Every once in awhile you will see younger dogs but for the most part our dogs live out their life at the ranch at the request of their previous owners or their owners families. We have many sponsorship dogs. Our sponsors love to keep in touch and know how their sponsored fur buddy is doing :) When we have foster families we are thrilled to be able to take adoptable younger dogs :) So if you have ever thought about becoming fosters please feel free to go to our foster/volunteer page and fill out an application. The Ranch located at 737 Taylor Rd., Windsor, PA is always looking for dedicated volunteers that will commit to at least a 2 hour shift per week at the rescue. Volunteers work in play yards, help with laundry and feeding. Some enjoy landscaping or carpentry projects and some like to bake for the healing center visitors :) Thank you for supporting our mission of caring for the elderly and medically needy souls that need us! Image growing up in a yard with a human throwing you food over a fence and pouring water in your already dirty water day after day. The human never touched you or the other three dogs in the yard and you lived outside like this summer, winter spring and fall until finally 8 years into your life someone reported your owner to the authorities and they finally came to save you! You found yourself placed in a box separate from the only friends you had ever known. Taken to a noisy shelter, poked, probed, bathed and then stuck in a kennel alone. WOW SCARY right??? Well that was the experience for Max's, his best friend Moose and his 2 other fur buddies. Unfortunately the oldest of the 4 was quite ill and passed away :( The other one was adopted and seems to be doing well. Max's was very shut down until the shelter staff placed him with Moose and then they saw Max's come back to life! We couldn't allow Max's to lose the only friend he has ever had on this earth so we are taking both boys and they will only be adopted as a bonded pair with a contract signed that they will NOT be separated!! Max's & Moose will have to learn to live in a home, walk on a leash and understand what it is like to be valued and actually LOVED by a human. Definitely up to something. My husband have had our border collie since he was 8 weeks old, and he just turned 5 in January. He’s has issues with resource guarding and reactivity. He does well at doggy daycare and warms up to people once he has a few moments to sniff and bark at them. The issue is that we now have a baby and our dog is just not happy. His resource guarding has gotten worse and he’s constantly stressed. My husband and I also just no longer have the time to devote to his needs. Our dog would thrive in a home with experienced collie owners. He needs a home with no children. He has never been around cats, but he has shown prey drive towards other small animals like squirrels and rabbits. He will likely do best as a singleton animal. Our dog is so sweet and goofy. He’s got that classic border collie neuroticness. He loves car rides and playing fetch. In the summertime, he likes to chill out in one of those kiddie pools. We are based in the Harrisburg area.
