Story
Bear was a rescue dog that was left on the side of the highway. I got him when he was a puppy and he has grown loyal to me. However, my schedule is very busy, I live in a small apartment, and he does not get to run and play as much now that he has grown bigger. Bear would do great with any family with a fenced in yard or field to roam. Does well with other dogs and kids. Takes time getting used to new adults but once adjusted is a very loyal and protective dog. Bear loves to eat food!

Story
Hello there… I’m Chance 🤎🐾I’m a handsome golden tan and white Boxer/Staffordshire Terrier mix with big bright amber eyes and a heart absolutely bursting with love. I’m about 4 years old and weigh around 52 pounds of muscle, cuddles, and nonstop devotion. 💕 If there’s one thing you should know about me right away, it’s this: I LOVE my people. Like… really love them. I want to be right by your side as much as possible, soaking up pets, belly rubs, affection, and making sure you always know you’re loved and protected. Velcro dog status? Absolutely confirmed. 🥰 I’m also a very energetic and intelligent boy, which means I need an active home that can keep both my body and brain busy. Long walks, hikes, runs, puzzle toys, training sessions, games of fetch — yes please! I’m highly food motivated, eager to please, and super smart, so training with me is actually a lot of fun. I love having a job to do and learning new things. 🧠✨I do well with other dogs, but I definitely have an alpha personality and prefer to be the only male dog in the home. Slow, proper introductions are important so everyone starts off on the right paw. 🐕 Cats, squirrels, rabbits, and other little critters? Absolutely not for me. I’ve got a very strong prey drive and will happily patrol the yard looking for “intruders.” 🐿️😅 I adore kiddos and do best with children around 12 and up because I’m a strong, enthusiastic guy with lots of energy… and apparently my tail has been described as “a weapon of mass destruction.” 😂 Because of my strength and excitement level, I may not be the best fit for people with balance or mobility concerns either. I walk well on a leash overall, though I can pull when I get excited. I’m also an excellent travel buddy — I load into the car nicely and love tagging along for adventures. 🚗💨 The good news? I’m already house trained, crate trained, and know how to use a doggie door when I have access to one. I’m also a very good guard dog and take protecting my people seriously. If something seems suspicious, I’ll make sure you know about it. 💪 At the end of the day though, underneath all my muscles and protective instincts, I’m just a big affectionate baby who wants a family to love with my whole heart. 🤎🐾📞 You can also call the shelter at 479-394-5682 to find out more about me.****************All animals at HSO are current on their vaccinations and will be spayed/neutered prior to adoption. If not already spayed/neutered, there may be a short delay between when you select this pet and when they are ready to go home.Breed and age are determined based on observable physical traits. Actual lineage and birth date are rarely known.Adoption Fees:-$60 for cats-$60 for dogs over 6 years-$80 for dogs 6 months old to 6 years-$100 for puppies up to 6 monthsCome visit our pets Tuesday-Saturday, 10am-2pm.

Story
Meet Beth, a sweet girl hoping for a family to love her very soon. She is known for her loving nature and will greet you with her wiggly butt and will solicit a belly rub and a snuggle. She loves to retrieve a ball and will return it to you for more. She is a really good car rider and will jump right in on her own, then sits or lays calmly in the back seat, happy to be with you and enjoying her next adventure. She like to sit on a bench with her human friends and watch whatever activity is going on at the time. A cat-free home would be best. Beth is possibly a boxer mix, about 4-years-old, and 53 pounds. She is ready to meet her new family and share her love and loyalty. You can apply on line at www.hsvawl.org by completing the Adoption Application on the home page.May 21, 2026, 6:29 am
