She had already endured more than any puppy should—caught in a home with neglect and drug abuse, she was kicked by one of the owners, leaving her front leg broken and untreated. When we arrived in Tuscaloosa and saw her pain and fear, we knew immediately that she needed us. The very next day, our vet confirmed the break. With proper care, love, and healing, Winter made a full recovery. Today, she’s thriving—happy, energetic, and playful, with all the sweetness you could ask for in a companion. Her beautiful white coat with warm red patches and her soulful eyes make her just as stunning on the outside as she is strong on the inside. Winter is ready for her forever home—a family who will treasure not only her playful energy and loving nature, but also the story of resilience she carries with her. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. 2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue is primarily a sanctuary for senior and medically needy dogs.  Every once in awhile you will see younger dogs but for the most part our dogs live out their life at the ranch at the request of their previous owners or their owners families.  We have many sponsorship dogs.  Our sponsors love to keep in touch and know how their sponsored fur buddy is doing :) When we have foster families we are thrilled to be able to take adoptable younger dogs :)  So if you have ever thought about becoming fosters please feel free to go to our foster/volunteer page and fill out an application. The Ranch located at 737 Taylor Rd., Windsor, PA is always looking for dedicated volunteers that will commit to at least a 2 hour shift per week at the rescue.  Volunteers work in play yards, help with laundry and feeding.  Some enjoy landscaping or carpentry projects and some like to bake for the healing center visitors :) Thank you for supporting our mission of caring for the elderly and medically needy souls that need us! Image growing up in a yard with a human throwing you food over a fence and pouring water in your already dirty water day after day.  The human never touched you or the other three dogs in the yard and you lived outside like this summer, winter spring and fall until finally 8 years into your life someone reported your owner to the authorities and they finally came to save you!  You found yourself placed in a box separate from the only friends you had ever known.  Taken to a noisy shelter, poked, probed, bathed and then stuck in a kennel alone.  WOW SCARY right???  Well that was the experience for Max's, his best friend Moose and his 2 other fur buddies.  Unfortunately the oldest of the 4 was quite ill and passed away :(   The other one was adopted and seems to be doing well.  Max's was very shut down until the shelter staff placed him with Moose and then they saw Max's come back to life!   We couldn't allow Max's to lose the only friend he has ever had on this earth so we are taking both boys and they will only be adopted as a bonded pair with a contract signed that they will NOT be separated!! KODIAK IS IN HIS FOSTER HOME IN MEMPHIS, TN, AND WILL BE TRANSPORTED TO PA ONCE ADOPTED!   Kodiak is a 14-week-old Border Collie mix with a big brain and an even bigger heart. This little guy is very smart, learns quickly, and thrives with training, consistency, and lots of love. Kodiak loves to run, wrestle, and play with his brother and with bigger, older pups. He’s a happy, social puppy who gets along wonderfully with other dogs, cats, and kids. He already walks well on a leash and is crate trained. Kodiak is working hard on his potty training and is making great progress! When playtime is over, he turns into the BEST cuddler, always ready to snuggle up with his people. Kodiak is a loving, playful, and eager-to-learn little pup who is excited to find his forever family. He’ll make a wonderful addition to any home! He is fully vetted. Vetting includes spay/neuter, microchip, rabies and all puppy vaccinations. His adoption fee of $600 includes the transport to PA. Poncho is one happy dog! He loves to smile and show off those cute teefs. Poncho was picked up as a puppy in the fall of 2024. His siblings were picked up several weeks before, but he would not come to people until his mom was hit by a car. He absolutely adores people now!! He's so good with kids. Poncho is great with other dogs, takes treats gently, is house trained, and LOVES to be outside! He really loves swimming amd romping in the pond. Poncho may have some border collie in him because he loves to run cows. He will need a fenced-in yard because he will chase cars. Poncho is medium size and at 18 months old as of December 2025, he shouldn't get much bigger. He's fully vetted and ready to hang out with you! PLEASE NOTE! Unless stated otherwise, our dogs and puppies are located in Arkansas, and transported to the north/northeast once adopted. We do occasionally have dogs/puppies placed in foster homes in the north/northeast. In the cases where the pet is somewhere other than Arkansas, it will be noted beside the name of the pet. 11/20/25 Whiskey is a brother to Bourbon and Cognac. Like them, we don't know what breed he is, but he is everything good! He does appear to have some blue heeler in him, but who knows what else? Whatever his breed, he is a great pup! He is very calm and sweet natured. An old soul. He has a beautiful, soft coat of many colors. Whiskey is a little more on the shy side than his brothers and sister, but he gets over his shyness very quickly, with a little reassurance. I expect he will be med-large when grown, probably in the area of 50 lbs. This handsome little guy is almost 8 weeks old and will be ready for his new home by mid December, just in time to celebrate his first Christmas with you! Whiskey is located in Arkansas. He can be adopted locally, but transport is available to the New England area as well. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Hey all, I'm Nova a 37#, 14 month old female, Austrailian Cattle Dog who just arrived in town from WV. I'm a HAPPY HAPPY gal. My owner went to jail when I was a wee pup, a lady took me in, but her yard was small so If outside I've always had to be on a chain. Ugh!that has been living in a home but only out on a short chain. Inside I did learn house manors: Good Stuff - House and Crate trained, take treats nicely, sit, shake, play ball, love LOVE Belly Rubs, great at tug with a rope and give the sweetest kisses! Walking on leash is OK, not super... I chew on chew toys only so far!Bad Stuff - Persistence in begging (I was given human food as treats), reaching up on you to with my paws and have a stubburn streak! (working on these things)I do have LOTS of energy and love to run and play with people or other dogs! Dogs, kids, adults, ALL ARE MY BUDDIES! I DO COME WHEN CALLED from a DISTANCE, so a fence requirement will be discussed pending yard size and situation. So, get off your duff, complete an application.
