Story
Animal Profile: Bodhi is an estimated 2-year-old, 75-pound Doberman Shepherd or possibly Beauceron mix. This guy is full of spunk and loves to play. Sadly, Bodhi found himself at risk in an overcrowded shelter simply because there wasn’t enough space.  Foster Update: Bodhi is a smart, biddable, confident and fun dog. He loves to play -- fetch, tug, wrestling, doesn't matter -- and work. He truly enjoys obedience training, and structured play is a great way to fill his cup. He is fully crate trained and house-trained and has great dog social skills with both large and small dogs. He has not been evaluated with cats and we would require cat testing prior to placement.  Bodhi is a guardian breed mix and absolutely needs a knowledgeable owner who can provide him leadership and structure, as well as enforce boundaries. Without this relationship dynamic, Bodhi is pushy with his people, and territorial to newcomers. WIth the right relationship dynamic, Bodhi is biddable with his person and accepting of new people. Bodhi will do best with an intentional owner who wants to do stuff with him (versus as a hang around the house, kind of pet) although Bodhi does absolutely have a chill setting and is not hyperactive in the home.  He runs well on a leash and goes on regular 3-mile runs with a volunteer. He knows sit, down -- with implied stays -- recalls with distractions, and walks nicely on leash. He is absolutely a lot of dog and a "dog person" will truly appreciate him. He would be too much for a first time or inexperienced dog owner.  Adopter Profile: Single family residence required No apartments or condos Fenced yard preferred (not required) Other dogs OK but not required Cats considered with evaluation Large breed experience required Training experience or commitment to learn required Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $575 which includes spay/neuter, core vaccinations per AVMA standards, heartworm test if applicable, recent exam with a veterinarian, and microchip with lifetime registration. Your adoption fee may be tax deductible as DGS is a 501c3 organization. All adoption fees go toward the care of all dogs in our rescue.  Apply Online: www.DogGoneSeattle.org/adoption-application Animal History: This dog was rescued from Stanislaus shelter in California, arriving to foster care in Seattle on 11/13 via START. This dog will be available for adoption in the greater Seattle area once evaluated in foster care.September 4, 2026, 4:05 pm

Apollo is extremely loyal to his family members and just wants to always be within eye sight of you. He is very chill indoors until a stranger comes to the door then he gets very protective, Apollo is friendly when out in public but protective when at home. He loves to play fetch and will do it until he gets too tired. We are moving to where our family business is and it will not be a proper environment to have a dog with his distrust of strangers. He will make a terrific companion to someone who is home most of the day that maybe lives on some property where strangers don’t walk up unannounced. He’s a fantastic guard dog. He is fine with people after he gets introduced but it requires a proper introduction with him before he feels comfortable. If interested I can go more into his temperment. He truly is the sweetest dog and our family is more than sad to see him go.

Story
THELMA HAS WAITED MORE THAN THREE YEARS. COULD YOU BE HER PERSON? 💛 Meet Thelma—the sweetest little “Tootsie Roll” with the biggest heart and is the biggest social bug around. 🐾 At 8–9 years old and around 55 lbs and shrinking, Thelma is an American Staffordshire Terrier mix who may look like a Pittie/Rottie cross, but her personality is pure love. She is mellow, affectionate, incredibly well-mannered, and happiest when she is close to her people. And those ears? They just show her personality all the time. Thelma is the wonderful combination of mature and playful. She loves walks, is nearly perfect on leash, can still enjoy a 3-mile hike, and occasionally breaks out into the cutest zoomies. But she is equally happy curling up on the couch and watching a ball game or hockey with you. She has thrived in foster care and is: ✔️ Crate trained ✔️ Potty trained ✔️ Great in the car ✔️ Excellent on leash ✔️ Very obedient and easygoing ✔️ Wonderful with most dogs ✔️ Comfortable going to work with her person She loves people, loves attention, and has a remarkable ability to sense when someone is anxious or upset. Thelma has a special gift for providing comfort—she'll lean in, snuggle close, and offer the kind of deep-pressure cuddles that make everything feel just a little better. ❤️ 💔 But Thelma has a history that matters. Before she was rescued, Thelma spent more than a year fenced outside an empty foreclosed home. She knows what it feels like to be abandoned, and that experience has left her with some separation anxiety. She is crate trained, but when left alone she needs some support—typically a frozen peanut-butter Kong, the TV on, and prescribed medication (Trazodone) to help her remain calm for a few hours. Because of this, Thelma is not a good fit for a home where she would routinely be left alone all day, such as 8 AM–6 PM. She would thrive with someone who works from home, can take her along, or otherwise has a lifestyle that allows her to spend plenty of time with her person. Thelma has already shown just how well she can do in that environment—she has gone to work every day with a veterinary technician and been wonderful around all kinds of animals. 🥰 Thelma would do best as an only pet or potentially with a calm male dog after proper introductions. Because she can be enthusiastic when greeting her favorite people, a home with older children would be best. 🥺 Three years. Three years of watching other dogs go home. Three years of loving the people around her. Three years of waiting for someone to look at her and say, “You're the one.” Somehow, through all of that, Thelma still greets the world with a wagging tail, happy wiggles, a huge smile, and an incredible capacity to love. She doesn't need a perfect family. She needs her family. Someone who understands that her past is part of her story—but doesn't have to define her future. Someone who wants a devoted companion for walks, adventures, couch time, road trips, game days, and an unlimited supply of snuggles. Someone who will never make her wonder if she's being abandoned again. If you're looking for a loyal best friend, an adventure buddy, a world-class cuddle companion, and a dog who will love you with her entire heart… Please consider Thelma. ❤️

Story
Meet Steve – Your New Best Friend! Steve is a 2-year-old Shepherd/Lab mix, weighing about 80lbs. Steve is fully vetted and ready for his forever home. This big, goofy boy brings so much joy everywhere he goes—you won’t be able to help but smile when he’s around. Even at the vet’s office, Steve is a total favorite. The staff lights up when they see him, and everyone has to stop for some love. Out on walks, people are drawn to his happy, sunshine personality. Steve is eager to learn and loves to please his people. He’s playful and full of life, but also just as happy to curl up and snuggle with you at the end of the day. Steve is crate trained and knows his basic commands. Steve would benefit from your ongoing recall training too. He walks well on a leash and has done well living with cats, kids and other dogs. Steve would thrive in a home where he has space to run and burn off his energy—he’s an active boy who loves to play! He’s joyful, affectionate, eager to learn, and full of personality. The kind of dog who becomes your shadow, your adventure buddy, and your couch companion all in one. Steve is vaccinated, neutered and micro-chipped.
