Story
Fans of the TV show “My Name is Earl” will be delighted to hear that we have a dog named Earl up for adoption. Earl is a male Beagle mix that weighs around 40 lbs. We estimate his age to be 10 years old. This older gent found himself at the shelter after he was found as a stray and no one claimed him. Do not let the gray in his muzzle fool you. Earl is spunky and has a medium to low energy level. He is easy to walk and does not pull. He enjoys following his nose and sniffing everything. He will play with toys for a short while. He loves attention and will soak up any he can get. Earl would be perfect in a calmer household. He has shown great potential with other dogs. As always, a meet and greet with resident canines is required. Compatibility with cats is unknown. Older children are fine. Earl is available for our foster to adopt program which means you can foster him in your home until he finishes his vetting which includes neuter, vaccines, heartworm testing, and microchip. Please email dogadoptions@parmashelter.org and fill out an adoption application online to meet Earl. Earl’s adoption fee is $85. Earl is one cool dude.           Like Parma Animal Shelter on FACEBOOK and help pass the word about our adoptable guests!  Don't forget to share pictures with your friends!  Follow us on Twitter https://twitter.com/ParmaAnimalShel   Submit an application to adopt on our website parmashelter.org           April 22, 2024, 5:39 pm

Story
Bailey is a wonderful dog who is super loving and full of energy. She enjoys spending time at the dog park running and playing with other dogs. She’s a beagle and is very food and scent driven. She loves hunting squirrels in our backyard and can spend hours waiting for the right moment. She enjoys naps and is keen to spend evenings under the covers. Bailey is 6 years old and very much in her prime. Her new home should be ready for walks, plenty of playing and snuggles as well. It would be best if she were the only dog as she does require a lot of attention. She is great with other dogs and animals as well as kids but at this point we feel she’d be better in a home where she’s the center of attention.

Story
Meet Lucy! Lucy is a darling 9 year old, 33 pound beagle who arrived to TRI after a life of breeding. Lucy acclimated amazingly well to foster care! Lucy is good with her foster mom's grandchildren and all her canine foster siblings. Lucy loves being outside in the yard. She likes to chew hard bones and play with stuffed toys. Lucy is crated trained for when her foster mom leaves the house, and she is housebroken. Lucy is not a lap dog, but she likes to be pet and be social with humans and animals. True to her breed, Lucy follows her nose and wants to reach any food she smells Lucy is currently working on learning commands, starting with sit and down. If you're interested in Lucy, email us at therescueinn@gmail.com or complete an adoption application here as a next step: https://therescueinn.com/adoption-application.html

Story
Please contact melissa (melissa@pawsandprayers.org) for more information about this pet.  Meet Brownie!  He is about 4 years old, weighs 25 pounds, and is a beagle mix. Brownie is a friendly guy that enjoys spending time with his humans.  He enjoys being outside and is an excellent hiking buddy. Brownie has the "just right" amount of energy -- enjoys activities but is also content just being by your side. He is crate trained and housebroken. Brownie has done well with dogs his own size, but has been selective with dogs larger than him.  We are seeking a home where Brownie can be the only pet and with no children.  Brownie has guarded some of his favorite things previously and we are confident he will do well with the proper guidance.  A trainer is available to work with his new family at no cost to them (local to Cuyahoga Falls area).   His adoption fee includes age-appropriate vaccines, microchip, and neuter. The first step in the adoption process is to fill out an adoption application today at our website  www.pawsandprayers.org. Brownie's adoption fee is $250.    ***The first step in the adoption process is to fill out an adoption application today at our website www.pawsandprayers.org. Story
Please contact melissa (melissa@pawsandprayers.org) for more information about this pet.  Meet Ozzy!  He is about 5 years old, weighs 25 pounds, and is a beagle mix. Ozzy is a very sweet and chill guy.  He doesn't mind curling up in the same room as his human or getting in sniffs outside. Ozzy is generally quiet and is a medium energy level. He is dog friendly. Ozzy is crate trained. He has not met kids or cats.  Ozzy came from a rural county and we believe he was living outside. The edges of his ears are rough, but that doesn't deter him down from being the sweetest! His adoption fee includes age-appropriate vaccines, microchip, and neuter. Story
Viktor is currently fostered in Mentor Ohio, and his adoption fee/donation is $150 Update 10/4/2021 Viktor was seen at a Behavior clinic and is on medication for his anxiety issues and not being able to be leashed. His foster said he is making progress with wearing a leash but it is slow going. He is doing well with the other dogs in the foster home. Victor update 4/23/2020 Viktor Requires a fenced yard with direct access from the living area Victor has really settled down A LOT in his foster home!! In fact he has really bonded with one of his foster fur brothers (Jasper) The two of them have become like peas and carrots!! They do everything TOGETHER! Sleep together, play, run, chase, practically attached at the hip. We are so impressed with how well he is doing. However we recently had him stay with a different foster home for a day or two, just to see how he did away from his normal environment, and away from Jasper. We wanted to test him, and see if he was ok, and not revert back to the old “FERAL VICTOR” Well unfortunately he reverted back to acting extremely feral in the new foster home. He would not allow anyone in the house to touch him, he constantly ran away from any and all human interaction. He would find a corner to hide in and just shake and tremble for hours. Once they were able to get him outside in a fenced yard, he kept running around the yard, trying to get away, and it took over an hour to get him back in the house. Victor CANNOT be leashed to this day. If his foster tries to put a leash on him, he freaks out, and pulls, thrashes trying to escape his collar to get away. After trying the different environment, we had to get him back to his original foster, we couldn’t let him be freaked out like he was any longer. Once he was back “HOME” he went right back to being his happy self, and was SO HAPPY to be back with his Buddy Jasper!!! He is going to need a very experienced, special adopter, one that has a SECURED fenced in yard, this is a MUST, there are NO EXCEPTIONS!!! They will need to have at least one or two other dogs for him to bond with, as he cant handle being an only dog, because of his feral background. The best case scenario for victor, would be to get adopted along with his buddy jasper (2 yr cocker spaniel special needs). It would be the best possible home for him, but we realize this is not an easy thing to do, it is our wish though, that this could happen for both of them. Original Bio Hi there, My name is Viktor, I am a beagle mix of some sort, and I am only 2 yr old. I had a rough start in life, I was born in the wild to feral mother dog, and the animal warden had to trap me to catch me!!! I was so fearful of humans, I had no social skills at all, and took quite some time to come around when being near humans. I am happy to report, that I am now ready for adoption!! I am able to be petted, loved on, and live like a real dog, isn’t that so cool!! I am living with many other foster brothers and sisters, the four-legged kind that is. I get along well with them, and like to play, I still have a ways to go when it comes to being leashed, and walking without freaking out!! I will need a forever home that has at least one other dog, because I get my confidence from them, it’s a comfort mechanism for me, and I would be sad if I were alone without another dog as a friend. I need to be in a fenced in yard when I go outside, I am learning about something called housetraining, and I think I am catching on. I do my business outside when my foster mom puts me out, but I do still occasionally make a mistake. I am used to my crate, and I stay in there every day when my foster mom works, you see it keeps me out of trouble!! I am a small dog, only about 20 lbs, I am full grown, and will not get any bigger, so if you are looking for smaller, then I could be your dog!! Oh, I do have a bad habit of chewing things, so I am told I am not supposed to do that. I like to chew, its fun, but these humans tell me that is NOT NICE, and I get into trouble when I chew up something.I will work on being a good boy, I promise, I just need to be trained I guess, can you help me? I will give you lots of love in return!!! Viktor is neutered, current on vaccines, and is heartworm negative. If you would like to adopt Viktor or would like more information on him, please fill out an adoption application We do not have a shelter, all rescues are in foster homes - Dogs are not shown without first being approved to adopt.
