldog mix (commonly known as a Beabull) that weighs 65 pounds. He is 6 ½ years old. Cooper came to us as an owner surrender through no fault of his own. This boy is awesome and very smart! He is crate-trained and housetrained but would benefit from a routine for his potty habits. He would thrive in a home with a calmer quiet household and a fenced in yard. He is ready to sneak his way into any available lap even though he is a big boy. He walks like a champ on leash and loves his harness. A few extra walks a day would help him and his human out.  His butt wiggle will put a smile on your face. Cooper is easy-going, friendly, and oh so sweet. He will bark to let you know that he has to use the bathroom yard facilities. He enjoys all toys and balls, is a chewer and loves his large nylon bones. Cooper would probably be best as an only dog and he is good with cats. Cooper would be best with older teenage kids or an adult household because he does not know his size. He has a medium energy level. Cooper is a big baby when it comes to loud noises, thunder and fireworks. He is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on all shots. Please email dogadoptions@parmashelter.org to meet Cooper. Cooper’s adoption fee is $160         Like Parma Animal Shelter on FACEBOOK and help pass the word about our adoptable guests!  Don't forget to share pictures with your friends!  Follow us on Twitter https://twitter.com/ParmaAnimalShel   Submit an application to adopt on our website parmashelter.org           June 6, 2023, 5:07 pm

Story
To be considered for adopting a dog from Canine Lifeline, you must have an approved application must be on file. Please visit http://www.caninelifeline.org/adoption-process/ for more information about our adoption process and to submit an online application.   Meet Dixie, a 3 year-old girl who looks like she might have some Beagle in her family tree. She’s a true Heinz-57 as she weighs about 40 pounds and has really pretty black and tan markings. Dixie was surrendered to a county dog shelter by her family who could no longer take care of her in their apartment. She is very friendly with people and while her previous owners said she was dog-friendly, we have found that she can be very particular about her dog friends. Dixie is definitely a dominant dog around other dogs and will befriend another dog as long as it is on her own terms. The other dog must respect that Dixie is going to be the boss and not challenge her over a toy or other prized possession.  Dixie LOVES toys and has a favorite stuffed football that she is especially fond of. She has had excellent crate manners since she’s been with us and may be housetrained too although we can’t promise that she won’t have an accident or two as she adjusts to her new home. Dixie seems to have had no experience on a leash when she first came to us as she is extremely strong and will pull very hard. We have been working with her on an Easy Walk harness and she does better but can still become reactive when she sees another dog.  Dixie would do best in a home that has a yard with a privacy fence so she could run and play to her heart's content. A home in a rural area or quiet neighborhood where she wouldn't meet a lot of other dogs daily would be best for her. Dixie can also be quite vocal when excited so a busy urban or suburban setting would probably be too much for her. In the right environment and with some continued obedience training, Dixie will make a very loyal and devoted companion. Dixie weighs about 40 pounds and her adoption fee is $250. She’s spayed, heartworm negative and on monthly preventative, up to date on vaccinations, wormed, on flea and tick preventative, and microchipped. As part of the adoption process, all adopters must commit to a two-week adjustment period to make sure it’s a great match before the adoption is finalized. Please email info@caninelifeline.org if you’re interested in Dixie. An approved application is required before we schedule meets with any of our dogs. Please note that we don’t place our dogs in homes with children under 7 years of age. We correspond via email so please check your junkmail or spam folder to make sure our reply hasn’t landed in there. Please visit our website at www.caninelifeline.org to see more photos of Dixie and to submit an online application.June 5, 2023, 8:43 pm
