Story
Pug / Dachshund Mix Age: ≈ 4 years old Female, spayed 15 lbs Adoption Fee: $125 (includes spay/neuter, microchip, vaccinations) Cheerio came to the Sacramento County Shelter underweight and with an embedded foxtail in her neck. It was removed surgically, but post-op they had trouble stopping the bleeding. She tested negative for any blood clotting disorder - perhaps the surgery nicked an artery? Eventually, the bleeding stopped, but it left her anemic. The shelter needed a rescue group that specializes in medical cases to continue addressing her veterinary needs. Over time in foster care, her anemia improved and she gained her weight back. She is a very friendly, sweet dog. She likes attention and affection from her foster parents and volunteers. She likes roughhousing with the younger, larger dogs in her foster home. She doesn’t like being confined or kept away from the activities of the home. Crate training would be pretty difficult - lots of barking. Apartment living may not be the best option for her. We have no experience with her as an only dog. We would recommend that she go to a home with other playful, friendly dogs. Please note that we don’t adopt any of our dogs out to homes with children under the age of 13. Story
JJ is a sweet, gentle pug who will be turning 2 years old this April. She has a calm, affectionate personality and has been a wonderful companion in a family environment. She is great with kids—patient, gentle, and loving—and enjoys being around people. JJ is friendly and does well with other dogs, especially in a calm and respectful setting. She enjoys short walks, relaxing at home, and staying close to her humans. JJ is in good health and has been well cared for. She thrives on routine, attention, and a loving environment where she can feel secure and part of the family. Due to major life changes and relocation, I’m no longer able to provide the long-term stability JJ deserves. This decision comes from a place of love and responsibility, with her best interest at heart. I am looking for a committed, responsible adopter who can offer JJ a safe, stable, and permanent home. Ideally, her new family will understand the pug temperament and be ready to treat her as a lifelong companion.

Story
Thelma is sweet, smart, energetic, loyal, and goofy! She is mostly housetrained and is working on her leash skills. She gets along well with other dogs and older kids. (She has not been introduced to cats yet.) She can be a bit anxious, so she probably needs someone who is mostly home. She loves her squeaky toys and playing tug-a-war with other dogs. Meet this sweetie by filling out a questionnaire and a volunteer will contact you. (JH) Thelma weighs 18 pounds.

Story
🎩 Meet Ralphie – The Distinguished Gentleman Potato 🐶💙 Ralphie is a 55-lb, 4-year-old bulldog bundle of squish, snorts, and silent judgment (mostly when he’s modeling his foster mom’s latest fashion choices). He may look tough, but underneath that serious mug is a sweet, sensitive soul who just wants love… and a really good chew toy. Ralphie is dog-friendly and does great with canine pals. He can be a little shy around men at first, but give him some time and he’ll warm up like a microwaved baked potato—soft, comforting, and loyal to the core 🥔❤️. This good boy is crate trained, doesn’t bark in his crate (a true unicorn), and is perfectly content chilling with his favorite hard chew toys. He’s calm, polite, and very patient—even when dressed in questionable outfits by his foster mom. Fashion icon? Maybe. Willing model? Absolutely. 📍 Currently being fostered in Fresno, CA, Ralphie is ready to find a forever home that appreciates a quiet, cuddly guy with a big heart and an even bigger head. If you’re looking for a low-key best friend with excellent crate manners and elite chew-toy dedication, Ralphie might just be your guy 💫

Story
Meet Pearl 💎 | Professional Snuggler & Certified Good Girl Pearl is a low-key lady with a PhD in relaxation. This 4-year-old, 44-lb, deaf snorting furball of love has mastered the art of the perfect routine—kenneling herself like a champ around 8–8:30 pm and sleeping soundly until about 7:15 am. Beauty sleep is important, okay? 😴 Mornings start with potty time (she prefers a personal escort vs. the doggy door) followed by scratches, cuddles, and then… another nap. Pearl is mostly a “go with the flow” kind of gal. She’ll casually wander into the kitchen to supervise lunch prep, and if you sit down to read on the porch? Don’t be surprised when she hops into your lap and starts snoring like she pays rent. 📖💤 Evenings are for couch time and TV, where Pearl shines as the ultimate cuddle companion. She’s uncomplicated, easygoing, and happy just being near her people. Food-wise, Pearl keeps it simple—she’s a once-a-day eater and politely declines breakfast like the refined lady she is. ✨ Pearl Stats ✨ • 4 years old • 44 lbs • Stunning blue eyes • Low-key, affectionate, and cuddly • Fostered in Grass Valley, CA If you’re looking for a calm, loving, snuggle-first kind of dog who will happily snooze her way into your heart, Pearl might just be your perfect match. 💙🐾

Story
Foster or Foster-to-Adopt Needed Chunk urgently needs a behavior-experienced foster or foster-to-adopt home. Until that home is found, we are also in critical need of a boarding sponsor to keep him safe and stable. 💔 Cost: $750/month any help truly makes a difference. Chunk has a bite history and has bitten in all previous homes. Because of this, we are being extremely intentional about finding the right placement; someone who understands dogs with boundaries, structure needs, and behavior management. Despite his past, Chunk has been doing very well in his most recent home. With consistency, clear rules, and respect for his space, he showed that he can thrive. Unfortunately, due to unavoidable life changes, Chunk lost that home just before Christmas and now he’s at a critical crossroads. Here’s who Chunk is: ✔️ Dog friendly ✔️ Cat friendly ❌ Not safe for a home with children Chunk is not a typical dog, and that’s okay. He is not: • A cuddly dog • A dog who wants constant affection • A dog who enjoys hands-on interaction Chunk is: • A dog who prefers independence • A dog who loves his crate • A dog who finds joy in his ball • A dog who shows affection on his terms • A dog who needs his physical boundaries respected; always Chunk’s triggers are clear, predictable, and avoidable. When his boundaries are respected, he is calm, stable, and manageable. He is not unpredictable; he communicates clearly and needs a human who will listen. We are looking for someone who: • Has experience with behavioral dogs • Understands bite risk and management • Can provide consistent structure and routine • Will advocate for Chunk instead of trying to “fix” him • Understands that love doesn’t always look like hugs Chunk does not need saving. Chunk needs understanding. If you think you might be the right person — or if you know someone who could be — please reach out to us immediately. This is time-sensitive, and the right home could mean everything for Chunk’s future.
