www.TheLastResortRescue.com PLEASE NOTE: IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN ADOPTING THIS PET THE FIRST STEP IS TO FILL OUT OUR ADOPTION APPLICATION AVAILABLE AT THELASTRESORTRESCUE.COM. If you have a question or inquiry please email us at tlrapplications@gmail.com   Fiona, our beautiful Fiona, found herself being dumped at the kill shelter by her previous owner while she was IN ACTIVE LABOR with puppies. Just a year old herself at the time, she was just terrified and starting having puppies on the shelter floor. We needed to act quickly! Fast Fiona had 8 pups, 7 survived. Fiona was the BEST momma to all those giant puppies, even though she was just a baby herself. She has raised all her pups and has been in foster, decompressing from her previous life! She is such an amazing dog! She bonds quickly and deeply to her person, she's a Velcro dog, she just wants to be where you are. She likes other dogs, but doesn't necessarily require another dog. She is good with people, kids, other animals. However she was one of those ' kids having kids' so she still very puppy like herself.  She is housebroken and very well behaved!  She is Very attached to her foster family, and she is a deeply emotional dog. She is one in a million! We are looking for that one in a million human that will truly bond with her and be hers forever!  If you think that person is you, fill out the application today! We would love to speak to you and arrange a meet and greet with Fiona! She deserved to find her true ' Happily Ever After ' October 1, 2024, 1:43 pm

Story
Meet Eliza! This young adult petite border collie mix is looking for a special person to continue her training and socialization. She is very fearful and distrustful of people until she bonds, but once she trusts is a fun high energy walking, hiking and jogging companion with her chosen buddy. She's fearful and avoids other dogs and is looking for a calmer experienced adult home with just one person she can bond to and protect. She loves to catch frisbees and play fetch and is a dog who needs a "job" to keep her mind busy and give her an appropriate outlet for her energy... no couch potatoes for this dog! Eliza is about 35lbs full grown and has the intelligence and energy of a border collie, with a bit more of the independent attitude of a shiba or spitz type breed. *Multiple meets required* Please submit an application for an appointment to meet her Primary Color: Black Secondary Color: White Age: 5yrs 0mths 3wks

Story
Brains, beauty, and loyalty in one package- That's our survivor Hannah! This compact 8 year old came to us as a pup originally after being hit by a car and left for dead with a fractured leg and pelvis. After a complicated surgery and rehab she made a full recovery and is an active healthy girl. Sadly due to changes in her adopters' living situation she is back at the shelter after years in a loving home, and she's very unhappy about it:/Hannah is a bit nervous and untrusting with new people, but after proper introductions and some yummy treats to win her over her sweet side shines through. She's very in tune to her people and their moods, and once you are in her circle of friends her loyalty and devotion is unmatched. She hasn't been socialized with other dogs and reacts when she sees them at a distance on leash, and a home where she can be the only pet and in a quieter low traffic living arrangement would be best for her. She knows her commands, is housebroken and well mannered in the house, and is about 50lbs full grown. We think she's border collie or cattle dog mixed with pittie, and she has the intelligence, energy, and playfulness of all 3 rolled into one little dog. Adults only please, she hasn't been around kids and they would frighten her. Please help Hannah find her perfect home and submit an application today for an appointment to meet her Primary Color: Black Secondary Color: White Weight: 58 Age: 8yrs 3mths 2wks

Patches Update: seeking a very special forever home!As Patches heals, our girl is searching for a permanent home where she can finally feel safe. Patches was rescued with a deep tissue injury to her leg after pushing out an air conditioner to jump from the second story of her home. She needed immediate medical attention and an emergency placement due to severe separation anxiety and thunderstorm phobia. We welcomed Patches to RBARI, where we could provide her with the thorough care and training she needed in a secure environment. She is still painful on her leg, but has begun bearing weight on it as she heals with pain management and rest. Due to her anxiety, it has taken her time to warm up to staff, but she is improving with daily rehabilitation. She's a bit of a stubborn little princess who will just flop down in the middle of the road when she decides she doesn't want to go in the same direction as you (she did this before the injury, it's not pain but just her personality). Patches requires a home where she will have consistent companionship and a committed caretaker who will help her overcome her anxiety with behavior modification and medication (our vet has started her on some anxiety medication) She is a 7-year-old border collie / husky (maybe aussie?) mix, weighing 60 pounds. Please share to find Patches' perfect match and submit an application if you think you can help her. You can help us continue to reach into our local community to help those animals most in need with your shares today. With your support, Patches will find the healing and comfort she needs to settle peacefully into the right home! Primary Color: White Secondary Color: Tan Weight: 60 Age: 7yrs 2mths 1wks

Story
Meet Dottie! Doesn’t she look trim and fit? 😳 Believe it or not, this is after already losing 5lbs since coming into our care a few weeks ago. Dottie was a whopping 35lbs on arrival, probably double her ideal weight! She looks like a giant chihuahua who ate 10 other chihuahuas, or a mini border collie someone put in a baler to compress into a compact little square for easy storage 🤣 Medical testing has revealed she does have an excuse for her severe obesity besides just clearly having access to all-you-can-eat buffets… she has Cushing’s disease which was causing her excess hunger as well as obsessive thirst. Luckily it’s easily treated and managed with daily pills longterm and regular bloodwork monitoring, and we are hopeful she will live a normal lifespan as long as she continues to lose weight and get back into good health. Dottie is a joyful happy little 8-10 year old “young at heart” senior. She’s great with other dogs and has always lived with them, very friendly with all people, a star patient at the vet, and loves playing with and fetching squeaky toys. We haven’t seen a mean bone in her squishy little body, or seen or felt any bones for that matter 🩻. She’s pretty active or at least wants to be- right now she tires easily and starts turning blue and snorting and grunting with any exercise or heat. But hopefully if her weight loss continues, by the end of the summer she will be in shape enough to enjoy some fall hikes and fun times with her new people. She would be a great addition to just about any home that will enjoy her infectious happiness and fun personality, always looking up at you with a smile and ready to accompany you anywhere- a walk, car ride, nap, or just making sure you don’t have to go to the bathroom alone. And of course someone who will keep her toy basket full and doesn’t mind finding squeaky toys all over the house and continue her on her medication longterm. Email njwoof@cs.com to meet Dottie in Northern NJ Since COVID-19, we are no longer holding our Sunday adoption events until further notice, but we are scheduling meet and greet appointments with a specific dog or dogs at our meeting spots in Northern NJ. To streamline adoptions, all communication before, during, and after the adoption process is done through email only: we have limited volunteers able to return phone calls. Submit an application from our website www.secondchance.petfinder.com to speed up the adoption process and email any questions to us at njwoof@cs.com. Please check your email regularly for next steps. All our dogs reside in foster care in Northern NJ until adoption and we do not have a central shelter location. We are a small all-volunteer organization focused on rescuing local dogs from area shelters, as well as accepting some surrenders and puppy mill rescues.

Story
What do you get when you mix a Border Collie/Aussie mom and a Husky dad?  This guy! Marsh was born around the middle of July and his situation for the first few weeks of his life was pretty rough - living in a dirty, unkempt backyard where there were multiple adult dogs and a couple of litters of puppies.  Hard clay dirt and no grass with no clean water and on top of that, almost no human contact.  Luckily Critter Cavalry was able to step in and help Marsh and his siblings, along with their mama.   They all came to live in a nice foster home where they quickly learned that there was so much more to life than what they had previously known!  Marsh has stunning brown and cream coloring, with touches of white, and mesmerizing eyes. We expect his adult weight to be in the 50 pound spectrum as an adult. Marsh is the clown of his litter, the attention getter and mischief maker (in a cute way). He leads the others in their games of tug and catch-me-if-you-can, and they happily let him lead the pack.  He pesters his mama until she reaches the end of her patience. When his foster mom sits down with the litter, Marsh is the first one to nose into her lap, trying to get ALL the attention. Marsh has also inherited the husky trait of 'talking' from his dad, so some very unique sounds come out of his mouth.  Anyone familiar with Huskies knows how interesting it can be to hear them talk. With his stellar good looks and engaging personality, you cannot help but fall in love the second you meet this special boy.   If you are interested in adopting one of the most adorable puppies around, consider contacting Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com. He will be ready to hop on the van in Nashville October 12th and ride to meet a new family who will take him home to love for the rest of his life. Hold on to your horses and get ready for Marsh to invade your life in all the good and fun ways. Fenced yard is required.           PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comOctober 8, 2024, 10:24 pm
