Story
*** Courtesy Posting *** Bergy joined us from the Jurupa Valley Animal Shelter in early March 2024. She caught our eye because she was incredibly underweight and seemed lonely. We pulled her after learning her time in the shelter was limited. This beautiful, sweet little girl is microchipped, fully vaccinated and will be spayed prior to adoption. She is now at a healthy weight of 28 pounds. Bergy is estimated to be approximately 2 years old and guessed to be a terrier mixed breed, perhaps Boston Terrier. She bonded quickly with the four dogs in her foster home, as well as 10-year twin children. She especially likes playing chase around in the yard with another dog and plays tug of war with ropes and other stuffed dog toys. Bergy does well being in her crate when left alone in the house and sleeps quietly in her crate in a separate room during the night. Bergy is accustomed to being inside and is housebroken (of course she will need to learn the rules at your house.) Bergy enjoys walks and sniffs along the way, Bergy would benefit from leash training to learn not to pull, as well as enforce basic commands such as heel, sit, down, stay, etc... Being a terrier, she is also highly prey driven and loves to chase animals such as lizards and birds. It is unknown how she will react to cats. Bergy’s goals in life are to be cuddled, loved and play. Every morning when her foster mom takes her out of her crate for breakfast Bergy throws both paws on her mom’s shoulders and kisses face. She is a sweet dog and will be a loving devoted companion to a lucky family. Bergy is an alpha female and needs to be in a home with a dog that will be submissive to her or as an only dog. While she seems to be fine sharing toys and treats, she is protective of her food and should eat in her own area if there is another dog around. Bergy Is being fostered in Temecula California. Her foster parents are willing to travel to the Bay Area for potential adopters to meet Bergy. If you think your home is a good match for Bergy, please email Sue at dogs@s2springer.com and describe a bit about the home you would provide for her.

Story
We are excited to introduce you to the ever so handsome Blue Jay Bird! Blue Jay known in his foster home as BJ, is a boston terrier puppy born approximately on 12/17/2023 who is paralyzed in his rear legs since birth.     He is a ham . He is Mr. personality and loves to be around other animals and humans.   He is not incontinent. but has to wear diapers so he doesn't dribble peepee on his legs as he moves due to the pressure on his stomach. But most importantly he wears them to keep his tush safe from friction burns and wounds . He came to us with wounds on his bum, tail, back of his legs and feet. The back of his legs and tush were completely bald due to constant friction. His hair is now growing in as his wounds have healed due to wearing diapers to protect his skin. He needs to be on carpeted surfaces to help his ability to maneuver around in his own way.   He takes baths daily and loves them . he gets his bath a bit before bedtime where he sleeps without a diaper (we call this his naked time). He sleeps great through the night in his x pen where he has a soft bed, toys, a rug underneath, and his water. He does great in a sling where he can be carried around and he will watch the world and enjoys being in the conversation.   He gets the post dinner crazies and wants to play play play. At times he thinks he is in WWE and the star of Monday night raw and it is his responsibility to defeat the Undertaker .   He loves toys and fun things to chew on line bully sticks and bento balls. He has not had all of his puppy shots yet but has been neutered. He travels fine in the car with a bully stick to keep him entertained.   This guy is looking for a family (or person) who works from home, is retired, doesn't have to work, or can take him to work with them. If none of those apply then a babysitter when you will be gone for long hours. He does great in an office setting and stays on his dog bed and rug in the office.   He is being fostered in Sacramento California which is where he will be available to meet potential adopters. If you are interested in meeting and adopting this amazing fella, fill out an application at www.beourpet.org/adoptions.php please be as detailed as possible and let us know why you would be an ideal home for this sweet guy. He requires special attention and care to ensure he is safe, so let us know how you can provide that in your home.   If you are unable to adopt but want to help sweet BJ find the perfect home, please ***SHARE HIS STORY*** GENERAL INFO:   Housebroken?: Special needs, needs diapes Crate Trained?: Yes Leash Trained?: Not yet Rides Well in Car?: Yes Non-Shedding?: No Good with cats?: Yes Good with dogs?: Yes Qualifies for Seniors for Seniors?: No adoption fee for appropriate home Umbrella of Hope does not have any strict rules on ages of children because all children are different, but our best approximation is that this animal would do best with children over the age of 5 Umbrella of Hope is an all-volunteer, donation-run, non-profit animal rescue based out of Pittsburg, CA that rescues animals from local shelters, places them in private foster homes, provides them with needed medical care and then finds them new homes.  Also, ask us about our seniors for seniors program, where we adopt animals 5 years or older to qualified homes with a $5 donation as an adoption fee. Spayed or Neutered,
Story
WEIGHT: ~17LBS.Here's Lana! Has her sights set on a forever home, just hasn't quite focused in on THE ONE. She has been living in a foster home. Here is what her foster has to say about her:"She is the sweetest little doggy, full of life and energy and curiosity. She seems overall very well behaved, eager to please and easily accepted a routine. She is a little insecure, but I think in the right "forever home" she would be a wonderful addition. As for behavior with strangers and other dogs, she seems fine. I walk her at least twice a day and she has never barked at any dog; she has approached neighbors and friends calmly, with normal tail position. The only thing she did once, when my brother appeared at the back door was that jumping up and down like a jumping bean and barking. I made her sit and calm down, and then my brother came in the house. After that she never did that again when he came in the back door."Because she's in foster, she's not able to be viewed during Browsing Hours. So, let us know you'd like to learn more by filling out and Adopter's Profile!
