Story
Gary is a beagle mix puppy who's learning all the joys of being a family dog. He's doing great with potty training and will let you know when he needs a break. He's still getting used to his crate but he settles with routine. He loves other dogs and currently enjoys playing with two frenchies in his foster home. A home with another playful pup would be a big plus for him. He hasn't met cats. Gary also does well with a 1 year old child in the home and has shown no aggression--just normal puppy nibbles. Like any young pup, he's in his chewing phase and still figuring out toys, but he's curious and learning quickly. He's also working on leash skills and gaining confidence with each walk. Once he bonds with you he becomes incredibly loyal and affectionate. He's a gentle, playful puppy looking for a loving home to help him continue growing into the wonderful dog he's meant to be. The adoption fee for all of our dogs is $300.00 and that includes their vaccinations, spay or neuter, rabies and microchip. To start the process please visit our website and fill out the adoption application (www.dfwrescueme.org) and from there the foster family can answer any questions and arrange a time to meet. Gary is participating in the DFW Rescue Me guest dog program, so ongoing care and custody is provided by her foster, not by DFWRM.July 27, 2026, 1:46 am

Story
Andi is super sweet 10 years old girl. At her age, she lazes around a lot. She does have the loud beagle bark when she uses it but is not a constant barker. She has been around cats her whole life. I am not sure if she has ever been fully potty trained but has been having a lot of accidents inside since her owner died. The house I inherited with her flooded and needs months of remediation and I can’t afford to kennel her that long even if I can keep finding spaces. I am not finding accommodations where I can take 4 pets and I don’t think she could stay in a hotel as she might decide to use her back with all the noises you here in one.

Story
Meet Bagel 🐾 (I will give $300.00 to YOU to ensure a good transition for her!) Bagel is a sweet, affectionate small dog who loves being around people. She truly hasn’t met a stranger—everyone is a potential friend in her eyes. Around the home, she’s happy, content, and easy to live with. Like many small dogs, Bagel will give a quick bark when someone knocks at the door, but she settles down right away once you open it. She currently lives with another dog and does well after proper introductions, showing she can be a great companion in a multi-dog home. Bagel enjoys her walks and car rides. While she gets excited when something catches her attention, she’s not overly high-strung like some small breeds can be. She has a nice balance of energy and calm. She’ll be active with you or she’ll just chill out most of the time if that’s what you’re doing (very flexible). She has short hair, so shedding is minimal and she’s easy to keep clean. Bagel would be happy in any home or apartment.

Story
Hi, my name is Lady May! Im a lazy girl who is sweet, loving, and kind! I would love a home where I can lounge around, cuddle with whoever is offering me attention, and be able to be my playful self! I was dumped by the lake, but thankfully I found some great people who have been caring for me, although they can’t keep me. I’ve had a few litters of puppies, but I’m spayed now! I’m great with other dogs, around kids, and I’m house trained!

Story
Dolores (aka LoLo) was adopted from our program in July of 2025 but unfortunately her owner passed away suddenly. She's now back with our program and in foster care while she waits for her new family. She is eight years old and 45-50 lbs.  Lolo loves daily walks, sun puddles, naps, cuddling with her people, naps, belly rubs, and treats. Did we mention naps? While in her foster home, she's loved small interactions with neighbors and their dogs, but would do best in a calm, quiet home. Due to her age and need for space, she shouldn't be in a home with small and/or rowdy kiddos. Other calm dogs who keep to themselves would likely be ok, or she would thrive as your one and only.  Dolores is spayed, current on vaccines and microchipped. She tested positive for heartworms a year ago and was treated via the slow-kill method. She will be re-tested in July and we're hoping for a negative result.  Her adoption fee is $200. If you are interested in adopting this sweet lady, please complete an online application today at: https://legacyhumanesociety.org/adoption-application/ Age: seven years Weight: 43lbsWe do not have a facility to house the dogs in our program. They are all kept in foster homes until they are adopted. Therefore, if you are interested in adopting from LHS, please complete an online application at http://legacyhumanesociety.org/adoptfoster/adoption-application/ and we will contact you asap about the status of your application. Story
Benny is a senior boy with lots of energy, enthusiasm, love and affection. He lives with lots of other dogs and gets along with everyone. He would love to chase the cats if he could so might not be good in a home with cats. He loves a chance to use his Beagle voice but is not an excessive barker; only uses it when he has a reason. He loves being with his human almost as much as treat and meal times. He is not much for car rides, he is good about riding but whines seems nervous wondering where he’s going. Guessing in the past car rides did not end in fun activities for him. He’s a very social boy, loves humans of all sizes and ages and is always happy for rubs and attention. Benny has great house manners and although he uses a crate in his foster home he would be fine without one once he knows his routine. He is fully vetted - current with his vaccines, neutered, on heartworm and flea/tick prevention and he is microchipped.
