Adoptable in: MA, RI, NH, CT, and VTGood with dogs: YesGood with cats: Unknown, likely yesGood with kids: Yes, dog savvy childrenCrate trained: YesHouse Trained: Yes Portland is a sweet, gentle boy who is just beginning to learn what it means to be a cherished companion. He has a calm, pleasant nature and a strong desire to belong to a family or pack. While he can be a bit shy with new experiences, he finds comfort in familiar people, places, and routines. He’s medium energy overall - happy to enjoy bursts of play outside, but content to relax and settle quietly indoors. Portland loves being outside, whether he’s running around the yard with his dog friends or simply lounging and watching the world go by.Portland absolutely loves other dogs and takes great confidence from them, often looking to his canine buddies for cues on how to handle new situations. He would truly thrive in a home with another friendly dog to help him continue building confidence. Around children, Portland is respectful and cautious - he doesn’t herd, nip, or jump, but instead prefers to hang back when kids are very active or moving quickly. With cats, his submissive and gentle nature suggests he would be curious but respectful, and he’s likely to move away if a cat indicates it wants space.Portland walks fairly well on leash and just needs a little encouragement when encountering new or unfamiliar things. He is crate trained, happily goes into his crate with a treat, and settles quietly for the night. During the day, he can be crated for short periods (1–2 hours) and does well with routine. While car rides aren’t his favorite at first, once he’s in the car he rides calmly and comfortably. With patience, consistency, and a stable environment, Portland will continue to blossom into a confident and devoted companion. If you’re looking for a gentle, loyal dog who would love nothing more than to be part of your pack, Portland’s your pup! Please Note: All dogs are posted on our website until they are officially adopted. Story
Meet Scarlet! The happiest and smartest gal on the block!! At just 1.5 years old and 35 pounds, this sweet girl has already overcome so much after being abandoned at a busy construction site. Despite her rough start, she is incredibly loving, curious, and SMART — you can practically see the gears turning in her head. She has lots of puppy energy and will thrive with an active adopter who can provide structure, consistency, and continued training. She appears to have some herding breed traits and would love enrichment activities, walks, toys, and little “jobs” to keep her mind busy. She is still learning the basics, including potty training, since it’s likely no one ever taught her before. But she’s eager to learn and catches on quickly with patience and positive guidance. This girl has so much potential and is ready for someone willing to give her the love, stability, and fresh start she deserves.

Story
Our extremely handsome Border Collie mix boy is called Bear Bear and he is a little guy who was born around the early week of February and he is ready to energize a new family at their very core.   He is so happy and loving and at 13 weeks he is 13 pounds and on his way to be a 45 pound adult dog.  His ready smile and curious nature are just a joy to behold.  He was brought to the Critter Cavalry Rescue fold and to a foster home after he left his KY Momma who Critter Cavalry paid to have spayed and fully vetted as a gratitude to have the puppies.  Bear Bear is just an engaging and warm little puppy who has a wonderful smile and beautiful markings that promise him to become a handsome Border Collie mix boy who will turn heads.   Bear Bear is still working on potty breaks and almost 1000% there.  He just needs a willing and kind  family who are great at training and being a loving group who are patient. Sweet Bear Bear is a willing soul that wants to be your best friend in life.  He is happy and handsome and in the time of his life to be molded and polished in to a fine and loving companion to a wonderful family. .  If you are ready to take on the role as guide and parent to Bear Bear please write to Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com    He is ready to go NOW! PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comMay 14, 2026, 9:49 am

Story
Meet Butters Butters is a playful, expressive Border Collie mix pup with a big personality and an even bigger heart. He’s currently working on crate training, potty training, and learning how to walk on a leash—he’s not quite as far along as his other foster buddy Waffles, but he’s making steady progress every day.  Born around Feb. 5th of 2026, this boy is destined to be a very handsome semi-long haired adult boy that will reach the medium range of 50 pounds. One thing you’ll notice right away is that Butters has a lot to say with his voice. He’s more vocal than your average puppy and loves to growl and “talk” during playtime—but it’s all in good fun. It’s just his way of getting into the game and showing his excitement. Butters plays hard with his foster siblings and gets along great with just about everyone—kids, cats, dogs, and adults. He’s social, friendly, and happy to be part of the action. When it’s time to eat, he’s polite and shares his dinner nicely with others.  The Border Collie breed is an active and very intelligent breed of dog.  Butters would benefit from a fenced yard and constant socialization with lots of people and lots of dogs to play with often.  Daily leash walks is great for this breed and it creates such a good bonding time for the owner to establish a closer relationship and affirming the position of who is the leader in the relationship....you and human.  If you’re looking for a fun-loving, energetic pup who will keep you entertained and grow alongside you then Butters could be your perfect match.  Please email Critter Cavalry Rescue for more information at ccrnewengland@gmail.com    PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comMay 14, 2026, 9:49 am

Story
When you first meet Frejo, there’s something about him that feels different—like you’re looking into the eyes of a puppy with an old soul. This incredibly handsome Border Collie mix, born around February 5th, has the look of a little black bear with his soft, fluffy coat and thoughtful expression. Frejo came from Kentucky with his four brothers, all sharing that striking black or black-and-white coloring, but there’s something uniquely special about him. At around 12 pounds now, he’s expected to grow into a stunning 45–50 pound adult—your future “black nugget of perfection.” But Frejo is more than just good looks—he’s a thinker. A smart, observant puppy who takes in the world around him and responds with curiosity and heart. He adores snuggling with his foster mom and has become quite the star during puppy yoga sessions, happily soaking up attention, pets, and love from everyone he meets. Watching him romp around with joyful zoomies is pure happiness in motion. Like any young pup, Frejo will need continued guidance, structure, and training—but he’s already off to an amazing start. He’s almost fully housebroken, crate trained, and eager to learn (he even figured out how to get on the bed in under a minute!). He plays beautifully with other dogs and would thrive in a home ready to nurture his intelligence and loving spirit. Frejo would make a wonderful addition to a family with respectful children and would especially love a fenced yard where he can safely run, play, and embrace his Border Collie energy. If you’re ready to welcome a loyal, joyful, and deeply special companion into your life, Frejo is waiting for you.To learn more or apply, please contact Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com. Be sure to include your location—Frejo is fostered in Tennessee, and transport is available to multiple northeastern states every weekend.
