Meet calm, cuddly Dexter! He is incredibly gentle and patient — even when his seven-year-old human foster sister wants to rile him up and play. This sweet boy is house trained and crate trained.
Dexter’s confidence continues to grow as he gets used to city life. He can be slow to warm up to strangers and may do best in a single-family home rather than a large apartment building. He loves other dogs and enjoys playing with friends at the dog park. He usually has a few minutes of zoomies per day and spends the rest of the time snoozing or cuddling.

City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is a foster-based rescue in Washington, DC. We do not have a shelter. CDCK has a thorough adoption process to find the best possible fit for each of our dogs and cats (we do not operate under a first-come, first-served model).
Upon accepting a new cat or dog into the organization, we provide a basic vet visit that includes necessary vaccinations, disease screenings, deworming, microchips, and spay/neuter for dogs six months and older. We do not provide a comprehensive medical exam before adoption. As a result, sickness, injury, and disability may exist unbeknownst to CDCK. City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is not responsible for payment of any vet care, including known and unknown medical conditions once a cat or dog is adopted from us.
Dog specific: Rabies, DHPP, Lepto and Bordetella vaccines. They are tested for HW, Lyme, Ehrlichia, Anaplasmosis.
Most cats and dogs will have a house-training accident in the initial days in their new home and we cannot guarantee any pet is housebroken or crate trained.
