Story
Ginger came to us in September 2021 at almost 5 months of age from Garland Animal Services. They said she was German Shepherd because of her coloring and markings, but her short coat and smaller build do not reflect that. Her ears were â&#194&#128&#194&#156windblownâ&#194&#128&#194&#157 as the vet termed it, but frequently they would both fall inward on top of her head, looking like a bandana. For the most part her ears do stand up straight now, but occasionally when she is staring pensively out the window, they will lapse back into the bandana. Ginger has a good appetite, healthy, strong, weighs about 72 lbs. During the warm months, she is bothered by seasonal skin allergies. Ginger is microchipped, spayed and vaccinations are up to date. She does have lots of energy, especially in the morning and loves to run in the backyard. Occasionally she will even stand up on her hind legs like a Ninja, in an effort to see over the fence. In the house, Ginger will be your constant companion, almost always quiet, unless she senses someone outside. She is completely housebroken and well behaved in house, never destructive. She loves to be brushed and petted, very affectionate. She is crate trained and this is where she sleeps in the evening. The only children she has been around are our two grandsons, ages 5 and 8. They love her, she loves them. They are all excitable around each other so I watch them closely. Ginger can be selective about the dogs she meets and would advise monitoring of new introductions, but generally gets along with most dogs. Cats, however, are a no no. Ginger is a smart girl, knows basic commands of sit, down and will hand you her paw if requested. She is partially leashed trained, but, unfortunately, due to our physical limitations in the last couple of years, we have not worked on further training. This is the reason we are wanting to re-home her so that she can enjoy life to the fullest. If you are looking to adopt an elegant, beautiful dog, Ginger is your girl. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * If you have a specific question about Ginger, then please email newdigs@dallaspetsalive.org. Story
Meet Juniper! She is an approximately six-year-old, 70+ pound Belgian Malinois/Shepherd mix. We adopted her in 2019 from Dallas Animal Services and were immediately drawn to her goofy smile and personality. She is full of energy (doggy parkour anyone?!) but loves nothing more than cuddling up with the people she loves on the couch for a long day of snuggles. She has no history of health problems (though she has been known to fake an injury or two when she isn't getting enough attention), and she is up to date with all medical care (vaccines, microchipping, check-ups, etc.). Juniper is incredibly playful and energetic. Her favorite game is chasing tennis balls around the house, and she adores chewing up toys until they are completely demolished. She needs a big backyard that she can run and play in, and she can never resist chasing squirrels and barking at birds. Her biggest nemesis is the mailman and the UPS man. She has a strong bark and takes protecting her house very seriously. Juniper is good with children and other animals, however, we believe that she would flourish in a household where all of the extra attention could be focused on her. She does have destructive tendencies when left home alone and not given proper exercise or attention beforehand (pillows beware), but she has undergone significant training and knows her basic commands. She is also leash reactive which can make walks challenging. Juniper is housebroken, however, she is not crate-trained. She gets nervous in a crate and does better with being out of the crate when you leave the house. Currently, Juniper lives with one other (older dog) who can't keep up with her playfulness, which has caused increasing tension between the dogs. Additionally, with her human family expanding, she has gotten less attention over the past year and is no longer thriving in her home situation. She is being rehomed in the hopes that she finds a family with the time to give her all of the attention and love that she deserves. Juniper has the sweetest heart of any dog we have ever known, and combined with her goofy, energetic personality, she is a wonderful dog. We hope to find her a family who loves her for exactly who she is and cherishes and appreciates the silly qualities that make her so special. Apply to adopt Juniper today! * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * If you have a specific question about Juniper, then please email newdigs@dallaspetsalive.org.
