Before rescue, Rex knew instability and what it felt like to be failed by the people who were supposed to keep him safe. At one point, he was even shot in the leg. And yet, through all of it — the confusion, the fear, the pain — Rex never stopped choosing love. He ended up on the euthanasia list through no fault of his own, simply because there was no space. That moment could have been the end of his story, but instead, it became a turning point — because Rex is now safe, and deeply loved in his foster home. And who Rex is, at his core, has never changed. He still runs toward people. He still presses his big head into your chest like he’s been waiting his whole life to belong. He is deeply people-oriented, loyal in a way that feels almost sacred. Once he bonds, he bonds hard. Rex is a medium-to-high energy, ball-chasing, toy-hoarding goofball who lives for fetch and playtime. Toss a ball and you’ll see pure joy come alive in him. He plays beautifully with his foster siblings, does well with cats, and thrives when he’s part of the action. He is silly, bouncy, and full of life. But at the end of the day, this big athletic boy turns into a full-on cuddle bug — leaning his whole weight into you, melting into ear scratches, and looking up at you like he’s still learning that this kind of love is real. He is incredibly smart and thrives on engagement. He loves food puzzles, enjoys training sessions, and is learning new skills every day, including crate training. He lights up with positive reinforcement and takes pride in getting things right. He wants guidance, connection, and a person he can make proud. Rex needs someone who sees his past not as baggage, but as proof of his resilience. Someone active enough to match his playful spirit, and steady enough to continue building his confidence. In return, he will give you everything he has — loyalty, joy, companionship, and a bond that runs deep. Rex has already proven who he is. Now he’s just waiting for someone to choose him back. And this time, he deserves forever. Rex is estimated to be 4 years old, neutered, vaccinated, and fully vetted. Manchas is a 2 1/2 year old purebred Belgian Malanois. He is a sweet and cuddly big guy who thinks he is still a baby. He is very reactive with strangers but, he grew up with a cat and another dog, however I don’t know how he will be with other animals. He is a very smart dog who has ALOT of energy. He has gone through 2 training programs and knows plenty of commands. Unfortunately our landlord has prohibited dogs of his breed and we want to make sure he goes to a loving home where he can have plenty of activity and care. This breed requires time and attention due to their very active nature. With lots of patience and training can be an amazing dog. We need someone who is willing to put the effort to make Manchas a better dog
