DISCLOSURE: The adoptable pets in our program are still in the care and custody of owners who wish to re-home their pet. Owners have enlisted Rescue Well to provide marketing and screening of applicants as a service, free of charge. All fees and adoption conditions are determined by the owner. We advise that adopters do not send payment or deposits for pets prior to adopting.  ***** Ripley is 8yo, weighs 45lbs, is spayed, is microchipped, but is not up to date on her vaccines (guardian will update her vaccines prior to adoption).  Since the move, poor Ripley is living in the in-laws' basement and although she has a tv, is visited by in-laws occasionally, and visited by human dad after work, she's essentially alone about 20 hours per day, which is distressing to her guardians.  Ripley is good in the car, can 'sit' and 'stay', dislikes/fears fireworks, loud bang noises such as bb guns/gun shots, rain, water, and being left alone.  Ripley had a litter in the past and was wonderful with her puppies, but because of the other dog attack, she's aggressive toward larger and older dogs. Ripley's guardian explains why she has made the difficult decision to rehome her:  Through no fault of her own, Ripley needs a new home because her guardians fell on hard times.  They had to downsize to an apartment, cannot afford the pet deposit/additional monthly pet fee and vet care.  Additionally, since there are 2 small babies in the household and Ripley often plays rough, she doesn't know her own strength and could knock over and hurt the babies.  Finally, there are many dogs in the new neighborhood and since Ripley's bite incident, she is aggressive to larger or older dogs. BITE INCIDENT:  Approximately 4 years ago, Ripley bit another dog who breached her territory and cornered her; the bite broke the skin, animal control was not involved, and the other dog was treated and is fine.  Ripley's guardian explains:   "About 4 years ago, a larger dog came into our yard and cornered Ripley.  Ripley acted in fear and self defense and bit the other dog on the mouth.  Since this occurred Ripley is very aggressive to larger or older dogs.  Other dog was treated and is perfectly fine, we paid the vet bills and there was no ill will."   Ripley's guardian offers a brief medical history:  Seasonal allergies on Ripley's paws from the grass. Ripley's guardian states the following regarding children:  Although Ripley has lived with small children, her guardian doesn't recommend her living with small children, stating: "Ripley is currently residing with my in-laws in there basement until we can find her a new home.  We have brought our two daughters, (one is 17 months and the other 2 months) to visit her and socialize but we can't have the girls on the floor with her because she doesn't understand her own strength with playing   But when we're holding the babies, she does smother them with kisses and cuddles.  She loves them, just plays too rough.  She has been around kids around 4 and older and is perfectly great and sweet with them.  But she has intense zoomies where she can barrel through them so we steer them clear of her when she's running like that.  She also loves tug a war and she gets too into it and nips playfully when biting the toy and sometimes accidentally bites your finger and it hurts wayy to bad for a small child.  Even for an adult it hurts pretty bad." Ripley's guardian states the following regarding dogs:  Although Ripley has lived with dogs, her guardian doesn't recommend her living with dogs, stating: "She is very aggressive to other dogs, except puppies.  She has had a litter in the past and loves babies so she is good with them if introduced correctly.  We got a puppy about 3 years ago and she raised him and loved him like a baby.  But other older dogs, or other dogs outside of our home, she acts very aggressive and barks and has incredibly intense anxiety.  You better have her on a leash or a very strong grip on her because it will be bad." Ripley's guardian states the following regarding cats:   Although Ripley has lived with cats, her guardian doesn't recommend her living with dogs, stating: "Ripley has always been good with cats and has lived with two in the past.  But I say no to living with them because she hasn't been socialized with them in a couple years and it really depends on if the cat is okay with dogs." Ripley's guardian describes her as: Very active Barks alot Playful Friendly Fence Jumper Likes to be touched Affectionate Protective Always at your side Indoor dog Outdoor dog House-Trained Crate-Trained Likes men Likes women Separation anxiety Ripley's guardian describes her ideal future home:  "Fenced-in yard, experienced owner, no pets or small children. WHAT MY FOSTER SAYS ABOUT ME: While Bodie is a big, gentle boy, he still considers himself a lap dog. He loves his people and is very cuddly so if given the opportunity, he will jump into your lap for all the affection he can soak in. He enjoys playing with his foster dog sisters and did well meeting males while in the shelter. Bodie is also always up for a good game of fetch or a a leisurely sniffy walk. He loves playing with soft, stuffed, squeaky toys. Bodie is fully potty trained, indicating when he needs to go out, and crate trained though, he does initially whine. All in all, Bodie's what we like to call, a certified good boy! Bodie came us underweight and we are working on getting him back to a healthy weight. He has a strong appetite and needs to be fed separately from other dogs as he has shown some resource guarding tendencies. He currently seems to have an affinity for human food - whether an old habit from his former life or due to his current body condition - but breaking that habit is a work in progress. He may need slow introductions with some men (e.g., men with big bushy beards) as we've noticed at times he can exhibit some concern. However, Bodie is able to attend events without a problem and you may even see him fully relaxed, sprawled across the floor after he gets tired of standing around, eagerly awaiting his forever family! Bodie does have a strong prey drive and we suspect would do best in a home without cats. Given how treat motivated Bodie is, he looks forward to continuing to train to become the goodest boy he can be once he's settled into his new home. -------------- Laila's Legacy Animal Rescue does not guarantee that any dog is housebroken nor crate trained. Story
Ruby Hello World! My name is Ruby and I am truly a gem! I am one of a litter of seven whose mom died when we were a week old, and we were raised by bottle mom's. That was cool. All I had to do was whimper a little bit and food arrived! No grub hub charges or anything!! Anyhow, sadly, those days are long gone. I have been eating by myself for a couple of weeks now. I am in a foster house with my 2 brothers, and believe it or not, I am the quiet one. My brother Gunner thinks he is Marco Polo or something and is always off on an adventure of some kind. And my brother Grady is the one I usually hang out with. We can get into lots of fun things just around our big room we have to play in. We like to play with the big black dog, Alma, who lives with foster mom, and she is fun. Brody was looking for a place to drink from on her belly the other day and boy was she surprised! I bet she jumped a foot! But she still likes to play with us and lets us pull her tail. We also like to play with the white cat who lives with us. Foster mom says he thinks he is a dog, but we know he is a cat, because he doesn't smell the same as us. More "catty I think, but I never smelled a cat before. Anyhow, I am looking for a forever home. I am probably going to be a medium sized dog and am maybe a shepherd mix of some sort. Mom died before my eyes were open and I have no idea who dad was. My personality is sweet, and I love people! Will you give me my forever home? Local adoption fee is $250 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $500 (includes transport to your area - $50 Temporary Fuel Charge will be added)
