Story
Say hello to Nubbs! He is an 11 year old Beagle/Bulldog mix who weighs 40 pounds. Nubbs is a very laid-back boy who definitely enjoys a slow paced lifestyle. He enjoys going for walks and exploring outside, but he is always ready for a nap afterwards. He enjoys spending time with those closest to him, but he has no problem enjoying his independent time as well. Nubbs shows potential to live in a home with another dog as well. Since he is such a social pup, he could live with children ages 10 and older. If Nubbs looks like the pup for you, give us a call at 330-487-0333 ext 226 to learn more about him and schedule a time to come in and meet!

Story
To be considered for adopting a dog from Canine Lifeline, you must have an approved application must be on file. Please visit http://www.caninelifeline.org/adoption-process/ for more information about our adoption process and to submit an online application.   Meet Dixie, a 3 year-old girl who looks like she might have some Beagle in her family tree. She’s a true Heinz-57 as she weighs about 40 pounds and has really pretty black and tan markings. Dixie was surrendered to a county dog shelter by her family who could no longer take care of her in their apartment. She is very friendly with people and while her previous owners said she was dog-friendly, we have found that she can be very particular about her dog friends. Dixie is definitely a dominant dog around other dogs and will befriend another dog as long as it is on her own terms. The other dog must respect that Dixie is going to be the boss and not challenge her over a toy or other prized possession.  Dixie LOVES toys and has a favorite stuffed football that she is especially fond of. She has had excellent crate manners since she’s been with us and may be housetrained too although we can’t promise that she won’t have an accident or two as she adjusts to her new home. Dixie seems to have had no experience on a leash when she first came to us as she is extremely strong and will pull very hard. We have been working with her on an Easy Walk harness and she does better but can still become reactive when she sees another dog.  Dixie would do best in a home that has a yard with a privacy fence so she could run and play to her heart's content. A home in a rural area or quiet neighborhood where she wouldn't meet a lot of other dogs daily would be best for her. Dixie can also be quite vocal when excited so a busy urban or suburban setting would probably be too much for her. In the right environment and with some continued obedience training, Dixie will make a very loyal and devoted companion. Dixie weighs about 40 pounds and her adoption fee is $250. She’s spayed, heartworm negative and on monthly preventative, up to date on vaccinations, wormed, on flea and tick preventative, and microchipped. As part of the adoption process, all adopters must commit to a two-week adjustment period to make sure it’s a great match before the adoption is finalized. Please email info@caninelifeline.org if you’re interested in Dixie. An approved application is required before we schedule meets with any of our dogs. Please note that we don’t place our dogs in homes with children under 7 years of age. We correspond via email so please check your junkmail or spam folder to make sure our reply hasn’t landed in there. Story
To be considered for adopting a dog from Canine Lifeline, you must have an approved application must be on file. Please visit http://www.caninelifeline.org/adoption-process/ for more information about our adoption process and to submit an online application.   This cute little 1 year-old gent is Lincoln, a tri-colored mix of perhaps Beagle, Jack Russell Terrier, and Dachshund. He was found as a stray in a rural area so we have no info as to his pre-shelter life or true breed mix. Lincoln wasn’t claimed at the shelter so he made the trip to Canine Lifeline so he could take his time finding the perfect new home. The trip up to us was stressful to Lincoln and he needed a day or two to relax and realize that he was among friends now and there was nothing to worry about. Lincoln will be shy at first when going to a new home but he adjusted beautifully in his foster home after only a few days. He’s fine with his foster mom picking him up and has even given a couple of kisses on occasion. Once he's comfortable with someone, he's definitely a lap dog! It does take Lincoln time to trust new people though. Until he feels comfortable with someone new, if a new person he doesn't know reaches out to pet him or try to pick him up, he is likely to bite. Lincoln needs a very dog-experienced adopter who understands how to manage fearful dogs and will give him the space he needs to feel comfortable in a new environment. He wouldn't do well in an apartment or busy urban/suburban neighborhood where he would be encountering new people on a daily basis. Lincoln gets along well with other dogs so might benefit from having a confident canine buddy his size in his new home to help show him the ropes. We think he would be happiest in a quiet home with one or two adults and without children where he could truly relax and make himself at home. A home in quiet area with a yard that has a secure aboveground fence would be ideal for him. Lincoln walks nicely on a leash, keeps his crate spotless, and may be housetrained too although we can’t guarantee that he won’t have an accident or two as he gets used to his environment. It’s frightening to think of what Lincoln might have endured during his days as a stray in the big wide world all alone but with lots of patience, love, and reassurance, he will soon put those scary days in the past and be living his very best life in his new home. Lincoln weighs about 16 pounds and his adoption fee is $350. He’s neutered, heartworm negative and on monthly preventative, up to date on vaccinations, wormed, on flea and tick preventative, and microchipped. As part of the adoption process, all adopters must commit to a two-week adjustment period to make sure it’s a great match before the adoption is finalized. Please email info@caninelifeline.org if you’re interested in Lincoln. An approved application is required before we schedule meets with any of our dogs. Story
To be considered for adopting a dog from Canine Lifeline, you must have an approved application must be on file. Please visit http://www.caninelifeline.org/adoption-process/ for more information about our adoption process and to submit an online application.   Oakley is a real character! This two-year old’s breed mix is truly a mystery. It looks like he may have some Beagle in his family tree but the shape of his face is clearly different. Maybe some Jack Russel or other mystery breeds in his DNA? Your guess is as good as ours. A DNA test would certainly prove very interesting for him! Oakley was living in a dangerous situation where he was allowed to run loose. Fortunately, his owner surrendered him to another rescuer so he could get the chance to live a safe and happy life where he would not be neglected. From there, he made the trip to Canine Lifeline so he could relax in a foster home while searching for a great new home. Oakley is quite an active little guy. He’s very athletic and can jump like he’s filled with jumping beans. Oakley can climb out of a 3 foot tall pen so will need a tall fence in his new home or to be kept on a leash at all times. He gets very excited about toys of all kinds and is super food-motivated. Oakley does well with other dogs so would likely enjoy having an energetic canine buddy to pal around with in his new home. For an active young dog, he settles down amazingly well in his crate. He loves curling up on a cozy blanket for a nap when playtime is over and keeps his crate spotless. Oakley will likely pick up the house-training rules quickly in his new home. He would excel with an active person or family who is looking for a little walking, jogging, or hiking buddy. Oakley definitely has the stamina to keep up with the big dogs and is looking forward to a home where he can have lots of fun adventures and live his life as a treasured family member. He weighs about 19 pounds and his adoption fee is $350. He’s neutered, heartworm negative and on monthly preventative, up to date on vaccinations, wormed, on flea and tick preventative, and microchipped. As part of the adoption process, all adopters must commit to a two-week adjustment period to make sure it’s a great match before the adoption is finalized. Story
To be considered for adopting a dog from Canine Lifeline, you must have an approved application must be on file. Please visit http://www.caninelifeline.org/adoption-process/ for more information about our adoption process and to submit an online application.   Frank is a very sweet 3-4 year-old Beagle/Doxie mix neutered male who came to us from a rural county dog shelter after having been pulled from a hoarding situation in which there were 66 dogs living in the home. Frank along with many of his buddies tested positive for heartworms at the overwhelmed shelter so Canine Lifeline pulled Frank along with 8 of his pals so they could get the lifesaving treatment that they needed here with us. We’re happy to report that Frank has completed his series of three immiticide injections to kill the adult heartworms and has been doing very well during his recuperation period in his foster home. He had no complications during his treatment and adjusted well to crate rest and short leash walks as prescribed.  Frank “the Tank” is not only admirably resilient, but has maintained the kindest soul throughout all of his perils. There are so many things about Frank that make him an “easy” dog. He is wonderful in his crate, has had very few accidents in the house, and is the QUIETEST dog I’ve ever encountered. When he has had to be left alone for crate rest or while I’m at work, he has never protested or made a peep. He does not require a ton of exercise or attention to be happy, just a comfy couch and a warm lap he can sit on daily to receive affection. He gets along well with every dog we’ve met, even showing remarkable tolerance and restraint with his bully-of-a-chihuahua foster brother. With that said, Frank is still a dog that, after having lived his entire life outdoors with 66 other dogs, is learning to adjust to a new world of “scary” sights, sounds, and people. He will need owners who are patient and most importantly CAREFUL. Although never aggressive, Frank is very skittish with new people and likely will not be a dog that “shines” in a meet-and-greet because he may act very timid.  Once Frank is comfortable with someone, he is a completely different dog…a silly, carefree, affectionate boy who greets you with kisses galore and will literally leap onto your lap for more cuddles…but it may take him a week or so to open up to his new owner(s). He is absolutely WORTH the wait and I guarantee once he trusts you, you will experience unmatched love and loyalty. Having a friendly, confident dog in the house would be great for helping to show Frank the ropes, but I believe he could also be very happy as an only dog as long as his owners are patient with him and give him lots of couch cuddles. Because of Frank’s skittishness, he has proven to be a “flight risk” and that is why it is EXTREMELY important that whoever adopts him does not give him any opportunities to slip out of a cracked door or be off leash outside. Frank will RUN if he gets loose and he is FAST. He does not respond well to being clipped to a tie-out line, so he will either need a fenced in yard or an owner dedicated to taking him outside on a leash for potty breaks. He walks great on a leash but occasionally becomes “spooked” and will try to thrash his head around to escape, so he should never be walked using a normal collar/leash. A leash attached to a harness is recommended, or at the very least, a well-fit martingale collar or slip lead so that there is no way he can break or slip out of the collar and start running. All-in-all, Frank has been incredibly easy to care for and has grown to show me so much love and trust. He greets me more enthusiastically than my own dogs and, although he could still benefit from learning some basic obedience and food manners (he loves people food!), he really is a dream dog who will continue to blossom in a loving home. Frank weighs about 20 pounds and his adoption fee is $300. He’s neutered, on monthly heartworm preventative, up to date on vaccinations including bivalent canine influenza, wormed, on flea and tick preventative, and microchipped. As part of the adoption process, all adopters must commit to a two-week adjustment period to make sure it’s a great match before the adoption is finalized. Please visit http://www.caninelifeline.org/adoption-process/ for more information about our adoption process and to submit an online application.   Elmer is a super-friendly 1 year-old Beagle/Doxie mix neutered male who came to us from a rural county dog shelter after having been pulled from a hoarding situation in which there were 66 dogs living in the home. Elmer along with many of his buddies tested positive for heartworms at the overwhelmed shelter so Canine Lifeline pulled Elmer along with 8 of his pals so they could get the lifesaving treatment that they needed here with us. We’re happy to report that Elmer has completed his series of three immiticide injections to kill the adult heartworms and has been doing very well during his recuperation period in his foster home. He had no complications during his treatment and adjusted well to crate rest and short leash walks as prescribed. Elmer gets along well with other dogs but is especially fond of people. He is sweet, very loving, wants attention, and loves to sit by his foster mom on the couch when it's TV time! Elmer is a pro at finding an empty lap in which to make himself comfortable. He also loves being carried around and lots of snuggle time suits him to a tee. Elmer is a young dog though and has plenty of spunk. He loves going for a walk but will need more practice on a leash as his enthusiasm has him all over the place on a walk. Elmer has done well in his crate when his foster mom is home. He often goes into one of his crates voluntarily and seems to enjoy spending time in there when she’s home. He does not like being crated when she leaves though and will try hard to break out of a crate even though he is around other dogs. He has done better when left alone in a sturdy plastic travel crate rather than a wire crate. Elmer would do best with someone who is home much of the time as he is such a “people person”. Elmer has been very quiet in his foster home. Even when the other dogs bark, Elmer rarely joins in. This little guy is a serious sun worshipper, enjoying a cozy nap in the sun whenever he can. Elmer is a climber so will need a yard with a fence that he cannot climb. A wood privacy fence would be ideal for him. He also enjoys climbing on things indoors so will need some supervision as he learns that walking on coffee tables, etc are not good doggie manners. He has had very few accidents in his foster home so should pick up the house rules quickly in his new home. If you’ve got the time and patience to give this sweet boy the great life he deserves, Elmer would love to meet you. Elmer weighs about 20 pounds and his adoption fee is $300. He’s neutered, on monthly heartworm preventative, up to date on vaccinations including bivalent canine influenza, wormed, on flea and tick preventative, and microchipped.
