Story
Shelton was left at an overcrowded kill shelter and found himself on the edge of being placed on the high risk list to be put down. The shelter staff said he is a great dog and could not let that happen and reached out to us for help. Shelton loves people, he is good with kids and other dogs too. We do not know what he thinks about cats. He is a tad on the shy side but warms up quickly and becomes very loving. This sweet, friendly guy is just 11 months old and weighs 46 pounds. Please help Shelton find the loving home he deserves. We do NOT ship our animals. All adoptive families must travel to us to meet their adoptive dog/cat. Applicants must live within a 2 hour radius from Sparta/Andover (07871/07821). Please understand that we are an animal shelter and thus unable to say whether the dogs are housebroken as they are not in homes. Story
FOREVER HOME NEEDED!!  Kubo came to us in 2020, and was adopted relatively quickly! Unfortunately, his owners could not handle Kubo and it led to them needing to return him. He was terrified upon being back at the kennel, a completely different dog than what had came to us originally. We found Kubo a wonderful foster home where he has been for 2 years! He never receives ANY interest . We are now desperate. Kubo's foster is returning to work and will not have enough time to care for him. This poor boy needs his FOREVER home ASAP!!! Kubo is a very smart 5 year old cuddle bug. He LOVES to cuddle on his person and be around them. He has been undergoing training and has come such a long way. Kubo is good with other dogs but can be very vocal when seeing them outside which is part of what his training has consisted of. He would do amazing in a lower traffic home with adults/older teens. If you are interested in Kubo, visit EHRDOGS.ORG and fill out an application for KUBOJune 2, 2025, 11:28 am

Story
Inara certainly lives up to her name, which means “ray of light!” Inara is a beautiful and sweet 60 lb, 1-year-old border collie mix with a tail that never stops wagging once she gets to know you.  Inara was found on the Texas and Mexico border, all alone and wandering in search of humans and food. A caring border patrol agent scooped her up and kept her safe.  She can be shy and fearful in new situations, but once she trusts you, she’s incredibly affectionate, loyal, and sweet – a total cuddle bug who just wants to be near her people. Inara is house trained. She LOVES other dogs and would thrive in a home with another canine companion to help her feel more secure and show her the ropes.  She is curious and athletic; she loves to play and chase her foster siblings around the yard. Inara is also very smart and food motivated, which makes training a lot of fun. So far, she has learned “sit,” “paw,” “down,” “touch,” and “leave it” (though she’s still perfecting the last command in the company of squirrels). She’s working on these skills and building confidence in her foster home. At night, she sleeps on a dog bed in her foster parent’s room. Inara is looking for a calm, understanding forever home that will give her the time and space to feel safe. Because she can be skittish, a family with small children might not be the best option for her. But if you're patient, loving, and have a few treats in your pocket, Inara will absolutely become your new best friend.  Inara is microchipped, spayed, up to date on vaccines. Her adoption fee is $415.  If you have the welcoming home Inara is searching for, apply to adopt INARA LONESTAR at www.ehrdogs.org!October 13, 2025, 7:46 pm

Story
Meet Eliza! This young adult petite border collie mix is looking for a special person to continue her training and socialization. She is very fearful and distrustful of people until she bonds, but once she trusts is a fun high energy walking, hiking and jogging companion with her chosen buddy. She's fearful and avoids other dogs and is looking for a calmer experienced adult home with just one person she can bond to and protect. She loves to catch frisbees and play fetch and is a dog who needs a "job" to keep her mind busy and give her an appropriate outlet for her energy... no couch potatoes for this dog! Eliza is about 35lbs full grown and has the intelligence and energy of a border collie, with a bit more of the independent attitude of a shiba or spitz type breed. *Multiple meets required* Please submit an application for an appointment to meet her Primary Color: Black Secondary Color: White Age: 6yrs 2mths 2wks

Story
Brains, beauty, and loyalty in one package- That's our survivor Hannah! This compact 9 year old came to us as a pup originally after being hit by a car and left for dead with a fractured leg and pelvis. After a complicated surgery and rehab she made a full recovery and is an active healthy girl. Sadly due to changes in her adopters' living situation she is back at the shelter after years in a loving home, and she's very unhappy about it:/Hannah is a bit nervous and untrusting with new people, but after proper introductions and some yummy treats to win her over her sweet side shines through. She's very in tune to her people and their moods, and once you are in her circle of friends her loyalty and devotion is unmatched. She hasn't been socialized with other dogs and reacts when she sees them at a distance on leash, and a home where she can be the only pet and in a quieter low traffic living arrangement would be best for her. She knows her commands, is housebroken and well mannered in the house, and is about 50lbs full grown. We think she's border collie or cattle dog mixed with pittie, and she has the intelligence, energy, and playfulness of all 3 rolled into one little dog. Adults only please, she hasn't been around kids and they would frighten her. Please help Hannah find her perfect home and submit an application today for an appointment to meet her Primary Color: Black Secondary Color: White Weight: 58 Age: 9yrs 5mths 1wks
