Story
Meet Juniper! A spirited six-and-a-half-year-old Belgian Malinois/Shepherd mix currently living in Richardson, TX, whose essence is a joyful whirlwind of energy wrapped in a tan coat with white and black accents. Also known as June Bug or Junie B. Jones, Juniper is equal parts cuddle queen and squirrel-chasing athlete! Her heart is as big as her bark, whether she’s gently checking on the kids in the house like a protective big sister or sounding the alarm when the mailman dares approach her kingdom, Juniper takes her guardian role seriously. She’s a ball-chasing, toy-destroying, high-energy companion who loves her routines, especially mealtimes (don’t worry, she’ll let you know if you're running late). Juniper is house-trained, fully vaccinated, microchipped, and spayed. She also knows all the classics like sit, stay, down, heel, come, and gentle. She’s a natural at doggy parkour, zooming around the yard with the grace of a canine gymnast, and then crashing on the couch for a well-earned snuggle session. While Juniper absolutely thrives on love and companionship, she shines brightest as the only pet in a calm, stable home. In her current household, she’s experienced some tension with the resident dog, but during a recent six-week period as a solo pup, she blossomed! Relaxed, content, and completely in her element. When left alone with the other dog, Juniper has shown some signs of separation anxiety, but when she’s the only pet, she settles beautifully and can spend time alone with ease, enjoying her day until her people return. She’s also reactive on a leash when she sees other dogs or fast-moving critters like squirrels, so she’ll benefit from continued positive reinforcement training and a confident pet parent to help guide her on walks. She’s shy around other dogs and hasn’t spent much time with cats, so a pet-free environment would help her shine her brightest. Her ideal home includes a fenced yard for daily play and space to explore her inner squirrel detective. She’s wonderful with children and has a nurturing, “mother hen” nature. If someone’s upset, Juniper will be the first one to check in, tail wagging and ready to comfort! Great news for potential adopters, Juniper’s adoption fee has been sponsored by the family! They’re also open to fostering options and willing to drive to meet any potential adopters. If you're looking for a loyal, loving companion who’s as happy chasing tennis balls as she is curled up at your feet, Juniper might just be the perfect fit! Could your home be the next chapter in this playful pup’s story? To learn more or meet Juniper, reach out to adopt@joyfulpets.com!

Story
Meet our energetic, shy, loving, sweet, people pleaser, Apple Jack. She is a 1.5 years old, 58 lb, Belgian Mallinois-Shepherd mix, with a growing physic, chocolate-brown shiny coat and a sweet disposition. Apple Jack was a rescue in a shelter who we couldn't say no to because she was only 19 lbs, very thin, and very shy when we saw her. We took her home and pampered her until she trusted us enough to eat healthy foods and gain a healthy weight where she is now. She is strong and her biggest attribute is that she a job seeker. She wants you to give her something to do. Apple Jack would love an active lifestyle as she just bubbles with a playful but loving spirit. She is a pup who loves to romp and play with other dogs and currently likes to play with our older 8 year old golden retriever-shepherd mix. She loves being around other dogs at daycare as well. She is not aggressive to other animals but would do better without a cat environment because she tends to want to play with them as well. If given the chance she would love to go with other dogs and run and play with sticks. She currently lives with 4 adults and occasionally will play with our 11 year old grandson. Her ideal home would be one where she could continue her training of tricks and have an active family lifestyle. Apple Jack is doing well with her crate training and just needs a little more attention during the day to play. She is one smart pup and just needs to know she is loved by her new forever home. Apple Jack is deserving a loving, kind, patient furever family home. Through no fault of Apple Jacks we are unable to continue to foster her as we are about to add a little baby to our home and cannot dedicate the time she needs for her activity and continued training. She deserves a loving home as she is so sweet and has a very strong desire to do a good job and please you. Could you be the perfect family for her? Please apply to adopt this sweet baby. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * If you have a specific question about Apple Jack, then please email newdigs@dallaspetsalive.org. Story
Meet Bella! A gentle almost eight-year-old German Shepherd currently in Thornton, CO, whose heart is as big as her 110-pound frame and just as full of love. With her striking black and tan coat and calm, watchful eyes, Bella is a loyal companion who prefers the quiet comfort of your company over the hustle and bustle of an active household. Bella is the queen of chill! Her favorite pastime? Lounging peacefully near her favorite person with her beloved ball within reach. She's the kind of dog who doesn’t need a marathon of activity to be happy, just a little playtime, lots of affection, and her nightly treat (bonus points if it’s a dental bone)! She's perfectly content being your shadow, quietly following you from room to room like your biggest (and furriest) fan. Spayed, vaccinated, and house-trained, Bella brings the ease of a well-mannered adult dog. She's attended doggy day camp and does well around other dogs, though she's not particularly interested in making new canine friends. She’s more about humans, especially the ones who know how to dole out love and snacks! While she hasn't lived with cats, she has shown a strong interest in chasing them during walks, so she would thrive in a cat-free home. Bella knows most basic commands and handles short times alone with no fuss. She doesn't need a strict routine, but she does expect her nightly treats (it’s a non-negotiable in her book). With no known health concerns or special needs, Bella is a low-maintenance sweetheart whose idea of joy is curling up beside you and making your home feel fuller, cozier, and warmer. She may not be the life of the party, but Bella will be the steady, loving soul who’s always there with a soft nudge, a watchful gaze, and a tail wag just for you. Story
Meet Freya! A bright and loyal one-year-old German Shepherd mix currently in Baytown, TX, whose essence is a gentle blend of playfulness, devotion, and a touch of sweet shyness wrapped in a tan coat with black accents. At 55 pounds of pure affection and curiosity, Freya is a young explorer who’s already mastered house training and confidently uses a doggy door like a seasoned pro. She thrives with structure and routine, morning walks and early evening naps are totally her thing! While she may start off a bit shy, it doesn’t take long for her to warm up, and once she does, you’ll have a devoted sidekick who wants nothing more than to be close to you, whether you're lounging on the couch or heading out for an adventure. Freya is wonderfully friendly with everyone she meets. People, other dogs, and even cats she encounters on walks! Her calm, gentle energy helps her win hearts wherever she goes. She’s also crate trained, microchipped, spayed, and up to date on all her vaccinations, making her more than ready to step into her new loving home. Playtime is her love language, especially when there’s a rope toy involved! She’s also a big fan of exploring the outdoors and would be perfectly compatible with a family that enjoys staying active. A fenced yard and children aged eight and up would make her tail wag with joy! Loud, sudden noises can startle her, but with reassurance and a calm environment, she bounces back quickly. Freya knows several commands like “stay,” “look,” “see,” and “stop,” and she’s eager to keep learning with positive reinforcement and consistency. She's the kind of companion who will gently press against your leg while you’re reading or trot happily beside you on a trail, always nearby, always loyal! She’s ready to bring laughter, snuggles, and loyal friendship to her next family, will it be yours? To learn more about adopting Freya, please reach out to adopt@joyfulpets.com!
