You wouldn't know it looking at this bouncy fetch-aholic now, but Jeffrey was nearly skin and bones when he was first brought into the shelter we pulled him from. With a healthy diet, steady wellness plan and some guidance from the vet Jeff grew into the healthy boy you see today! A border collie mix with incredible focus, a strong intellect and an active athleticism, there is no doubt Jeff is gifted with the traits of his working dog roots. At the same time, this boy has a silly side that will have you giggling in no time! When his work is done Jeffery engages with his people, letting them know just how happy he is to be with them with his wiggly behind and his cartoonishly long tongue. Jeff gets along well with his canine companions, though maybe not as much as his off-the-charts adoration of his people. He typically tends to like more playful lighthearted dogs, especially younger females! He can typically be found romping around in the heat of the action when in a group for play, but don't be mistaken, Jeffery is ready at a moment's notice to drop everything for a round of fetch or a chance to learn something new. After being given time and space to assess the situation, Jeff is more willing to engage in some "get to know" time with treat exchange or an offering of a ball toss particularly if it squeaks and will loosen up. He has proven to be able to quickly build trust with new people given the appropriate approach. Because of Jeff's insecurities, we recommend he goes to a home with children 14 and up and no cats please. He would be a perfect match for someone who loves to play fetch.. a lot and enjoys hikes. This compact 9 year old came to us as a pup originally after being hit by a car and left for dead with a fractured leg and pelvis. After a complicated surgery and rehab she made a full recovery and is an active healthy girl. Sadly due to changes in her adopters' living situation she is back at the shelter after years in a loving home, and she's very unhappy about it:/Hannah is a bit nervous and untrusting with new people, but after proper introductions and some yummy treats to win her over her sweet side shines through. She's very in tune to her people and their moods, and once you are in her circle of friends her loyalty and devotion is unmatched. She hasn't been socialized with other dogs and reacts when she sees them at a distance on leash, and a home where she can be the only pet and in a quieter low traffic living arrangement would be best for her. She knows her commands, is housebroken and well mannered in the house, and is about 50lbs full grown. Casey’s anxiety is now heightened by his juvenile companions (a 2.5 year old and 6m old), so he would like a quieter home without children. He’s selective with other dogs and needs slow introductions, but he loves to play with dog friends. He is crate trained, house trained, neutered, and mostly good on leash. When we tell the story of Mika, we have chosen to leave out the harsh details of the neglect and dirty conditions that she lived in. Suffice to say it was disturbing to view. She was rescued alongside her sister, Millicent who endured the same harsh living conditions. Despite a history of being mistreated and neglected, Mika the 18 month old, 52 pound Aussie/Hound mix girl has a heart of gold and has shown zero resentment. She has spent the last few weeks learning what it means to be safe, clean, and cared for, and she has taken to her new life with total grace. Personality: Calm, affectionate, and steady. Mika is the definition of a sweetheart. She has a gentle, low-key temperament that makes her a perfect fit for a family looking for a more relaxed companion. She is fantastic with kids and simply wants to be where the love is. While she hasn't quite figured out what to do with toys yet, she is incredibly food-motivated, which has made her recent leash training a breeze! Mika is a polite listener who comes when called and is eager to please. She would be a wonderful addition to a home that values cuddles and a steady presence. Our happy, soft coated fluffy girl puppy is called Patty Pro Bono and the shelter who took in the litter of Great Pyr and Australian Shepherd pups named the litter after the Lawyer who brought them in to find homes. The lawyer's female Great Pyr had the accidental litter on 2/26/26 and brought them in the first of last of April to find them homes. When you first meet Patty you are ready to hug her and reassure her that she will find a great family very soon. She is happy, well adjusted and has one of those easy going personalities that is bright and upbeat. She is a curious girl and not as big as some of her littermates that take after the Great Pyr. Patty takes after the size of her dad who is an Australian Shepherd. At just 15 weeks she weighs 21 pounds and is destined to be a 50 pound adult that will be fluffy and gorgeous like an Australian Shepherd, and will carry the energy and intelligence of the breed. Patty and her litter had spent the past 4 weeks with no adoptions happening. It was a small town shelter. The Director started making calls and pleas to rescues and Critter Cavalry Rescue could not resist helping this beautiful litter of 6 puppies. They needed foster care and comfort from a foster family who can show them love and training. This incredibly beautiful girl has done so well with other dogs and with young children. She is just a sweetheart and is quickly learning about crate training and is on a schedule to go out for potty breaks. We want this girl to grow up successfully in a fenced yard and to learn leash manners right away. She loves to sleep most of the night in her puppy bed on the floor by the bed. Patty Pro Bono is more than just beautiful - she is a thoughtful girl that is sensitive and quiet. She would lay by your feet while you work all day long. She loves to run and romp in the yard and this is why we are looking for a family with a fence. She is a smart, observant puppy who takes in the world around her and responds with curiosity and heart. She adores snuggling with her foster mom and happily soaks up attention, pets, and love from everyone she meets. Watching her romp around with joyful zoomies is pure happiness in motion. Meet JD Swagger, our young/old soul, who has the heart of a therapist and the gentle spirit of a lifelong best friend. â¤ï¸ This handsome 4 month old Aussie/Great Pyr mix boy pup weighs 18 pounds and was part of an accidental litter born 2/26 to a pure Great Pyr mom and an Aussie dad. The litter was raised by the owner until the end of April and then brought in to a small community shelter in Tennessee. For 5 weeks not one puppy was adopted from the litter which was amazing to us. The Director of the shelter started getting worried about these innocent puppies having to stay so long in a shelter and not in good adoptive homes or even a rescue's foster care. When Critter Cavalry was called we rushed to pick them up from this well run shelter and found the best foster homes to help them on their journey to a final adoptive family. We have found JD Swagger to be one of the smallest in size amongst his littermates, but he has the biggest and most gentle heart. He sits on the outskirts of the playtime area and watches over his siblings. Definitely that Great Pyr guardian temperament and gentleness. He seems to worry about things and wants to make sure they are getting fixed so to speak. Goodness his foster mom just melts as she speaks about this precious boy's beautiful spirit. JD is on his way to becoming a 50 pound adult dog or maybe a tad less. He has the size and proportions of the Aussie breed and not his Great Pyr momma. But his desire to protect and watch over his siblings and his humans is just amazing. He moves with deliberate purpose and he is not one to get the zoomies and run until he drops. He is slow and methodical and purposeful in everything he does. Despite whatever hardships he faced early on, JD's loving nature shines brighter than anything else. In just one week in foster care, he has amazed everyone around him. He quickly learned the outside bathroom break training, leash walking, and how to listen attentively to his humans. More than that, he has shown us what a truly special companion he is. JD has that rare “old soul” quality — the kind of dog who quietly understands you, stays close when you’re sad, and makes every day feel a little lighter. He’s the kind of dog who simply fits anywhere and with anyone. is wonderful with dogs, cats, chickens, children, and adults of all ages. He is gentle, easygoing, eager to please, and genuinely wants nothing more than to love and be loved.
