About Me: Name: Judy Moody Breed (or best guess): Bichon (or mix) Approximate Age: 6-7 years Gender: Female Approximate Weight: 18 lb Adoption Fee: $450 Requirements: Patient adopter, fenced yard, another dog preferred Why In Rescue: Breeder Surrender Profile:  Judy Moody came with a number of her friends from a breeder that was going to stop using them for breeding (and hopefully out of breeding completely).  Judy is shy/timid, but getting more comfortable to people and will come up to get a treat or a little attention especially through the kennel fence.  She is still a little nervous about being picked up.  At the shelter she will follow the caretaker to go outside.  She does not walk on a leash yet, so will need a securely fenced yard so she can safely go outside.  Please read the information about puppy mill survivors before you apply to adopt Judy, as we want the adoption to be a success for her as well as her adopter.  We don't know if she ever lived in a house, so will likely need work with housetraining. Judy came from a commercial breeder/puppy farmer who was no longer going to use her for breeding.  Dogs from commercial breeders are generally undersocialized (often very scared/shy/skittish) and probably never lived in a house.  They will need to learn things like how to walk on a leash, go up stairs, and what things like a television are.  They need a patient adopter who will give them the time they need to adjust and to learn to trust people.  Every baby step forward needs to be celebrated, and the dog needs to be accepted for who they are at each step.  Some dogs can adjust quickly and learn how to be a loved pet pretty easily.  Others can take a long time to even be comfortable with things like walking through the house and being in the same room as a person.  No matter how far and how fast the breeder dogs progress, they are wonderful dogs and deserve a great home after their life on the puppy farm.  A fence or at least a secure fenced in potty area is highly recommended for the dog's safety, and may be required for some dogs.  Another small dog in the house can also help many former breeders adjust faster to life in a home, and also may be required in some cases.  We do put the needs of the dog's first, so it is nothing personal if we determine a particular dog isn't suitable for your specific home and living situation. If considering adopting a former breeding dog, the following article is good to read to help you understand the special needs these dogs may have.  http://nowisconsinpuppymills.com/mill-survivors.html If interested in adoption, the first step is filling out the pre-adoption application at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog  If link isn't clickable, please copy/paste or visit http://www.bichonrescues.com.  Please note, filling out inquiry forms on Petfinder or Adoptapet and/or their application forms does not constitute an application for one of our dogs.  Priority in responding to inquires and applications is always to the applications filled out on our website, time constraints limit the number of other inquires we can reply to. We do our best to evaluate the dogs while they are with us, but they sometimes act different in the shelter environment than they do in a home.  Many times we do not know the actual breed/mix or age of the dog, in that case we use our best guess as to breed and age.   We are located in Mukwonago, WI.  Adopters must come to us, we do not ship our dogs.  Please do not apply for a dog until you are ready to adopt.  Once an application is approved you will be notified by email to make an appointment to meet the dog.  All dogs are seen by appointment only. The adoption fee through Bichon and Little Buddies Rescue is $200 - $550 depending on the age of the dog, which includes Wi State Sales Tax.  Included in this fee is your new companion who will be spayed/neutered, have a current Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (as required by state law), current on age appropriate vaccinations, heartworm tested (if old enough) and started on preventative, microchipped, and given a general wormer.  Other medical needs will also have been taken care of, such as dentals and treating ear infections.  To assist you and your new pet in adjusting to life together, you may chose to take an 8 week age appropriate obedience training course at For Pet's Sake Dog Training in Mukwonago, WI for $75 (up to $230 value).  You may opt to take Puppy Kindergarten, Adult Beginners, or Small Dogs Big Hearts.  You must register for the class within 90 days of adoption for the reduced fee.  For more information on the classes visit www.forpetssake.cc  More important information: ***We are a Wisconsin based rescue and do not ship our pets.  If you are considering adoption you must be willing to drive to meet and adopt the pet, as well as bring the pet back to us if the adoption doesn't work.  We adopt primarily in WI and IL, but will consider applicants in MN, IA, and MI.*** ***Please do not set up an appointment to meet the animals until you are ready to take your pet home.  If the meeting results in a match, you can often take the dog/cat home the same day or within a couple days if the medical care hasn't been completed.  We are not able to hold pets for adopters beyond this time.  Thanks for understanding.*** ***While we hope all of our adoptions lead to permanent homes for the animals we place, sometimes things just don't work out.  We do have a 30 day trial period.  For the first 30 days, if you or Bichon and Little Buddies decide that the adoption isn't a good match for either the humans or the pet, the adoption fee will be refunded minus $75 within 30 days of the return of the dog.  Bichon and Little Buddies also requires adopters to return the pet to us at any time that they are unable or unwilling to care for the animal anymore.*** ***We do not show dogs without an appointment.  The first step in adoption is filling out the pre-adoption application at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog  Please do not call/email until AFTER you have filled out an application.*** Bichon and Little Buddies is a State Licensed Rescue # 268555-DS March 2, 2024, 6:39 pm

About Me: Name: Amelia and Bedelia Breed (or best guess): Bichon Mix Approximate Age: 6 yr Gender: Female Approximate Weight:  Adoption Fee: $800 for the pair Requirements: Fenced yard, patient adopter Why In Rescue: surrendered breeding dogs Profile:  Amelia and Bedelia are best friends who love to cuddle and groom each other.  They came to us with a number of other dogs from the same facility.  Amelia had a scratched eye that has now healed and is all fine now.  Bedelia had a severe head tilt, which we discovered was due to a bad ear infection.  After weeks of treatment, she is much better and ready to be adopted.  Like most retired breeding dogs, these girls are shy and are now learning to trust people.  They haven't worked on leash walking yet, but we either pick them up to take them out to the fenced area, or allow them to follow us out.  Another small social dog in the home may help the girls figure out housetraining faster, but we won't require another dog in the home because they have each other.  Please review the information on puppy mill dogs before applying to adopt Amelia and Bedelia, as they will require a person with extra patience to allow them to flourish in their new home. Amelia and Bedelia came from a commercial breeder/puppy farmer who was no longer going to use them for breeding. Story
Hi,I'm Thumper and I am looking for my forever home. Let me tell you a little about myself.I am great with other dogs. I currently live in a foster home where there are five of us. There are no cats here though, so I'm not sure what those are or if I would like them. I walk well on the leash. I would do great in a home with a fenced in yard, although that's not a requirement. I am working hard on my housebreaking, but still have accidents occasionally. In my foster home I'm really not left unattended for more than a few hours at a time, but when they do go out we am kept in an area with a gate, just in case one of those accidents happen. I am not crate trained. Although I have not had a lot of experience with playing with toys in my past life, I am learning to enjoy them now. I'm even starting to learn how to play fetch. It's a work in progress. I do great on car rides. Don't mind those at all. my energy level is low to mid-level. I'm pretty chill. I have not had a lot of experience with kids or chaotic situations, so I would do best in a home that is not super busy.If you think that I could be a good fit for your home, and you'd like to meet me, please fill out an application and my foster mom will contact you.The adoption fee is $320 Email: dogs@almosthomefoundation.orgAlmost Home Foundation's adoption requirements:(1) Be at least 21 years of age;(2) Have the consent of all adults living in the household;(3) Have approval from the residence owner;(4) Have valid ID with current address;(5) Be approved by Almost Home Foundation as a suitable adoptive home; and(6) Live in the suburbs surrounding Schaumburg (Illinois Residents only)*** Please note that Almost Home Foundation accepts only cash or checks for adoption fees; we do not accept debit or credit cards. ***

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Clifford came to us when a rescue in Houston closed down.  He was listed as aggressive.  We have worked with him and identified his trigger...food (treats) and toys.  He doesn't like to share.  Clifford is looking for his new person. He has learned to trust people and just wants an older person or couple to call his own. He loves his toys.  If he brings them to you, he wants you to play.  If you try to take it away without his permission, you might get bit.  Clifford was born around 10/2012.  He weighs 20 pounds and his adoption fee is $200.  He is a challenge to groom but other than that he’s a doll. If you are interested in adopting him please go to our website www.adoggie4you.org to complete an application.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.March 2, 2024, 10:07 am
