DNA Results Available Weight: 36 lbs Training: Mostly house-trained, goes to the door when he needs out. Crate trained when alone at the house. Health: During his initial vet check, a heart murmur was detected. A follow-up appointment with a veterinary cardiologist confirmed that Rigatoni has mild Mitral Valvular Dysplasia. The cardiologist was not concerned, advised that no activity restrictions are needed, and noted that some dogs grow out of this as they mature. Rigatoni is otherwise healthy, up to date on vaccines, and neutered. 💙 Personality Rigatoni may be shy at first, but give him a little time and he’ll show you his true colors: a super snuggly, affectionate, and downright adorable pup. Do you like a husky, but maybe not all of the husky traits? Rex is your boy. He is a year old husky/border collie mix (that's mom next to him) who needs a forever home. Rex had originally been adopted as a 3-month old puppy and was returned at a year when the family decided they no longer wanted him. Rex is a beautiful, medium sized boy who is housebroken, can be trusted not to be crated, is obedient and loyal. In fact, he may look like a husky, but his behavior is more border collie, and for that, he needs someone with breed experience. If you move, he moves. He will be at a heel next to your leg, on your lap if you're watching television, and at your feet when you're cooking dinner or eating or sleeping. His coat is silky like a border collie's. He will alert bark, or bark when playing, but is otherwise a quiet boy. He does have average-high energy and so needs an active home. He is non-reactive to cats and gets along well with other dogs. Rockstar Ms. Riley Ray didn’t get her name by accident — she earned it with heart, resilience, and a spirit that refuses to fade. This stunning 8-year-old purebred Border Collie has lived a life that didn’t quite match the energy she was born with. Adopted as a puppy by a loving older couple, Riley grew up surrounded by affection but very little structure. Long days indoors, extra bites of fast food and table scraps, and almost no exercise slowly took a toll. By the time her elderly parents entered nursing care, Riley had reached an unhealthy 81 pounds — a heavy weight for a dog meant to run free. Critter Cavalry Rescue stepped in and promised Riley and the family that her story wouldn’t end there. Since arriving, she has begun her comeback tour. Beneath the extra pounds is the bright, athletic, ball-obsessed girl she was always meant to be. Riley lives for fetch. The moment a ball appears, her eyes light up and her whole body comes alive. It’s as if she’s saying, “This is who I really am.” She is affectionate, loyal, incredibly smart, and still has so much joy and drive left to give. Riley is searching for an active home that understands Border Collies and will help her continue her health journey. She doesn’t want to sit on the sidelines anymore — she wants to run, chase, play, and finally live the life her breed was built for. Her past may have slowed her down, but it never dimmed her spark.
