Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. 2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue is primarily a sanctuary for senior and medically needy dogs.  Every once in awhile you will see younger dogs but for the most part our dogs live out their life at the ranch at the request of their previous owners or their owners families.  We have many sponsorship dogs.  Our sponsors love to keep in touch and know how their sponsored fur buddy is doing :)When we have foster families we are thrilled to be able to take adoptable younger dogs :)  So if you have ever thought about becoming fosters please feel free to go to our foster/volunteer page and fill out an application. The Ranch located at 737 Taylor Rd., Windsor, PA is always looking for dedicated volunteers that will commit to at least a 2 hour shift per week at the rescue.  Volunteers work in play yards, help with laundry and feeding.  Some enjoy landscaping or carpentry projects and some like to bake for the healing center visitors :)Thank you for supporting our mission of caring for the elderly and medically needy souls that need us!Image growing up in a yard with a human throwing you food over a fence and pouring water in your already dirty water day after day.  The human never touched you or the other three dogs in the yard and you lived outside like this summer, winter spring and fall until finally 8 years into your life someone reported your owner to the authorities and they finally came to save you!  You found yourself placed in a box separate from the only friends you had ever known.  Taken to a noisy shelter, poked, probed, bathed and then stuck in a kennel alone.  WOW SCARY right???  Well that was the experience for Max's, his best friend Moose and his 2 other fur buddies.  Unfortunately the oldest of the 4 was quite ill and passed away :(   The other one was adopted and seems to be doing well.  Max's was very shut down until the shelter staff placed him with Moose and then they saw Max's come back to life!   We couldn't allow Max's to lose the only friend he has ever had on this earth so we are taking both boys and they will only be adopted as a bonded pair with a contract signed that they will NOT be separated!! Max's & Moose will have to learn to live in a home, walk on a leash and understand what it is like to be valued and actually LOVED by a human.  If you would like to be considered for the boys please fill out an adoption application.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Please fill out an adoption application: Adoption application (Dog) Adoption Application (Cat)   Please understand we do not adopt out dogs to families with children under the age of 5. We do not adopt dogs to renters. Some dogs will have fence requirements while others may not.   A pet is a lifetime commitment. The dogs and cats in our system find themselves there, for the most part, because their humans did not have the same loyalty to them as they did to their owners. We do not take the adoption process lightly, and will do everything in our power to make sure the animal is placed correctly the first time around for your sake and theirs. Thank you for choosing to adopt not shop!October 14, 2024, 6:08 pm

PLEASE NOTE! Unless stated otherwise, our dogs and puppies are located in Arkansas, and transported to the north/northeast once adopted. We do occasionally have dogs/puppies placed in foster homes in the north/northeast. In the cases where the pet is somewhere other than Arkansas, it will be noted beside the name of the pet.Courtesy post. We are listing Matilda for a very kind couple who took her in and is fostering her until a home is found. Please share. “Matilda is a sweet, smart girl who needs an active home. We think she's about a year old. She was picked up by a rescue and adopted by a woman with mobility issues. She developed some bad habits due to boredom and when the owner went to return her to the rescue, they had shut down. The shelters in our area are all full and most of the cities around here have bans against any dog that looks remotely like a pitbull, so we took her in 4 months ago to keep her from being put down. She learns quickly and is a great dog as long as she gets physical and mental exercise daily. She has been great with our dogs and at doggy daycare. I don't know if she's ever been around cats or kids. I think she'd be fine with kids, though I'd worry about her knocking them down if they're really little. She knows basic commands, is kennel trained and potty trained, and walks well on a leash. She is spayed, UTD on age appropriate vaccines, microchipped, and on flea/tick and heartworm prevention. Located in Arkansas, but transport is available. Adopter must be able to pick up or arrange for someone to pick up for them at one of the following times/locations. This includes microchip, spay/neuter,  up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, dewormings, flea/tick treatment, and heartworm test (if over 6 months old) as well as heartworm treatment if they test positive. We do occasionally have dogs/puppies placed in foster homes in the north/northeast. In the cases where the pet is somewhere other than Arkansas, it will be noted beside the name of the pet.Miracle is the definition of strength, love, and second chances. Despite enduring unimaginable hardship, this sweet and spunky boy holds no grudges—he simply wants to love and be loved. Found in rural Arkansas with a shattered jaw after being shot, Miracle went without food or water for days before a Good Samaritan saved him. He underwent three surgeries to repair his injuries, and while his jaw remains slightly misaligned, it only adds to his charm. His spirit, however, was never broken. Miracle is a happy, playful, and incredibly affectionate pup. He is eager to please, food-motivated, and easy to train. His favorite place is by his people’s side—whether he’s enjoying an energetic play session or curling up for a well-deserved nap. He is house-trained, heartworm negative, neutered, and up to date on all vaccinations. We do not know his breed. Likely a mix of several breeds.  Miracle is loyal, attentive, and always comes when called. He does well with people and loves companionship, though he’s not a fan of cats or chickens. This brave boy has been through so much, and now he’s ready for the happy ending he deserves. If you’re looking for a devoted companion with an incredible heart, Miracle is waiting for you. She’s social, affectionate, and loves being around people and other dogs. She’s still coming out of her shell, but her curiosity and playful energy are shining brighter every day. Nova responds to her name and loves a little leg pat or kissy noise as a personal invitation to come say hello. Energy Level Balanced and manageable -Nova enjoys daily walks, backyard zoomies (if available), and playtime with canine pals. But once her energy is spent, she’s all about curling up on a dog bed or snuggling close on the couch. She’s the perfect blend of playful and chill. Story
Finnley was born on Christmas and he is 7 months old . He came from the Kentucky floods. He is a smart loving dog eager to learn. He loves going for walks and is good on a leash. He can sit , lie down , catch treats out the air and loves playing tug a war and other games with my kids. He is good with our cats . He wants to play with them. They don't like him though . 😁 He doesn't ever jump up on people or go after our food. We have a large yard in the country and he never wanders far or chases deer. He just loves attention most of all. That is our dilemma. When my kids go back to school he is going to be alone 12/13 hours a day. We don't want to do that to him. He is so used to people that I'm afraid about what it will do to his development. We want to find a loving home for him where he won't be alone. A companion dog and lots of space would be great. It breaks our heart to lose him , but we think it may be best for him. If you want a loyal companion , Finnley is for you.
