Story
Enzo is a tender, affectionate and friendly boy but also shy. Calm and submissive temperament. He gets along perfectly with other dogs, cats and even children of all ages. Enzo is a low-activity dog who prefers to spend his time sleeping or just lying down. It is the ideal companion to spend long moments of peace. It is not noisy; He barks little and does not howl. He may be shy at first but once he gains confidence you will meet a very sweet dog who will follow you everywhere. He loves eating treats, taking naps in the sun, taking quiet walks, and cuddling with each other. It is not destructive or bite things. You can put clothes on him or leave him with a harness without problem. He knows how to sit, wait for his food and walk on a leash. He has experience living with other dogs of different ages and sizes, both females and males, and with cats. The $400.00 adoption fee covers the following: Transportation to San Diego, Spay/Neuter. All vaccines up to date. Deworming (puppies 2 sets). Flea medication up to date. Tick check up to date. Microchipped. Microchip registration to new owner paid for. Necklace. Temporary leash.

Story
Good with cats (does not chase them) Good with dogs (best if he’s in a home with trained dogs or low energy) Good with kids and super faithful towards his handler/ owner. Gets nervous with new people but will train them how to introduce new people If you are looking for a couch companion Cjay is it. He’s very laid back and a quiet. He is very willing to meet new people however it’s best when he approaches someone as it should be with any dog to respect their boundaries. We notice he is very loving but his protective side goes in hand and hand with that love he is committed to his owners and his family any new owner will need to have firm guidance when he is introduced to new environments and or people. He’s not a dog who wants to be greeted by other dogs he does well ignoring dogs & looking to the owner for the right answer of what to do when he feels uncomfortable, but judging by the scars he has on his hind legs and under belly it seems to me he’s been in previous dog fights. So we recommend an owner who is comfortable telling someone “I’m sorry but my dog doesn’t like to be greeted” or simply a harness that says please do not pet. Usually service animals have these as they’ve gone through training it allows him to walk and work in public without the fear of someone reaching down to pet him.September 22, 2023, 1:43 pm

Story
No sad days with Sadie! Hey guys! My name is Sadie, and since I have a bunch of namesakes here, let’s call me Sadie the Boxer, or Sadie 3. I am a 3 year old, spayed female Boxer mix and weigh about 66 pounds. I had a family but unfortunately it didn’t work out, so here I am at my foster home, waiting to find my new family! I am potty trained, crate trained, and do well left home alone free roaming. I walk well on leash when there aren’t distractions around. When I see other dogs on leash I get excited and will whine/pull towards them (they say it’s called “leash reactivity”). I am working hard on desensitization and improving every day. I am polite with my doggie foster sibling on walks – it’s just those new dogs that distract me! I am a sweet and goofy gal, with medium sort of energy. I am a lil shadow of my family and follow them around, waiting for affection. I am a true lap dog, regardless of my size! If you’ll let me, I love to fall asleep tucked against you or with my chin on your leg. I am very intuitive and in touch with my family’s emotions. My boxer energy comes out with a few bouts of energetic play a day, but I mostly enjoy lounging about. I do well with all sorts of human guests coming over; I love a good party! I can be called dog-selective, but I am doing great living in my foster home with a canine companion. I prefer calm dogs and proper introductions. I have minor resource guarding towards other dogs, in the form of growling if they approach me while I’m eating my meals. What can I say, I like my food! If I go home with a doggie sibling, an owner who has experience with resource guarding, or is willing to learn how to manage this behavior, would be ideal. I don’t have experience with cats or kids yet. My skin allergies are being managed with daily Apolquel pills (~$81.00 for a months supply. Price will vary depending on where purchased and market value). I am currently eating Purina Pro Plan Veterinary Diets HA Hydrolyzed Vegetarian Canine Dry Formula as well. I would do well in either an active or chill home, as long as I have people to cuddle with! I’m already seeing improvements on my reactivity in my foster home, so keeping that training up would be great. While I do love a good sunbathing session, I don’t necessarily need a yard, as long as I get a couple walks to get out and sniff I am happy. I’d love a home with people who will continue to help me improve on leash and be my best self! My adoption fee is $250 and that includes spaying/neutering, shots, and microchip. If you want to take me home, please fill out the form on the website here: https://theanimalpad.org/adoption-application/.   ##1698852##

Story
Age: 3 years old Gender: Female Breed: Boxer Weight: 43 lbs Personality: Iris as sweet as they come! She can be both lazy and cuddly as well as a super active athlete! Iris is a boxer through and through and loves to play. She adores other dogs and gets along with those of all sizes. However, since she is a ruff-and-tumble kind of gal, so she needs another pooch who can hold their own. She is beyond loving, loyal, silly, and is the best snuggle buddy! Education: Iris is 70% house-trained and making wonderful pawgress! She is fearful on the leash and in new places. Due to her past situation, she does not like the crate and would rather sleep cuddled up by your side. She has separation anxiety and would be happier left in a yard rather than outside. She will be vocal when left caged (can you blame her?). She has a “crappy” habit of eating poop, so it’s important it’s not left around. Even though she can be a little stinker, she is incredibly smart and food-motivated! She has already learned to sit, lay down, and stay. She would love a dedicated human who can commit to helping her bloom! Favorite Activities: She’s a lover girl who adores her people as well as other dogs. Iris is not a fan of cats… she thinks they are a moving toy! She loves running, fetching, and playing with other dogs. She is a cuddly sweetheart who is bundles of energy and fun! Looking for: Iris came from the awful conditions at ESLR in Ensenada and is beyond appreciative of her new life. She would benefit from a seasoned dog owner who can help her get over her anxieties and work on her training. Iris loves kids but because she can be high-energy, it’s best if she’s with older ones only. She would adore a yard and another pooch to play with. So what do you say? Add Iris to your growing garden and let love grow! Adoption Fee: $ 350 ##1776476##

Tyson is a very happy go lucky dog.  He was pulled from Tijuana Animal Control February  2022.  He was very emaciated and very sick.  He weighed only 33 pounds at intake with us.  He has gained more than thirty pounds while in our care.  His tail had to be amputated as he had "Happy tail."  He could not stop wagging his tail and would break the tail open and spray blood all over everything by wagging it really hard and bumping itno things.  He is an amazing boy.  He loves adults, kids, other dogs, and just about everything.  He will be a wonderful addition to any family's home! ##1328861##

Story
My journey started as a stray darting in and out of traffic on a busy street and seeking cover in the adjacent riverbed.  I could be seen at night going house to house, looking for food and especially loved the yards with dogs.  Once humanely trapped, no owner came for me so here I am looking for my forever family.  I would do best with another confident dog in the home.  Once I trust I am incredibly sweet and eager to please.  I need someone willing to be patient and love me unconditionally while I adjust to my new environment.  I LOVE dogs and am high energy when it comes to play.  I prefer women and have a deep seated fear of men but can learn to trust.  I get to enjoy outings for pack walks but don't do well "sitting" in chaotic settings.  The noises, people and activity still scare me, even a year later.  Because of my Flight Risk I cannot be left unattended in a yard, crate training is a must when you are gone, tight grip on the leash is a must on adventures and my new family must be aware of open doors and windows.  I would love to find that person who will let me learn to trust, grow into their heart and let me be their new home body where I feel safe.  To adopt: https://petstablished.com/adoption_form/37765/genericTo foster: https://petstablished.com/foster_form/37764/genericEmail: awayhomefordogs@gmail.com ##1339002##

Mason here, thanks for saying hi. I do enjoy meeting new people but I get a little nervous with loud, fast movements. I will jump and plow over you so get your feet ready. Sometimes I can be a dufus and forget how big I am, so a home with a sturdy adult would probably be best. I need lots of toys to chew on to promote healthy play. If I sound like your ideal fit, I hope to meet you soon.

Story
Anxious but social adolescent with good recovery. A bit needy and clingy dog who needs a routine and moderate exercise to channel energy productively. Played with some stuffed toys and enjoyed playing fetch games with his people. No signs of resource guarding shown. Attended a supervised family gathering with his foster parent with great enjoyment. Needs a loving attentive home with rules that is able to set boundaries and give structure in order to quell his neediness to a healthy level and gain the sense of security that he needs.Dog to dog: Was deferential with a large senior female dog if a bit invasive with the muzzle licking initially. He became more respectful once she corrected him and set boundaries. Then the relationship was more mutually beneficial.

Story
6yr old Bridget lingered at the Imperial County Shelter for 5 months and after a few short days in a loving foster home, she has proven to be all her Boxer breed has to offer. Playful, Respectful, completely housetrained, joyful and fun to be around. She loves the companionship of some other dogs, as well as enjoying toys, she knows the difference between a shoe that is not hers to chew and a toy that she clearly will chew. Bridget can go from calm, chill to ""let's go for a walk"" in an instant. She rides well in a car, she loves the outdoors and her walks, she is a zig zagger on walks so we are going to work on that, but all in all, this girl is well behaved, respects boundaries and is a diamond in the ruff of the rough. Keep an eye out on this lovely girl, she is ready to join your family and bring you endless joy for many years to come.

Story
Hi I am Millie, I never stop smiling and I am so happy to always see the rescue volunteers, but would really love a family to call my own. We do not know much about my background, but I ended up at a shelter in Coachella, and no one was interested in me; they moved me to a larger shelter in Riverside, hoping someone would walk by and notice, but everyone just passed me by. I am not sure why because the shelter staff said I was their favorite and a really good girl. I always tried to look so sweet and pretty when families came in to see all the dogs, but no one ever even took me out to meet me. How would they know how sweet I was? I was getting really sad because I did not think I would find a family before my time was up, so the shelter reached out to some local rescues as my last chance because we shelter dogs do not have a lot of time to find homes when the shelters are overcrowded. But I know I am one of the lucky ones, and I show my foster momma how much I appreciate it daily and I will be really thankful to my fur-ever family. I am intelligent and affectionate. I love going on hikes, walks, and hanging out in my yard. I give the best kisses and snuggle my head with all the humans I love. I am a quick learner and love getting praises and making my humans happy. The rescue would prefer I go to a home as the only dog or with bigger dogs because I am strong and like to play. My best friend at my foster mom's house is a Great Dane mix. Also, bigger children only please because I do not want to knock anyone over when I get excited accidentally. But besides those small requirements, the rescues says I am pretty much perfect. Do you want to be my fur-ever family? If interested, please submit an application on our website at https://www.sandiegoanimalsanctuary.com/adopt. If approved, our volunteers will get back to you within 48 All dogs are fully vaccinated and spayed/or neutered before adoption. ** I can be adopted and transported out of state to an approved adopter, email us at info@sandiegoanimalsanctuary.com for details
