Story
Please contact ADOPTION (adopt@doggieharmony.org) for more information about this pet.Rita is a happy-go-lucky gal who loves playing and snuggling up to her people. If no one is available for playtime, she is happy to entertain herself by throwing balls and toys up in the air and catching them. She's just the kind of dog that can always put you in a better mood!  Lucky gal Rita landed at animal control as a stray in the Fall. But by Winter a Good Samaritan plucked her out as a foster and put her through training to make her stand out from the crowd. While in training, she learned to temper her play with other dogs a bit, as she used to have a tendency to get over-stimulated and rowdy.  Over time, Rita has learned how to politely engage with other pups and to pick up on their cues when they're tired of playing. She is very eager to please and learn, so she looks forward to her very own person who can continue to show her the ropes of pet life. As far as love goes, it comes quite naturally to Miss Rita. She is always happy to greet you and lean into you for affection.   Age:  1-2 years Weight: 35 lbs Temperament: Very friendly with people; energetically playful with dogs Training: Housetrained, crate-trained and knows commands Vetting: Spay/neutered, up-to-date on vaccines, heartworm negative To ensure we're meeting both pet and adopters' needs, we ask potential adopters to complete an Adoption Application (www.bit.ly/DH-Adoption) for caretakers to review. Once your application is approved, we will bring the adoptable pet to your home for a preliminary visit. We are 100% donation-funded and our fees are equivalent to (or less than) the cost to fully vet a new dog yourself. Please expect an adoption fee of $300; some of our urgent or long-term dogs have discounted fees.June 2, 2023, 8:26 am

Story
Hey there Delilah, what’s it like in New York City?Just kidding, this sweet girl is in Atlanta at Lifeline Midtown! Come find her today at 981 Howell Mill Rd!Although she can take a little bit to warm up, Delilah is very playful once she opens up. She loved getting brushed, takes treats gently, and knows how to “sit” like a proper lady. Don’t let her shyness fool you, underneath her baby doll eyes is a very affectionate dog who loves to give kisses!Delilah is still adjusting to her new environment and could really use a loving home where she can grow her confidence and feel safe. She loves to crawl right next to you and would make a great cuddle buddy. She has also met other dogs very politely on leash at the shelter and might do well with other dogs at home or in the outside world! Come meet Delilah today or click on the “Adopt Me” button to submit an inquiry. It’s not a commitment to adopt, but an opportunity to learn more about this sweet girl!

Story
Lady Bird is a four-year-old, 55-pound lab mix that deserved better than she got. She lived with her owner inside the home for her first year, but someone with cats moved in, and Lady Bird began to chase and play with them. They bought a 10' x 10' kennel for the yard, and she has been there for the last three years. To make matters worse, she had no shelter other than a piece of blue tarp tied in the corner that didn't even block the rain, much less protect her from the cold, until a couple of months ago, the neighbor begged animal control to make them get a dog house for her. One of the neighbors decided they wanted to adopt her and took her to the vet, but when they found out she had heartworms, they no longer wanted her. The vet called us to see if we could help her. We thought we had a foster for her, but they fell through, so her big rescue turned into a small kennel at the vet, where she had been for two weeks. She is understandably nervous about all the scary new things, and we would love to find a quiet foster home where we can learn more about her and hopefully find a forever home. We promised her a better life when we took her in. Can someone step up to foster her so that we can find her a forever home? If you can help, please email info@atlantalabrescue.com. FROM THE FOSTER: The foster said Lady Bird is her "heart dog." She has fostered 34 dogs in the past year, and said that she "loves more" than any dog that she has had. She is also super smart, loves prancing in the backyard and sitting in the sun. During the day, while she is working, Lady Bird lies on the couch or at her feet and doesn't make a peep. She will tell you when she needs to go out, snores at night and walks well with a harness.  There is a home out there somewhere for Lady Bird and if not the foster said she would take her back to foster in a couple of weeks, if needed. If you would like to foster to adopt, please go to www.atlantalabrescue.com to fill out an application, or to foster, even just for a couple of weeks, please email us at info@atlantalabrescue.com ##1623128##
