Rudy is 3 years old. He is sweet and loves cuddles. He will need a human that will give him time and a loving home. He is smart and learns fast. He really is a great companion. Please contact Paul Slebzak (pauls@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.sweet, sweet boy ISO forever! LEANDRO NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!! Name:  Leandro         Best Guess for Breed: Black mouth cur and shepherd mix    Best Guess for Age:  1 year 5 months as of July 2024        SEX:  Male    Approximate Weight: 60 lbs   Gets Along With:  Leandro lives with another dog in his Texas shelter foster home and is great with the dog and other dogs he meets! He hasn't been seen with kids or cats but can be tested   Currently Living at:  Texas shelter foster home; hoping to land a foster or forever home in the DC area!   Special adoption considerations:  Because Leandro spent so much of his young life in the shelter - over a year - he was pretty timid and scared when he arrived in his Texas shelter foster home. He has been making great strides, though! Right now, we think Leandro will do best in a home where he has opportunities to interact with other dogs - a home with a welcoming resident dog, doggie day care, doggie playdates, etc.  All about Leandro, from his Texas shelter foster: Leandro's shelter foster cannot believe he spent over a year in the shelter - he is just such a great dog, Unfortunately, the number of dogs in his far south Texas location massively dwarfs the number of available homes - and the only way Leandro can get a forever home is by getting to the DC area.   His shelter foster says he is still timid right now but incredibly sweet. He is very affectionate, coming over to his humans to ask for pets and under the chin rubs all the time. He loves the resident dog and isn't reactive towards all the other dogs he meets - on leash, neighbors' dogs, etc.   He loves treats, he LOVES all toys, and he loves lounging with his humans - he's pretty chill.   He has his own crate where he gets treats and food. He goes in willingly and likes hanging out there with the door open. The fosters haven't tried closing the door but don't anticipate issues. He is also doing great with potty training!   The foster emphasizes that he is a very, very, very good boy who wants to please - and who has the world's cutest face. He just wants humans to love and be loved by.   What do you say? Can you see Leandro by your side? Are you his ticket into a forever home? Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT:      The adoption fee for this dog is $460, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and spay/neuter. If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online   at   bit.ly/adoptaluckydog  .   Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption. ** I am currently being housed at our New York Avenue location. Come meet me at 1201 New York Avenue NE, every day from 12pm-7pm. Or visit humanerescuealliance.org/how-to-adopt to learn more. While up for adoption separately, Fresa and Charming would love a home together and are already thriving in each other's company. And only pay one fee!He may not be a prince, but he sure is Charming! Charming and his amazing mascara eyes plan to woo you with his happy waggy tail and soft ears. He is a young and fun fellow who enjoys yummy treats, squeaky toys and going for long, sniffy walks. He also enjoys romping with other playful dogs. He adores his pal Fresa and would love to be adopted together. His short-term foster parent reports he adjusted quickly to their home and has been a dream. He's easy going and medium energy. He's housetrained (but will need a refresher course in a new home of course.) and he uses his crate like the good boy that he is. He's quiet and good on leash. He needs slow introductions to new people as he can be bashful at times. But once settled, Charming will want to snuggle with you on the couch- it is so cute!Charming is the full package! Ready for some charming magic in your life? This darling dog is waiting for you!

Story
I'm in a FOSTER HOME! To meet me, email my foster parent at n.k.hughes15@gmail.com. Cowboy's foster parents report he's a sweet energetic young guy. He has some basic training under his belt (sit, down, stay, drop it) and is working on his crate training. He's potty trained and walks well on a leash. He loves to hop in the shower, play in the water, play fetch, or just run around with toys.Well, Howdy Y'all! Cowboy here and I'm riding into town and hopefully directly into your home and heart. I'm a ruggedly handsome pup with a flair for leaping with joy and having a good time! Yee-YA! But really, I was a lost buckaroo and am grateful some local folks found me. All the cowpokes here (now that would be the good workers at HRA) have said that I'm a silly, goofy, sweet dog and seems everyone likes to say, "I LOVE you!" a lot around here. So why don't you gallop on down to HRA and let's hitch her up! Let's ride off into the sunset together. Giddy up! Check out Cowboy's video! https://www.youtube.com/shorts/LFl2ccKTMeo

Story
Copy and paste this link to watch video of Ringo in action! https://youtube.com/shorts/pC24E6Duopw?si=nhtXw71joRpykgVB Meet Ringo, the 1 year old, 70 pound sweetheart with a unique personality. He was found as a stray earlier this year playing with kids at a park in north Texas. He loves giving everyone kisses and is just such an amazing dog! His energy level makes him an excellent companion for running, hiking, and long walks. Ringo is house trained and signals when he needs to go out! He's fully crate trained, relaxes in it during the day, and willingly goes in it at night. Ringo isn't destructive as long as he's entertained, has enrichment toys, crated when home alone, and exercised properly. He alerts his people by barking when people come by, but he doesn’t bark much. He is protective, constantly watching (not in any aggressive manner whatsoever). For example, when he was at the park with his foster’s son, the kid wanted to go play on the play set. While he was in Ringo’s eye view, that wasn’t good enough for him. He turned towards him and sat, fully alert, just watching him play.  He’d be great in a home with other big dogs (he’s mostly been around large female dogs aside from his foster fur sibling Tank & does great aside from bothering him since Tank is older & can't keep up with him during play for long) and children 8+ as he doesn’t realize his size and can knock smaller kids over by accident. He has been around cats and isn't interested in them at all, so he would do fine in a home with cats! He truly does love kids and would love to be a part of a family with some. He may bug an older dog by trying to “herd” them, so it’d be best that he has a younger dog friend if he has one in the home at all.  Ringo knows commands like Sit, Stay, No, and Release (when he’s allowed to start eating his food). When Ringo waits for you to say “release,” he will drool and his top lip will hang up on one side, so it looks like he has a snaggle tooth.. it’s so cute! He knows “get it,” so when his foster mom points at something and says that, he’ll pick it up - like a stuffed toy! He's a very curious, food motivated boy and needs mental stimulation. He has completed lots of puzzles, so he’s very smart. He walks great on leash. We’re still working on his attention while out & walking on a loose leash. He will just gently tug, but is very easily redirected when told “no.”  When Ringo encounters new things, such as the park he went to for his photo shoot, he just goes with the flow. There was a dog across the pond that was barking his head off at Ringo. While Ringo kept eyes on the dog, he didn’t react. He also saw geese walking around and didn’t mind them! If it were a squirrel though… that would have been another story, lol! Him and his foster fur sibling Tank chase squirrels in the backyard!  Ringo may not be a cuddler, but he loves rubbing his head against people he likes. Sometimes when he gives you a head rub, his shoulder follows along with his back and it turns into a whole body rub from Ringo. Another funny thing Ringo does is that he will walk in circles around his people. Also, when his foster mom is walking from room to room or anywhere, he’ll walk in front of her and try to guide her with his body, lol! When he was at the park for his photoshoot, he wanted to herd his human foster brother so badly! He will try to guide with his body and tail in whichever direction he wants you to go into! He’s the funniest boy! He also likes to lay on the opposite end of the couch and observe everything / see what’s going on.  While he doesn't require another dog at home, he does need a fenced yard or an active adopter who will keep him on leash at all times (unless at the dog park / another fenced yard) as he likes to wander. Overall, Ringo thrives with human companionship and an active lifestyle. He will make an amazing family dog!  DISCLAIMER- Breed type is determined based on general appearance and behavioral characteristics and cannot be guaranteed unless DNA test results or AKC registration were provided at intake. ***RINGO IS FOSTERED IN TEXAS, BUT AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION AND TRANSPORT OUT OF STATE. Read below for more information. Our dogs are transported to a predetermined location agreed upon by the rescue. The adoption contract and fee are finalized prior to transport. As a Pep's Pals Rescue direct adoption, the adoption interview/meet and greet occurs on video call (Skype, FB Messenger call, Facetime, etc).  Our adoption fee is $350 plus health certificate and transport (varies by location). This fee includes all current vaccinations, deworming, microchip (additional $12.99 registration fee required at time of adoption), fecal analysis, spay/neuter for dogs 6 months & older, and a heartworm test if over 6 months old. All dogs are current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention. A health exam will be completed and a health certificate issued by a veterinarian within 10 days of transport. DISCLOSURE: The adoptable pets in our program are still in the care and custody of owners who wish to re-home their pet. Owners have enlisted Rescue Well to provide marketing and screening of applicants as a service, free of charge. All fees and adoption conditions are determined by the owner. We advise that adopters do not send payment or deposits for pets prior to adopting.  ***** Ripley is 8yo, weighs 45lbs, is spayed, is microchipped, but is not up to date on her vaccines (guardian will update her vaccines prior to adoption).  Since the move, poor Ripley is living in the in-laws' basement and although she has a tv, is visited by in-laws occasionally, and visited by human dad after work, she's essentially alone about 20 hours per day, which is distressing to her guardians.  Ripley is good in the car, can 'sit' and 'stay', dislikes/fears fireworks, loud bang noises such as bb guns/gun shots, rain, water, and being left alone.  Ripley had a litter in the past and was wonderful with her puppies, but because of the other dog attack, she's aggressive toward larger and older dogs. Ripley's guardian explains why she has made the difficult decision to rehome her:  Through no fault of her own, Ripley needs a new home because her guardians fell on hard times.  They had to downsize to an apartment, cannot afford the pet deposit/additional monthly pet fee and vet care.  Additionally, since there are 2 small babies in the household and Ripley often plays rough, she doesn't know her own strength and could knock over and hurt the babies.  Finally, there are many dogs in the new neighborhood and since Ripley's bite incident, she is aggressive to larger or older dogs. BITE INCIDENT:  Approximately 4 years ago, Ripley bit another dog who breached her territory and cornered her; the bite broke the skin, animal control was not involved, and the other dog was treated and is fine.  Ripley's guardian explains:   "About 4 years ago, a larger dog came into our yard and cornered Ripley.  Ripley acted in fear and self defense and bit the other dog on the mouth.  Since this occurred Ripley is very aggressive to larger or older dogs.  Other dog was treated and is perfectly fine, we paid the vet bills and there was no ill will."   Ripley's guardian offers a brief medical history:  Seasonal allergies on Ripley's paws from the grass. Ripley's guardian states the following regarding children:  Although Ripley has lived with small children, her guardian doesn't recommend her living with small children, stating: "Ripley is currently residing with my in-laws in there basement until we can find her a new home.  We have brought our two daughters, (one is 17 months and the other 2 months) to visit her and socialize but we can't have the girls on the floor with her because she doesn't understand her own strength with playing   But when we're holding the babies, she does smother them with kisses and cuddles.  She loves them, just plays too rough.  She has been around kids around 4 and older and is perfectly great and sweet with them.  But she has intense zoomies where she can barrel through them so we steer them clear of her when she's running like that.  She also loves tug a war and she gets too into it and nips playfully when biting the toy and sometimes accidentally bites your finger and it hurts wayy to bad for a small child.  Even for an adult it hurts pretty bad." Ripley's guardian states the following regarding dogs:  Although Ripley has lived with dogs, her guardian doesn't recommend her living with dogs, stating: "She is very aggressive to other dogs, except puppies.  She has had a litter in the past and loves babies so she is good with them if introduced correctly.  We got a puppy about 3 years ago and she raised him and loved him like a baby.  But other older dogs, or other dogs outside of our home, she acts very aggressive and barks and has incredibly intense anxiety.  You better have her on a leash or a very strong grip on her because it will be bad." Ripley's guardian states the following regarding cats:   Although Ripley has lived with cats, her guardian doesn't recommend her living with dogs, stating: "Ripley has always been good with cats and has lived with two in the past.  But I say no to living with them because she hasn't been socialized with them in a couple years and it really depends on if the cat is okay with dogs." Ripley's guardian describes her as: Very active Barks alot Playful Friendly Fence Jumper Likes to be touched Affectionate Protective Always at your side Indoor dog Outdoor dog House-Trained Crate-Trained Likes men Likes women Separation anxiety Ripley's guardian describes her ideal future home:  "Fenced-in yard, experienced owner, no pets or small children.
