Holly is a perfect example of why we promote 'adopt don't shop.' This former puppy mill breeder dog had one purpose in life. To have babies and make the greedy breeder money. She was not shown the love and compassion she deserved. Holly is slowly learning that people can be kind and loving. She needs a home with patient, understanding people who will give her time to adjust to being a family pet. Holly has amazing potential for the right household. She adores other dogs and would love at least one friendly canine sibling. Holly's home should also have a fenced yard. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Charlie, a 17-pound Bichon Frise with a heart full of love and an incredible story of resilience. Born around July 8, 2021, Charlie was tragically thrown over the fence onto our property late one freezing night, matted and terrified. Thankfully, a staff member of ours spotted him and ensured his safety.  Despite his rough start, Charlie has blossomed into an affectionate and gentle companion. He gets along wonderfully with other dogs, cats, and people, making him a fantastic fit for almost any home. Charlie’s sweet nature and resilience are sure to win your heart. Charlie’s adoption fee is $400, which includes his neuter, heartworm-negative test, up-to-date vaccines, and prevention (ProHeart and Bravecto). He’s currently located in Texas but is eligible for transport to Washington, Portland (Oregon), Minneapolis, Milwaukee, Chicago, Des Moines, Omaha, Cincinnati, Lexington (Kentucky), or anywhere along the East Coast. Please note there is an additional transport fee of $225, and we are unable to transport to Rhode Island or Massachusetts due to state regulations. Say hello to beautiful Opal! This sweet girl is about 9 years old. She’s a rescued puppy mill mama Bichon. Like so very many of these so-called breeder releases (i.e. no longer producing sellable puppies so no longer of any value to the business operators) she is extremely timid and unsure of life outside of a locked box. She does not trust humans - and I don`t blame her one little bit. After many months in her foster home, she has made progress, but that progress is always guarded and often accompanied by a swift return to where she was before the progress (she`s a one step forward, two steps back kind of gal). She watches my every move with curiosity/suspicion, lol. She likes to be near the me and the pack when I`m home but doesn`t necessarily want to cuddle in with us. She`s more of a `I`ll be over here watching you, but you can reach over and pet me if you want,` type of pup. She does get excited when I get home from work and will sometimes do zoomies in the yard with the big boys, but she doesn`t want me bursting her fun bubble by trying to get too close. I have built trust with her to the point where she wants to be by me, wants me to pet her, lets me do anything I need to do with her (besides go for a walk), but she is usually still nervous during it all. Heartwarming are the times when she is truly relaxed and enjoying some love from me - those times are slowly building in frequency. Love and patience are paying off. She must have a fenced-in yard at her new home as a leash isn’t an option for this sweetheart. She is going to need time and lots of patient, unconditional love and support to transition into a new life.
