Puppies adopted under the age of five months require a spay/neuter contract, and all dogs are required to be spayed by six months unless otherwise medically noted. Our dogs are currently on heartworm preventative. Puppies receive 3 to 4 rounds of vaccinations depending on their age, and adults receive two rounds unless they've been with us longer than a year, in which case they receive the booster update. Meet BowIe! Bowie is a 46 pound, 5 years old, sweet, loving shepherd mix (yes, we have a DNA test!) who is ready for her forever home. She is very friendly and loves being around her humans. Bowie would do best as the only dog in the home so she can have all the attention to herself and can be dog selective. She would do best in a home with no cats and has not been small child tested. Bowie was found dumped on the side of a country road in a rural area, left to fend for herself. She ran right up to a hunter for pets and followed him around the rest of the day. She is such an affectionate dog. As he drove away, he could see her in his rearview mirror slowly trying to follow his truck down the road. He could not stop thinking about her big brown eyes that seemed to look right into his soul. That is when he contacted a volunteer with DSDA and started the process to get her rescued. She is petite making her a great size for many homes. Bowie loves treats and dog toys, and she already knows how to sit on command and is leash and house trained. She enjoys relaxing in the backyard, especially if it includes belly rubs. She is very chill and happy to cuddle up with you on a recliner for a good movie. Bowie is spayed and has recently completed heartworm treatment. She is ready to move forward with a healthy, happy life in her new home. Bowie also likes to chase squirrels, so a secure yard would be a plus. DSDA is very careful to place our dogs in homes that we believe are the best fit for the dog based on our experience with each dog. All of our dogs live in foster homes which allows us the opportunity to learn about their individual needs. Must be home more than not. Vet checks are required! Roxie was a rescue dog who had been with me for about 6 years. When it was just the two of us she was great, no problems, but since moving in to a full household with 2 young children and another dog, she has become very anxious and insecure. I am working 2 jobs now and don't have the time to spend with her. She was abused before I got her and still is very skittish. She gets along with females better than males as far as people. She's nipped at some men but had never bitten anyone. She leaves the babies alone. She really needs a calm, caring small home where she can have the attention that I can't give to her anymore. She is constantly hiding in the bathtub or under the bed or anywhere she can fit. She is afraid of everything. She loves to run and will bark at other dogs, but she isn't sure how to play with them. She's a sweet girl who needs a lot of attention and patience.

Hi! My name is SHA! I'm a big girl at 150lbs and I'm only just turned 3 years old! I have a lot of energy and I'm looking for a family that will take me on long walks or won't mind playing in the yard for a nice long session. I REALLY love being with my people, sometimes I get lonely or sad if they are gone for too long. I like other animals but I need to see if they like me and also give me time to adjust. In a few months, I’ll be leaving for the Air Force, and because of that, I need to find a new home for my dog. I’ve had her since I was 18, and she’s now 13 years old.
