Meet Miss Lola, a young spayed Bichon mix weighing about 15 lbs. This sweet, curious girl has puppy energy, loves being involved with her people, and enjoys playtime and companionship. She is currently NOT in our care and is at the Santa Cruz SPCA.Lola is friendly with new people, does well with small dogs, and may adjust to larger dogs with proper introductions. She may also do okay with dog-savvy cats. She thrives in a structured, calm environment with clear routines and guidance.Lola has a history of resource guarding, including a past bite related to guarding an item. In the shelter, she has shown that with structure, boundaries, and thoughtful handling, she does very well. This is Benny. He is a 4 year old Bichon. He is a bit standoffish with strangers at first, but once he knows you are a friend he warms up. He bonds closely with his person. He likes to go for walks, and has been a good boy at the rescue. He likes his sweater. It gives him a sense of security. He came to us due to domestic violence in the home. We have changed his name in this post as to not cause any upset for his previous family.

Meet Charlie 💙 This is incredibly hard for us to write, but we are hoping to find the perfect home for our sweet dog, Charlie. Charlie is a well-behaved, very friendly, and incredibly loving dog. He adores people, enjoys companionship, and has the kindest, gentlest soul. He has been a wonderful part of our family. As much as we love him, we have a one-year-old at home and two very busy parents, and we’re heartbroken to admit that we can’t give Charlie the time and attention he truly deserves. Our goal is to find him a family who can. Charlie is diabetic and does very well with his care routine. He receives insulin twice a day, which he handles calmly and reliably. He also has decreased vision, but he is not blind and gets around comfortably in familiar spaces. He is up-to-date on all vaccinations and currently has pet insurance. This is not a decision made lightly. We are deeply sad to be parting ways with Charlie.

Weighing 13 pounds, Slinky fits easily into everyday life and loves being included in whatever his people are doing. He is friendly with everyone he meets, great with small children, and gets along well with other dogs, though he would also be perfectly content as a solo pup. Slinky has a medium energy level and enjoys walks, car rides, playing fetch, and enthusiastically emptying the toy bin, but he is not overly hyper and settles nicely. He is potty trained, crate trained, leash trained, and currently learning basic commands. Food motivated and curious, Slinky is a quick learner who enjoys attention and staying nearby, even if he is not overly snuggly all the time. He does well when left alone occasionally, has no separation anxiety, and is not destructive. I am timid but sweet once I get to know you, I am very shy. I live with other dogs at the rescue, so I am ok with dogs, again it takes me some time to trust. I have been with rescue a long time because I suffer from some type of doggie vertigo and get car sick really easy, I always have since I was a puppy, so its hard for most families who enjoy taking their pup traveling. Its better now than it was when I was little but I still am nervous in the car. I need a loving patient family to open their hearts and home to allow me time to get to know you... Could that be you?? I was rescued from Lancaster, our humans didn't want us babies and gave us away and kept my Mama (Chihuahua) and Daddy (Maltese). I had siblings but they gave them away to other people instead of the rescue...
