You wouldn't know it looking at this bouncy fetch-aholic now, but Jeffrey was nearly skin and bones when he was first brought into the shelter we pulled him from. With a healthy diet, steady wellness plan and some guidance from the vet Jeff grew into the healthy boy you see today! A border collie mix with incredible focus, a strong intellect and an active athleticism, there is no doubt Jeff is gifted with the traits of his working dog roots. At the same time, this boy has a silly side that will have you giggling in no time! When his work is done Jeffery engages with his people, letting them know just how happy he is to be with them with his wiggly behind and his cartoonishly long tongue. Jeff gets along well with his canine companions, though maybe not as much as his off-the-charts adoration of his people. He typically tends to like more playful lighthearted dogs, especially younger females! He can typically be found romping around in the heat of the action when in a group for play, but don't be mistaken, Jeffery is ready at a moment's notice to drop everything for a round of fetch or a chance to learn something new. After being given time and space to assess the situation, Jeff is more willing to engage in some "get to know" time with treat exchange or an offering of a ball toss particularly if it squeaks and will loosen up. He has proven to be able to quickly build trust with new people given the appropriate approach. Because of Jeff's insecurities, we recommend he goes to a home with children 14 and up and no cats please. He would be a perfect match for someone who loves to play fetch.. a lot and enjoys hikes. This compact 9 year old came to us as a pup originally after being hit by a car and left for dead with a fractured leg and pelvis. After a complicated surgery and rehab she made a full recovery and is an active healthy girl. Sadly due to changes in her adopters' living situation she is back at the shelter after years in a loving home, and she's very unhappy about it:/Hannah is a bit nervous and untrusting with new people, but after proper introductions and some yummy treats to win her over her sweet side shines through. She's very in tune to her people and their moods, and once you are in her circle of friends her loyalty and devotion is unmatched. She hasn't been socialized with other dogs and reacts when she sees them at a distance on leash, and a home where she can be the only pet and in a quieter low traffic living arrangement would be best for her. She knows her commands, is housebroken and well mannered in the house, and is about 50lbs full grown. We think she's border collie or cattle dog mixed with pittie, and she has the intelligence, energy, and playfulness of all 3 rolled into one little dog. Casey’s anxiety is now heightened by his juvenile companions (a 2.5 year old and 6m old), so he would like a quieter home without children. He’s selective with other dogs and needs slow introductions, but he loves to play with dog friends. He is crate trained, house trained, neutered, and mostly good on leash. Beckett is a very handsome mini Australian Shepherd mix. He weighs about 35 lbs. This distinguished boy is a young 10-year-old. Beckett was saved from the streets of Nashville. He was abandoned and alone. Thanks to a caring lady who could not bear the thought of him spending any more time outside, Beckett is now in a loving foster home. He is under the care of Critter Cavalry. It did not take long for this awesome gentleman to make himself at home. After meeting the resident dogs, he explored outside. He came in and found a spot to relax. He is getting along great with his new foster brothers and sisters. He is also good with cats. This super smart boy quickly learned to use the doggie door. He can now come and go as he pleases. He does prefer to be inside and likes to know where his foster mom is. Beckett is enjoying all the love and attention he is getting. It takes him a few minutes, but he quickly warms up to new people. He just has to make sure that you are nice. Beckett is housebroken. He walks well on a leash. He also does not mind the crate and will go right in for a treat. He currently sleeps in his crate, but we think he would love to cuddle up right next to you. â¤ï¸ Blue Sassy: The Dog Who Still Has So Much Love Left to Give â¤ï¸ Sometimes a rescue story finds you, and before you know it, you’ve become part of a journey that desperately deserves a happy ending. Blue Sassy is a 9-year-old Blue Heeler who spent her entire life with one man who adored her. He raised her from a puppy, and every night she slept beside him. She wasn’t just his dog—she was his comfort, his companion, and his therapy through life’s challenges. A few months ago, her owner reached out to Critter Cavalry Rescue with a heartbreaking request. His health was failing, and he was being forced to move somewhere his beloved dogs could not follow. Through tears, he asked us to help. When Blue Sassy came into rescue, she finally received the veterinary care she hadn’t had in years. During her spay and wellness exam, we discovered she was diabetic. The untreated diabetes had also affected her eyesight, leaving her with limited vision. But here’s the remarkable thing about Blue Sassy… She doesn’t feel sorry for herself. She wakes up every day happy. She greets people with a smile. She loves to explore the yard with her nose leading the way. She loves ear scratches, belly rubs, curling up on the couch, and most of all, sitting in your lap soaking up affection. She still has all the intelligence, confidence, and personality that make Blue Heelers such incredible companions. Her foster family absolutely adores her. Blue Sassy would do best in a home with minimal stairs and easy access to the outdoors for potty breaks. She gets along wonderfully with other dogs, loves children, and enjoys being around people. While her vision isn’t perfect, she navigates her world surprisingly well and adapts with the resilience dogs are famous for. Her diabetes is manageable with twice-daily insulin injections, given about 12 hours apart. The insulin itself is affordable, and the injections are quick and easy. Other than her diabetes, her bloodwork and health checks have been excellent. What Blue Sassy needs now isn’t pity. She needs someone who sees beyond a diagnosis and recognizes the loving, loyal, funny, affectionate dog standing right in front of them. At 9 years old, she still has plenty of life to live, plenty of cuddles to give, and plenty of memories left to make. Age is only a number, and Blue Sassy’s heart is as young as ever.
