Pug / Dachshund Mix Age: ≈ 4 years old Female, spayed 15 lbs Adoption Fee: $125 (includes spay/neuter, microchip, vaccinations) Cheerio came to the Sacramento County Shelter underweight and with an embedded foxtail in her neck. It was removed surgically, but post-op they had trouble stopping the bleeding. She tested negative for any blood clotting disorder - perhaps the surgery nicked an artery? Eventually, the bleeding stopped, but it left her anemic. The shelter needed a rescue group that specializes in medical cases to continue addressing her veterinary needs. Over time in foster care, her anemia improved and she gained her weight back. She is a very friendly, sweet dog. She likes attention and affection from her foster parents and volunteers. She likes roughhousing with the younger, larger dogs in her foster home. She doesn’t like being confined or kept away from the activities of the home. Crate training would be pretty difficult - lots of barking. Apartment living may not be the best option for her. We have no experience with her as an only dog. We would recommend that she go to a home with other playful, friendly dogs. Please note that we don’t adopt any of our dogs out to homes with children under the age of 13. Courtesy post Meet Rolo. He is a 12 week old Pug who somehow ended up homeless. Luckily he was quickly placed with a foster to has children, dog and cat so he is well rounded little guy. He is a baby so a home with someone home during the day rather than being alone for 8 to 12 hours per day is very important. Rolo is neutered and has had 2 vaccines. He is on his way to being fully crate trained and is doing great on the potty training. His new family will need to be able and willing to continue with his training. Meet Lizzo This sweet English Bulldog is happiest when she’s flopping on the couch, rolling around like a goofball, or cuddling up next to her dog friends. Lizzo is still working on potty training but is making progress every day. She’s very food motivated, which makes training fun and rewarding for her. She’s also improving with her leash manners and enjoys getting out for little walks. This girl absolutely loves her chews and stuffies and will happily entertain herself tossing them around in her crate. She’s been wonderful with kids and babies, has met new people and kiddos beautifully, and has shown no resource guarding. She’s also curious and friendly with other dogs and has greeted a few temporary fosters through the gate with a wagging attitude. Bath time? Grooming? Face wipes and tail care? Total pro. Lizzo takes her spa days like a champ.

Until that home is found, we are also in critical need of a boarding sponsor to keep him safe and stable. 💔 Cost: $750/month any help truly makes a difference. Chunk has a bite history and has bitten in all previous homes. Because of this, we are being extremely intentional about finding the right placement; someone who understands dogs with boundaries, structure needs, and behavior management. Despite his past, Chunk has been doing very well in his most recent home. With consistency, clear rules, and respect for his space, he showed that he can thrive. Unfortunately, due to unavoidable life changes, Chunk lost that home just before Christmas and now he’s at a critical crossroads.
