Story
Animal Profile: Bodhi is an estimated 2-year-old, 75-pound Doberman Shepherd or possibly Beauceron mix. This guy is full of spunk and loves to play. Sadly, Bodhi found himself at risk in an overcrowded shelter simply because there wasn’t enough space.  Foster Update: Bodhi is a smart, biddable, confident and fun dog. He loves to play -- fetch, tug, wrestling, doesn't matter -- and work. He truly enjoys obedience training, and structured play is a great way to fill his cup. He is fully crate trained and house-trained and has great dog social skills with both large and small dogs. He has not been evaluated with cats and we would require cat testing prior to placement.  Bodhi is a guardian breed mix and absolutely needs a knowledgeable owner who can provide him leadership and structure, as well as enforce boundaries. Without this relationship dynamic, Bodhi is pushy with his people, and territorial to newcomers. WIth the right relationship dynamic, Bodhi is biddable with his person and accepting of new people. Bodhi will do best with an intentional owner who wants to do stuff with him (versus as a hang around the house, kind of pet) although Bodhi does absolutely have a chill setting and is not hyperactive in the home.  He runs well on a leash and goes on regular 3-mile runs with a volunteer. He knows sit, down -- with implied stays -- recalls with distractions, and walks nicely on leash. He is absolutely a lot of dog and a "dog person" will truly appreciate him. He would be too much for a first time or inexperienced dog owner.  Adopter Profile: Single family residence required No apartments or condos Fenced yard preferred (not required) Other dogs OK but not required Cats considered with evaluation Large breed experience required Training experience or commitment to learn required Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $575 which includes spay/neuter, core vaccinations per AVMA standards, heartworm test if applicable, recent exam with a veterinarian, and microchip with lifetime registration. Your adoption fee may be tax deductible as DGS is a 501c3 organization. All adoption fees go toward the care of all dogs in our rescue.  Apply Online: www.DogGoneSeattle.org/adoption-application Animal History: This dog was rescued from Stanislaus shelter in California, arriving to foster care in Seattle on 11/13 via START. This dog will be available for adoption in the greater Seattle area once evaluated in foster care.April 7, 2026, 1:38 am

Story
Adele is a beautiful young German Shepherd, estimated to be around 2 years old, with a gentle and friendly personality that makes her a joy to be around. She’s the kind of dog who wants to be close to her people, soaking up attention and companionship while taking in the world around her. Adele came to us after someone reached out for help when she had just given birth to a litter of puppies. Sadly, she had been abandoned in the cold, and despite her best efforts to care for them, she lost her entire litter to the harsh weather before help could reach them. It’s a heartbreaking start to her story, but Adele has shown incredible resilience. Since coming into rescue, she has been recovering well, gaining strength, and starting to enjoy the safety and warmth she deserves. Through it all, she has remained sweet, trusting, and incredibly affectionate with the people around her. Now that she’s had time to heal, Adele is ready to start the next chapter of her life — finding a forever home where she will finally be the one being cared for and loved. If you’re looking for a loyal companion with a big heart and a gentle soul, Adele may be the perfect addition to your family.

Courtesy Post. To apply for Valkyrie please visit Northwest Rescue Collective, www.northwestrescuecollective.com Adoption Fee $200 Meet Valkyrie This 3-month-old German Shepherd mix is already showing off all the classic shepherd traits: smart, curious, and just the right amount of sass. She’s the kind of puppy who wants to know what you’re doing, help you do it, and probably earn a snack for her efforts. Still a baby, she’s learning quickly and soaking up everything her foster home is teaching her. With her food motivation and sharp little brain, she’s going to be a very fun dog to train. • 3-month-old German Shepherd mix • Very smart and eager to learn • Highly food motivated (training gold!) • Social and playful with other dogs • Neutral and respectful around cats • Curious, confident, and loves exploring • Typical shepherd puppy energy — playful, silly, and busy • Currently working on leash training • Learning crate training • Making good progress with potty training Valykrie will thrive with a family excited to continue training, provide structure, and give her plenty of playtime and mental enrichment. She is spayed, microchipped and up to date on her DHPP and rabies vaccines. Valkyrie is being fostered through Maddie's Place in Moses Lake, WA

Story
Meet Kiara Kiara is a courtesy posting. If you are interested please apply and we will forward your application on to our rescue partner. Kiara’s story begins the way too many do — abandoned and left to fend for herself. When she was picked up after being dumped, one thing was immediately clear: she had been living with pain. She was scheduled to be spayed right away, and once she recovered, further evaluation began for a chronic limp that had been ongoing for over a month. Kiara tries so hard to power through it. She is weight-bearing, but only placing about 50–60% of her weight on her right front leg. After sedation and radiographs, the extent of the injury became clear. Kiara has significant trauma to her right elbow — likely 1–2 months old and possibly consistent with being hit by a car. Imaging revealed: • Elbow dislocation • Medial epicondyle fracture • Possible coronoid process fracture • Bone debris and arthritic changes The damage appears permanent. Surgical repair carries a guarded prognosis for restoring normal joint function. One option discussed was elbow fusion, which could reduce pain but would eliminate movement in that joint. If pain cannot be managed long term, amputation may ultimately provide her the best quality of life. Despite everything she has endured, Kiara is incredibly resilient. She doesn’t complain. She doesn’t give up. She just keeps trying to be a dog. Because of the complexity of her injury, several rescues have declined to take her on. But she deserves a chance — not just to survive, but to live comfortably and safely without chronic pain. She will be evaluated again next week to determine the best path forward. If amputation is recommended as the option that gives her the greatest quality of life, we will move forward and raise the funds needed to give her that chance. Kiara did not choose what happened to her. But we can choose what happens next. Stay tuned as we advocate for this brave girl and work to give her the pain-free future she deserves.
