Story
Nala is a beautiful 2-year-old, 60 lb Great Pyrenees / Belgian Shepherd / Dutch Shepherd mix with an intelligent, expressive presence and a loving personality to match. She is incredibly people-oriented and happiest when she’s close to her humans—she’ll gladly follow you from room to room just to be near you. Nala can be slightly shy when first meeting new people but warms up quickly into a friendly, affectionate companion. She is also a parvo survivor from puppyhood, making her a resilient and strong girl with a story that speaks to her strength. Nala is spayed and fully up to date on all vaccinations. Nala has a medium-high energy level and thrives in an active home. She loves swimming (on her terms!), hiking, playing chase with other dogs, and enjoying her favorite chew bones (stuffed toys don’t usually last long!). She also has a great off-switch and is happy to relax and nap on the couch—she’s even a little slow to start her mornings. Nala is excellent with children and has spent significant time around kids ages 1â€Âׅ. She does very well with female dogs, puppies, and smaller dogs, and she enjoys social environments like the dog park where she has consistently done well without issues. Her compatibility with cats is unknown. Nala would do best in a home with a yard and an active lifestyle, ideally with someone who is home more often, as she enjoys companionship. Nala is house-trained, crate-trained (she may not love it but settles well when needed), and has excellent leash manners thanks to professional training. She knows commands including sit, lay down, stay, shake, leave it, and recall, and she is highly intelligent and eager to please. Like many young, active dogs, she may get into items if left unattended, though this has improved with age. She can be vocal and naturally protective, and while she may jump when excited, she responds well to direction and settles when asked. Nala has never shown any biting or nipping behavior. Nala is being rehomed due to a specific compatibility issue with one dog in the home. She has otherwise done well with other dogs in both her household and social settings. Nala is fun-loving, devoted, and full of personality. She will make an incredible companion for the right home that can provide structure, activity, and love. Apply to adopt Nala today! Story
Meet a sweet, laid-back doggo looking for a new loving home! Walt was originally adopted from Austin Pets Alive! and has been a cherished member of the family. With the recent arrival of a newborn, our family is no longer able to give this pup the time and attention he deserves. Walt is up to date on all his vaccines, he is neutered and microchipped. Walt is fully house-trained, crate trained, well-mannered, and incredibly easygoing. He has a calm personality and is perfectly content lounging around most of the day—honestly, he sometimes acts more like a cat than a dog! Whether it’s napping in a cozy spot or quietly keeping you company, he is happiest just being near their people. Walt does experience typical Texas seasonal allergies. It is unknown how Walt behaves around Cats, we have taken Walt to the dog park many times and he runs with the big dogs! We are unsure how he reacts with small dogs. So far he has been curious but a little timid with the newborn and have not had him around any other small children but he has been super happy to meet all our adult guests! If you’re looking for a low-maintenance, affectionate companion, this sweet dog could be the perfect match. Walt also knows how to sit and hand shake on command (with treats). He will also stay right by your side when walking (if you have treats). Apply to adopt Walt today! This pet is participating in the Dallas Pets Alive rehoming program. Story
Her father is Louisiana Catahoula and her mother is Belgian Malinois, two of the most loyal and intelligent breeds. She is an 11 week old puppy and full of energy and love. She is not fully potty trained because she's too young to completely hold it for too long, but she will go on puppy pads if she can't get outside and is off to a good start in potty training. I have to move and I can't keep her so I'm looking for someone who wants a wonderful loving companion and will have the time and energy to play with her and walk her daily. Both her breeds are extremely trainable, great hunting and herding dogs and the Belgian Malinois is the main breed employed by law enforcement. She will be an excellent guard dog.

Story
Meet BowIe! Bowie is a 46 pound, 5 years old, sweet, loving shepherd mix (yes, we have a DNA test!) who is ready for her forever home. She is very friendly and loves being around her humans. Bowie would do best as the only dog in the home so she can have all the attention to herself and can be dog selective. She would do best in a home with no cats and has not been small child tested.  Bowie was found dumped on the side of a country road in a rural area, left to fend for herself. She ran right up to a hunter for pets and followed him around the rest of the day. She is such an affectionate dog. As he drove away, he could see her in his rearview mirror slowly trying to follow his truck down the road. He could not stop thinking about her big brown eyes that seemed to look right into his soul. That is when he contacted a volunteer with DSDA and started the process to get her rescued. She is petite making her a great size for many homes. Bowie loves treats and dog toys, and she already knows how to sit on command and is leash and house trained. She enjoys relaxing in the backyard, especially if it includes belly rubs. She is very chill and happy to cuddle up with you on a recliner for a good movie. Bowie is spayed and has recently completed heartworm treatment. She is ready to move forward with a healthy, happy life in her new home. Bowie also likes to chase squirrels, so a secure yard would be a plus. If you’re looking for a loyal, calm companion who loves people and enjoys the simple things, Bowie could be the perfect match for you. To meet Bowie in person visit us at www.dsda.org/adopt and submit our online adoption application.  ADOPTION FEE Covers: Core vaccines plus Lepto and Flu, all boosters, microchip, dewormer until clear fecal test & spay or neuter when completed by a DSDA vet partner plus any necessary medical care.  All dogs are on flea, tick and heartworm prevention and you receive the following month's preventatives complementary with your adoption!  * Adoption Fees: Puppies (12 months and under) - $325  Dogs (over 12 months) - $275  Qualifications for Adoption:  No dog is alike and each dog has different requirements based on breed, age, energy level and life experiences. DSDA is very careful to place our dogs in homes that we believe are the best fit for the dog based on our experience with each dog. All of our dogs live in foster homes which allows us the opportunity to learn about their individual needs.  Must be home more than not. Vet checks are required! All resident pets in the applicant's home MUST be spayed or neutered, core vaccines up to date and dogs on heartworm prevention to be considered! No exceptions.  Must be 21 years or older with identification showing present address. Must have the knowledge and consent of all adults living in the household. Must receive proof of pet deposit and lease allowing pets if renting. Willingness and capacity to spend the time and money necessary to provide training, medical treatment and responsible care for a pet. Must have a secure fence if in a house. All poisonous plants must be removed from the yard.  DSDA is located in Dallas and requires a home visit on every adoption so only adopt to Dallas and surrounding areas. ##2599671##

Story
Mochi is a 2-year-old German Shepherd mix weighing approximately 80 pounds of loyalty, affection, and thoughtful charm. He’s a wonderful balance of active adventure buddy and relaxed couch companion, happy to join you for a walk, hike, or outing and just as content settling in at home afterward.   Mochi has a sweet, steady temperament and truly loves people. He bonds deeply with his humans and thrives on connection, attention, and shared routines. He does well with kids and enjoys being part of a household where he can feel included and valued.   He has completed professional board-and-train, where he learned important household manners and structure. One of his biggest accomplishments has been learning to feel calm and secure in a crate, which he now views as a safe and comfortable space. This foundation helps him transition smoothly into home life and makes him an easier companion to live with.   Mochi is fully house-trained and well-mannered in the home. He is eager to please, enjoys having a job or task to focus on, and responds well to clear expectations and consistency. His intelligence and desire to work with his person make him both rewarding and fun to train and live with.   His story began when he was found living on an uncleared lot in Old East Dallas. Thanks to the care and commitment of his foster family, Mochi has made a full transformation from a street dog into a loving, affectionate companion who enjoys the comforts of home life.   One of Mochi’s endearing quirks is his love for string cheese, which earned him the nickname “Mocheezy.”   Important to know: Mochi would do best in a single-pet home. He prefers space from other dogs when out and about, and can be strong on leash if he notices them. Mochi is happiest when he can focus on his person and form a close, one-on-one bond.   If you’re looking for a devoted companion who is affectionate, intelligent, and ready to be a true partner in life, Mochi is eager to find his forever home. Age: 2 years Weight: 82 lbs Good with dogs: Prefers to be the only dog Good with cats: No Good with kids: Yes Activity level: Active Vocal level: Low Training: Professionally Trained May 27, 2026, 12:17 am

Story
Meet Tony, a pup with a big personality and lots of love to give. He showed up in his foster’s front yard one day while they were outside washing the car. Tony is adventurous, playful, and full of energy. He loves long walks, playing fetch, splashing in the water, and riding in the car. He’s treat-motivated, walks well on a leash, and is eager to keep learning with consistency. He does best in a calm environment with people he knows and trusts. Tony is great with kids and can play with other dogs, but he’s still learning boundaries and prefers less overstimulation. If you’re looking for a fun, loyal companion to keep up with your adventures, Tony’s your guy. All Dallas Pets Alive adoptable pets are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines upon adoption.
