You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. 2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue is primarily a sanctuary for senior and medically needy dogs.  Every once in awhile you will see younger dogs but for the most part our dogs live out their life at the ranch at the request of their previous owners or their owners families.  We have many sponsorship dogs.  Our sponsors love to keep in touch and know how their sponsored fur buddy is doing :) When we have foster families we are thrilled to be able to take adoptable younger dogs :)  So if you have ever thought about becoming fosters please feel free to go to our foster/volunteer page and fill out an application. The Ranch located at 737 Taylor Rd., Windsor, PA is always looking for dedicated volunteers that will commit to at least a 2 hour shift per week at the rescue.  Volunteers work in play yards, help with laundry and feeding.  Some enjoy landscaping or carpentry projects and some like to bake for the healing center visitors :) Thank you for supporting our mission of caring for the elderly and medically needy souls that need us! Image growing up in a yard with a human throwing you food over a fence and pouring water in your already dirty water day after day.  The human never touched you or the other three dogs in the yard and you lived outside like this summer, winter spring and fall until finally 8 years into your life someone reported your owner to the authorities and they finally came to save you!  You found yourself placed in a box separate from the only friends you had ever known.  Taken to a noisy shelter, poked, probed, bathed and then stuck in a kennel alone.  WOW SCARY right???  Well that was the experience for Max's, his best friend Moose and his 2 other fur buddies.  Unfortunately the oldest of the 4 was quite ill and passed away :(   The other one was adopted and seems to be doing well.  Max's was very shut down until the shelter staff placed him with Moose and then they saw Max's come back to life!   We couldn't allow Max's to lose the only friend he has ever had on this earth so we are taking both boys and they will only be adopted as a bonded pair with a contract signed that they will NOT be separated!! Max's & Moose will have to learn to live in a home, walk on a leash and understand what it is like to be valued and actually LOVED by a human.  If you would like to be considered for the boys please fill out an adoption application.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Please fill out an adoption application: Adoption application (Dog) Adoption Application (Cat)   Please understand we do not adopt out dogs to families with children under the age of 5. We do not adopt dogs to renters. Some dogs will have fence requirements while others may not. A pet is a lifetime commitment. The dogs and cats in our system find themselves there, for the most part, because their humans did not have the same loyalty to them as they did to their owners. We do not take the adoption process lightly, and will do everything in our power to make sure the animal is placed correctly the first time around for your sake and theirs. Thank you for choosing to adopt not shop! Meet MooMoo: MooMoo is a 4 month old (as of January 2026) border collie mix (best guess) that weighs about 23 pounds. MooMoo was found as a stray on the streets in Lepanto, Arkansas and luckily was connected with our rescue. MooMoo is being fostered in the south and would love to catch the freedom ride north to Pennsylvania to meet more prospective families! MooMoo is a very sweet and friendly boy who loves to be held and cuddled! MooMoo is great with people, children and other dogs. MooMoo is crate trained and working on his house training. We would love for MooMoo to have a home with a fenced in yard for him to run and play freely. MooMoo is up to date on his puppy shots and will be neutered in mid January. If you are interested in adding this snuggle bug into your life, please go to Charlie’s Crusaders website (www.charliescrusaders.org) to fill out an application. CURRENT LOCATION: Arkansas, awaiting transport to PA ##2631802##

Story
We lost our dog of 15 years in 2024. My husband and I are in our older years, and were not going to get another pet. Unexpectedly, our loving daughter decided that it would be wonderful to buy us a puppy in June of 2025. While in the beginning, it was exciting and we loved having a puppy again, It is clearly too much for my husband and myself. Indy is a very active border collie that needs much playtime. We would highly recommend he goes to a younger couple's home or a couple with children. He loves to be touched, I think even more than treats. He has pink birth marks on his black nose that we thought would go away as he grew however have not. He has full control of his ears and uses them to show emotion. Indy is a very vocal puppy. At times it would seem that he's actually having conversations with my husband. He knows some commands like sit, stay, shake, down, and lay down. He is kennel trained, not that he likes it, but he is kenneled when we are not home.

Story
Hi, I’m Dasher, a smart, adventurous, one-eyed guy with great obedience and a big love for both cuddles and activity. I’m a quick learner who enjoys structure, training, and being included in daily life—whether that’s walks, hikes, car rides, or just hanging out with my people. I love meeting new people, follow my humans from room to room, and happily settle in my crate when I need downtime. I do best with calm introductions to other animals and prefer respectful space, especially around my food and crate. High-energy dogs can be overwhelming for me, but with guidance and patience, I settle nicely and respond well to cues like “place.” My missing eye doesn’t slow me down at all—I navigate the world with confidence. With a patient, active adopter who understands dog behavior and enjoys training, I’ll be a loyal, loving companion ready for life’s next adventure. 3159 Susquehanna trail N York, PA 17406 Kennel #3537

Story
KENNEL ID #18804 Sidney and his sister Cookie were rescued from a high-kill shelter in Greene County, TN, where overcrowding forces heartbreaking decisions every day. Some were strays never reclaimed. Others were surrendered by their families — and sadly, owner surrenders are the first to be euthanized, as they receive no stray hold. Thankfully, our rescue partner in Tennessee stepped in just in time, saving 15 incredible dogs from the “last call” list. Each has now received full veterinary care and is preparing for a fresh start in PA. Despite their past, these dogs are full of hope and heart. Could this survivor be your new best friend? Sidney is hanging out with his rescuer and foster mom, Carol, in Tennessee. If you have any questions, please email her at abandonedangelsinc@gmail.com. Donations are desperately needed and greatly appreciated for medical care. https://www.paypal.com/paypalme/abandonedangelsinc  Thank you for your interest in rescue.  If you would like to be considered for  adoption,  please submit an application to adopt.  If you have any questions regarding the adoption process, please email:  rescuedp2024@icloud.com  or ddlu219@yahoo.com   for dog/puppies.    APPLICATIONS TO ADOPT : DOG     CAT     BIRD      REPTILE       SMALL ANIMALS        November 13, 2025, 11:03 pm

Story
KENNEL ID #18804 Mason is a gentle, sensitive soul who’s learning that the world can be kind again. He’s currently in a foster home in Tennessee with his brother, Monty, and does well with other dogs. Mason is still shy with people—especially men—which is completely understandable given his past. Life on the streets followed by a stay in a high-kill shelter taught him to be cautious, but despite everything he’s been through, Mason has never shown aggression. With patience, consistency, and love, Mason continues to make progress every day. He’ll need a calm, understanding home that allows him to build trust at his own pace. He’s still working on basic training and would benefit from gentle guidance and routine. Mason is an athletic boy and will jump or climb a fence if left unattended, so a secure yard and supervision are important. In return, you’ll gain a loyal companion who just needs someone willing to show him that he’s finally safe. If you have a soft spot for the quiet ones and believe in second chances, Mason may be the perfect fit for you.  Mason is hanging out with his rescuer and foster mom, Carol, in Tennessee.
